I'm loving listening to your interpretations of this album and what it means to you both, and you know by now how complex Pink Floyd are, definitely not for the casual listener. The message of enslavement and oppression in this album perfectly sums up society and humanity in general not only in the 1970's but pre 70's and also post 70's, nothing has changed✌
i found your channel and your analysis of the song is excellent. i loved listening to you two both debating and discussing it (i've heard the music countless times)
And now you must listed to Pigs (three different ones), from same album, to go full circle with Pink Floyds masterful portrayal of society. I also recommend listening to Talking Heads - Seen and not Seen. You will need the lyrics on this one as well but this will have you looking in the mirror at the end saying "Is this me?"
In your comment you hit on something that has come to mind many times when listening to Pink Floyd's music: how deep, true and accurate their lyrics were. But especially at what age! The Animals album is from 1977, Wish you Were Here is from 1975 and The Dark Side of the Moon is even from 1973! None of them were even thirty years old then!!! And all of those lyrics are still relevant today - it's amazing how timeless they are and deliver a message! It takes my breath away every time! But the truth is that the theme of Animals is inspired by an equally famous work: 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell...
One of my big draws to Pink Floyd was their reality. Welcome to the Machine spelled it out for me and I was shown the reality of life. Shine on You Crazy Diamonds.
"Animals" est un chef d'oeuvre du début à la fin. Comme pratiquement tous les albums de PF de 1968 à 1983, créativité, poésie, perfection des compositions, perfection du son, texte magnifique... etc la musique de PF traversera les âges ! Bravo pour vos "réactions" et merci aux contributeurs de vous conseiller ces merveilles.
My wife and I are exactly the same on this. I need to fight them. I lose myself in it. She just ignores them. I am right of course. At some point we all have to fight them together.
One of my favorite Floyd albums! The concept is brilliant and the guys outdid themselves on this one. You're reaction when the sheep are reciting their 'Lord's Prayer' was amazing
This is like reading a history book. They say we learn from history, but it's clear that we don't. We keep repeating the same mistakes over and over. I hope human beings wake up and cast off their "dogs". It's such a thought-provoking piece of art and I hope others, like you, see the dangers of following blindly. You both always impress with your ability to get to the core of the message!
The album "Animals" is almost 50 years old and I am still learning from it. So don't feel you need to completely understand the first time. Have listened to 100s of times...always amazing to know that this is music from my teens...and never enjoyed more than I do now.
I’ve commented this before, but I shall comment this statement again; I LOVE your commentary on Pink Floyd Lyrics and music. All of my love to you both, from Florida!
You r spot on things were different in the 70s we suffered unemployment and poverty but what we did have was freedom, looking at today I would without any shadow of a doubt say we had the best of times I lok at today and despair for this generation freedom has died over the last 4 years since the pandemic, legislation past during that time that will make your hair curl.
This song has my favorite Extro ever. And yes, if you find the time, it makes sense to listen to DSOTM, WYWH, ANIMALS and THE WALL in one go each, because they are concept albums.
With "The Final Cut" that came out after "The Wall", there's like 2 good songs because Roger Waters' ego hijacked the album and he pretty much did it himself. It shows. However, with Gilmour back as the main creative force on "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" & " The Division Bell". Both of those are beyond marvelous & they came out long after Roger was gone. And it shows. You have listened to the live versions of many of those songs already. They are some of the best things they ever did.
Not only the sheep ends up in the slaughterhouse, even the pigs go. You didnt get that part since you didnt listen to the song. Wich is fine. Your take is spot on anyway! You are fantastic in your takes.
I saw them preform this at Cleveland Municipal Stadium in 1977 at 21 years of age and once again blown away and the show with a giant floating pig and shot up sheep in the air that came floating down like little parachutes also big helium cars big busnessman. It was unreal. And to realize like you said its relative at any era how is that possible !? Sheer genius
