I'm gonna say it one more time: I truly love watching your reactions to Pink Floyd tracks! I appreciate the fact that you understand what you are listening to, and you try to make sense of the lyrics to each song...like, you KNOW there is more than just the generic meanings of the 'words' used; also, you appear to truly appreciate the music in each song, as well as the lyrics. Thank you again

Pink Floyd are masters of conveying an image or idea with music, like the way the music in this song sounds like grunting and squealing pigs. 🐖💗 I also really love the hypnotic repetitiveness of many of their songs, it really lets my mind go places.

Ah, this made my day!!! Totally wrecked my plans for being productive at work today...lol. Wonderful album. My favorite in the PF catalog. I got to see this album played in its entirety in 2017 on Roger Water's Us & Them Tour. It ranks up there with all other performances I had the pleasure to watch from Gilmour, Waters, or PF. I never thought I would get to see any of the Animal's tunes played live by PF band members, but ole Roger delivered not only one tune, but the entire album continuously.
Maybe someone has defined the 3 pigs mentioned in the song. If not, here's a briefing. The first pig is business elites in general(the 1% at the top). The second pig is referencing Margaret Thathcer. The third pig is Mary Whitehouse. Roger is slinging mud at UK's business/economics, political, and religious situation during the time of the album. Safe to say he didn't really hold any of them in high esteem.
If you want to see a live version of this tune, I recommend Roger Water's on the Us & Them tour. The Mexico City version is unbelievable. It'll blow your socks off.

The POWER in this song. The music, I mean. Pink Floyd's lyrics are almost always powerful. But the music is so strong. Like after the first chorus ends, then the return to the the refrain -- ouch !!
There is no other album like Animals.
I purchased it when it first came out. Couldn't wait for the new Pink Floyd album !! Upon first listen, I was disappointed. Seemed a little empty, having too much "filler" material with the animal sounds and strung out musical interludes. But I was compelled to listen to it again. And it only took a second listen to the entire album to "hear" it. And I listened to it again and again. Nothing empty about Animals. In contrast, it is a totally full album ... full of power, musical genius, and insight.

Animals was inspired by George Orwell's socio-political book Animal Farm/published 1945 (estonish!!!), which we read in English class at PM time. Pigs are the rulers, the oppressed by Orwell, unlike Water, it's more the moralizers.
On the 1975 tour, PM played the two albums Dark Side + Wish YWH, as well as two opening songs that became later Dogs and Sheep, released 1977, an absolutely brilliant concert program.
A sad detail: If you look at the end credits of the Animals songs, you realize that something was unfortunately wrong within the group and wasn't discussed new again. The Alpha animal problem was inevitable!?! Really a shame, human???

A master piece is "Amused to death" which would be a very long concept album . But if you like we might need to drink a cup coffee. Did you hear the " Talk Box' from "Keep Talking". to me Roger is the best lyricist. I bought the Animals LP when it was first released. I feel like it was not so widely or enthusiastically received as Dark Side and Welcome to the Machine. In fact, amongst Floyd fans, I feel like it is not as discussed as some other albums. Maybe it's because that it requires, as you noted, a more intellectual than emotional engagement. The 60 s and 70s saw so much anger and unsettlement due to the viet nam war. So many musicians wrote songs protesting the war and made people more aware of the bad things war brings. I spent a year in hell there and was more confused when i returned than when I went. Was a bad time and I appreciated the people that spoke out about it. The music in the70s in my opinion was the catalyst of most of what came after.

Saw this tour concert in Miami. The gigantic pig floating in the air was surreal. This band is special and such a great concept album. Yes, their messages are timeless! There are politicians now....I can think of one in particular in the US under trial, who should use this 'Pigs' as his theme song. But the irony would be too good to bear! Just replace 'Mary' with 'Donnie'. Perfect.
(I am going to plug Genesis once again. I do not know why you have avoided them so adamantly.....maybe you only know their later music. Try anything from the '70s or from the Duke album)

The pigs noises are made with a « talk box », its a guitar effect, plug into the effects chains of the guitar with a long rubber / plastic tube you put in your mouth and talk into while playing. The vibrations and talking with the effect itself produce this kind of sounds. Sorry im guitarist but not a native english speaker obviously 😅 Great reaction ♥️😊

My little experience in France has taught me English is widespread, though many need coaxing to speak it. Perfection is a lofty goal. I wish I could speak French or Italian. So I am envious.

@@rk41gator thats kind :). Honeslty i think french began for few years now to speak pretty good english. Mostly because of jobs and lot of people all over the world come here and also with the internet , it became easier to learn it and totally needed for expressing or understanding
Juste one point, funny point to me as an european: you see the american accent for Dominica and i personnaly immediatly see the romanian/ east european accent 😁. See what it shows from our différents locations ? Really funny and interesting :)
Yeah perfection is not from this world and its ok , even better lol . Should be boring to be perfect 😉

Yes, the lyric, but what a beat, as evidenced by the two of you bouncing like bobbleheads. I dance to this quite often. My speakers shake the windows.
The live performance in Mexico City recorded in 2016 is savage. Donald Trump is the primary pig and the lyrics have been changed accordingly. Also got that same pounding beat.