Enjoy your grass as you pray your way through the pasture... "safely" Roger is a wounded narcissist who views the world through a very dark lense. He tends to be blind to large parts of the spectrum. His words are hard hitting and powerful and when you combine them with the music, it's a unique emotional experience you'll not find anywhere else.
Wow! I love how you are getting it right away. So many reaction videos from other people do not get it nor understand. And then in your second break, you totally totally nailed it!! Great great job! Subscribed!!
A breath of fresh air. I’ve been watching you’re pink Floyd reactions from the start and am very impressed by the depth of feeling and understanding you expressed. I have been fortunate enough to have seen the band live five times now including the Pulse concerts in 1994. For over 50 years now of listening to the worlds top band I still cannot measure the influence on my life. At some point maybe you could have a listen to Grandchester Meadows for the ultimate chill out tune. Make an old man even more happy and grant my wish. Thank you so much and you’re reaction to Sheep was spot on.
I GET WHAT ANDRE IS SAYING DOMENICA💯, I'VE HEARD THIS WHOLE ALBUM ( ANIMALS ) 100 TIMES SO, I GET IT! 😊GREAT CONCEPT ALBUM OF COURSE : DOGS = THE BUSINESSMAN, PIGS = THE GOVERNMENT & SHEEP = THE PEOPLE👍TAKE CARE YOU GUYS AND HAPPIEST OF HOLIDAYS TO YOU! 😊
I still get chills every time that guitar comes in at the end to take us away. So cool seeing you guys journey into this and finding beautiful and provoking music blowing you away. It was stunning when it came out in 77 and remains stunning and relevant to this day. It is a gift to have music that in effect seems to expand who and what and where you are on many levels as part of a library you can return to through your life. Good for the soul.
As a life long Floyd fan, I have 23 albums/hits albums , I'm not sure if that's all of them but i have not got around to listening to all albums let alone all the tracks... What a journey.....enjoy riding the wave...🏄
Yes, you are doing it correctly when listening to Pink Floyd, analyzing it, listening, Animal is for me the pinnacle of Pink Floyd mastery All album are great but Animal is just fantastic.... so everything... darker bigger deeper than any other album as it takes on the world.
Reaction videos are much more meaningful when the participants have first done some research into what they're about to listen to and this video in common with all your others is an excellent example of how it should be done. Bravo!
You are right, The sheep are unaware as they are eating grass that they will be corralled into the abattoir to be slaughtered and made into 'lamb cutlets' among other cuts of lamb. The speaking part begins ' The Lord's Prayer' but becomes something else as the sheep are slaughtered, a metaphor for whats happening in your life when things start out great then turn to shit.
One does not realize how spoiled (musically) we were back then. A lot of music from this era had deeper phylosophical meanings than today's music, I feel. I believe my life changed for the better as a result. Cheers!
This is my first time on your channel and I am very excited about your analysis and comments while experiencing Floyd for the first time. You two really put thought into it and are able to express those thoughts very, very well in a language that isn't your own...amazing! As an American who grew up enjoying PF, it is heart warming to see others discover music that is both thought provoking and moving. For me, I don't "listen" to Pink Floyd, I experience Pink Floyd...every single time.
This song is an epic thriller, a commentary about tyranny written by Waters. The outro by Gilmour is a fanfare (a triumphal march to celebrate the win against the dogs, meaning that the sheep now are the new watchdogs of the superior power). The lyrics are loosely based on "Animal Farm" by Orwell (when the pigs - at the end of the novel - stand up right on two feet, becoming like their former master, the man). It's raw, gritty and modern at the same time (the laser guns before the coda are incredible). The highlights of the song are the peaceful intro by Wright, a bucholic and delicate electric piano - you can literally see the sheep grazing over there - and in contrast the ominous lead guitar by Gimour, like an axe. Also, this is one of the best vocal performance by Roger Waters.
We were just starting to wake up to what was going on. Thanks in part to Pink Floyd. Unfortunately now we're living in it. But they definitely warned us this was coming.😎🇺🇸
So what other band has the ability to get you discussing things we normally would rather not discuss. Magnifico they are so many lightyears ahead of others. The creative force of Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright are unbelievable. This lineup of wizards and genius’. No other like them and never will be.
Thanks for your reaction to these songs. They are musically and lyrically sophisticated. Pink Floyd created the album, Animals, based loosely on George Orwell's wonderful allegorical short novel, Animal Farm. A famous quotation you may appreciate: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." George Santayana, writer and philosopher Another rock anthem on a similar theme of history repeating itself would be The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" from the album, Who's Next, released in August 1971.
The album Animals is loosely based on George Orwell's book Animal Farm written in 1945 . The album cover harkens back to Upton Sinclair's book, The Jungle, published in 1906. So it's true, same problems, different era. Pink Floyd is about human nature, which doesn't change.
Regarding the suggestion to listen to albums in entirety: agreed, that most times pieces of the PF album "puzzle" seem more logical and clear when you are following the story in a linear manner...but you both seem to be able to grasp the message doing each song individually. I'll enjoy and encourage either way you choose to consume this music. And you can always ask questions if you are unclear about something...good group of regulars in your community that will offer insight with any confusion you might have.
As much as i equate the greatness of Pink Floyd with David Gilmour I certainly must acknowledge the absolute genius of Roger Waters. These band members are just all legendary. And you're100% corrected Andrei, most of us are absolutely sheep!
@donbrogan3158 Of course I agree. Waters was a lyrical genius and a good performer. But David Gilmour was more out front and is a genius performer; as much as I believe Waters thought it was it was not primarily "his" band. And Pink Floyd had some pretty good stuff post Waters. That being said I think Waters is a great talent.
Love, love, love this reaction, love both sides of your discussion and the way you got what it’s all about and the futility of standing up to any governments rhetoric. This is exactly what the Floyd must’ve hoped for when this album was released - shaking up the masses! I think George Orwell’s Animal Farm was influential somewhere along the line! Look forward to your next reaction guys.
You can hear a great song differently every single time you listen. That is what makes it a great song. I first heard the song time when I was rather young. Forty years latter I hear it quite differently. Same great song, but I have changed so much.
Splendid reaction, one of your best, you had such a great discussion! I have nothing to add to your interpretation of the song, you nailed it, but as always, I really enjoy watching you discover this music. It reminds us old dogs who've been listening for decades how we felt when we first discovered it, it helps keep it all fresh, so thank you for that! You're going deeper, but you're not done yet, lots more PF to explore!
My god. One song, just one Floyd song where you take in the lyrics. And at 12:04 I’m wondering if you’ll ever get through the discussion and back to the song :) Strong lyrics indeed
Their music has definitely worked it’s magic it has you discussing issues that frighten us and we like to push down because they are too disturbing too ponder for too long. Too much anxiety about reality. It is easier to walk around in a trancelike numb condition
in my opninion this is their best album. but indeed you have to listen to this in one go. then you have the best experience. the songs are flowing into eachother without a silent pause
they were always decades beyond their time, they are not a band, not a genre, but they are a once in a century, phenomenon
Yes💯
Hey wait, are you saying no one in the Billboard top 100 now has picked up the mantle?! What about Taylor Swift or Kendrick Lamar?
When pink floyd was creating their music, they were indeed ahead of their time and now some 50 years later, they are still ahead of the times
Starting to look like Pink Floyd really hits Andrei in his core.
Cool beans.
That was an excellent reaction. The album is a straight up political commentary that holds true through the ages.
I could see it in her eyes, her face, that from a certain early point in the song she knew what the song was about. Wow.
Good analysis - in the last line, of course, the sheep become the new dogs.
Absolutely love you two...best, most honest stuff, like this, on YT.
That outro always makes me cry. I don't know why? 😊
It's very moving. A magnificent piece altogether.
Pigs is your next one I feel from that album. :). Still loving the vids! And fab reactions. X
It was about existential questions and greed of corporations and politicians
When you listen to Floyd you are never alone you are on a journey in there world and what a journey it is
I think they were warning us. "If you want to know the future, look to the past" Your intuition is spot on!
HI ANDREI... HI DOMINICA ❤... GREAT REACTION THANKS... GREATTING FROM UKRAINE... I LOVE YOU 2 🎉❤🎉❤
💙💛🦝Peace/JT

Love you both! In the next video of a floyd song or David, can you show your dog ❤? I saw him behind you! Thank you for your lovely reactions.
My wife and I are exactly the same on this. I need to fight them. I lose myself in it. She just ignores them. I am right of course. At some point we all have to fight them together.

You both have captured the ideal. The music and words are 'spot on" but your discussions (usually annoy me) are perfect! Keep going. Please.
They are gathing us.we are the sheep.
I’ve commented this before, but I shall comment this statement again; I LOVE your commentary on Pink Floyd Lyrics and music.
All of my love to you both, from Florida!
I love watching your Pink Floyd reactions because you 2 actually understand it, even though you say you don’t.

For me mentioned albums are the real pf, but not what they done after roger w. leaves the band.

@@vvmihali487 My feelings exactly.
@@lananiella Disagree here, Final Cut is for me a fantastic album but more like Roger Waters' first solo album
I like you two💓 You are very insightful. Pink Floyd compositions are timeless......
Dominka , Andri …love your reactions . Best wishes From Egypt . Keep it up and do more PF reactions ❤❤
Not only the sheep ends up in the slaughterhouse, even the pigs go. You didnt get that part since you didnt listen to the song. Wich is fine. Your take is spot on anyway! You are fantastic in your takes.
What a track this is.

I'm also glad you are using lyrics for Floyd. One can really appreciate the humor and irony of their lyrics this way. I love your reactions you two!
Wow! I love how you are getting it right away. So many reaction videos from other people do not get it nor understand. And then in your second break, you totally totally nailed it!! Great great job! Subscribed!!
Hello. Just discovered your channel and your reactions are why I watch these vids. Perfection. Thank you. I'm off to watch more of your videos :)

Grantchester...
Funny enough, I have an OLD cassette copy of Ummagumma from the 70s that says "Grandchester"!
Simply loved your reaction , this is what a " reaction" video should be, sharing your opinions and real honest thoughts , keep em' coming !!

Well said my friend, I know what your talking about!

Absolutely right!
Incredible song album and band 💯💯💯
Great reaction! Cant wait for "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" I think you're very much on target.
Sheep always have more to fear from the shepherds than the from the wolves, but they never realize it...
Great reaction. We all like sheep have gone astray.
We were just starting to wake up to what was going on. Thanks in part to Pink Floyd. Unfortunately now we're living in it. But they definitely warned us this was coming.😎🇺🇸
People used to be excited for the release of new records then take it home and listen front to back to take in the works of the artist.

Just for clarity...the picture isnt a factory its a power station..........quite a famous one :)
Saw them in 76 in the Houston Astrodome and saw Roger Waters do the first show of The Us and Them tour in 17
IT'S A PASSAGE FROM THE BIBLE (PSALM 23) YOU GUYS! 😊AND YESSSS YOU GUYS GOT IT, THE SHEEP ARE THE PEOPLE👍☹ OR WHAT WE WOULD SAY : THE SHEEPLE😮
Thanks for your reaction to these songs. They are musically and lyrically sophisticated.
Pink Floyd created the album, Animals, based loosely on George Orwell's wonderful allegorical short novel, Animal Farm.

I love watching you guys just enjoying the experience.welcome to the club
The Lord is My Shepherd is the beginning of Psalm 23
We are the Sheep!
We are the other people. You are the other people too.
Like I commented in Dogs reaction, Animals - masterpiece of music AND lyrics. Don't lose to react to Pigs as well.

Read the book Animal Farm then afterwards listen all the way through without a break. That's where the inspiration for the album came from.
Thank you for taking time out of training to play quarterback for the New York Jets to react to more Pink Floyd!
Loved your reaction to this thought provoking masterpiece 🤗🎶
This album is based on the book called Animal Farm.
This whole album is really good. Definitely a vibe
I’m a fan of you two, keep up the good work, very honest, pasionette & enthusiastic 👍
You can hear a great song differently every single time you listen. That is what makes it a great song. I first heard the song time when I was rather young. Forty years latter I hear it quite differently. Same great song, but I have changed so much.

Pink floyd doesn't age. I remember listning to this album with my friends when it came out. The significance and the feelings are the same today.
Brilliant analysis. The geniuous of Roger Waters' lyrics really makes you think.👍👍❤❤
in my opninion this is their best album. but indeed you have to listen to this in one go. then you have the best experience. the songs are flowing into eachother without a silent pause
