Wow… scary. Shame on Thor for not building it better and shame on General RV for not doing a PDI before you did! They should have caught 90%+ of these items.
I agree! General RV should have done a proper inspection. However, I have had similar experiences at other dealerships so do not think it is just them. Also, RV manufacturers are very similar. Your only defense is to spend time conducting a proper inspection and do not sign anything until you are satisfied. Thanks for Watching
Thank you so much!! Your videos have been so helpful. We go for the inspection of out 2023 Thor Sanctuary 19P 4x4 Sprinter pick up on Friday! You got the color I loved. Ours is white and I have already ordered the laguna table!
Hello Danica, Congratulations on your new RV! 🎉. I am so happy to hear you have found my videos useful. I wish you all the best!!! Thank you so much for watching my videos!
Ruby, Excellent job and thank you so much for confirming that Thor’s quality has gone to pot. When buying any RV it is Paramont that you get an independent inspector. Quality today in the entire industry is deplorable. Thanks again for a job. Well done.
Hello Eddie, I have seen quality issues in many different manufacturers. That’s why it’s so important to thoroughly inspect any RV before purchasing. Thank you so much for watching!
Thank you for the compliment! Yes, I have had some quality issues with my unit but overall I am happy with my purchase. I have reviewed many B-Class RVs on my channel and have seen similar quality issues in other RV manufacturers as well. Conducting a thorough PDI is the most important part of the purchase process and do NOT sign any official purchase documents until after you have completed the PDI. Thanks for watching!
I've prepared for retirement for years and watched many TH-cam videos about class Bs. After that, I won't buy an RV at all. Before, Hymer in Canada folded. The RVs were less than $80K. Now, it's over $200K. Furthermore, it came with leaking, and the cabinet fell, etc. Some vans with better quality don't come with a toilet. I've decided to fly, stay at hotels and Airbnbs, and have fewer headaches.
Hello Max, I definitely agree. Many people that have poor experiences with their RVs is because they failed to perform a proper PDI prior to purchasing the RV. Thanks for watching!
I can't wait to see what the dealership has to say. I may have mention in your first go around that Winnie Revels are more expensive, but the quality is just a bit higher. Not much higher, but still higher. You have taught me what to do and look for, thanks another great video.
I am glad this video has helped. I know the Revels are more expensive but I also know that poor quality control is also happening on the more expensive brands. Thanks for Watching!
I had bought the same RV and also had issues though mostly minor. Our spray port did not work. After a lot of figuring out, the hose in back of the port that cant be seen kinked up. I bought a new supply line and its fixed. Off-roading, the large lower interior panel on the sliding door came off as its only glued on. We reinsulated and used JB Weld. Only problem was figuring how to get it to hold in place cause of the kitchen setup is right in front where you have to work on it. Also, the cheap rear window valances popped off. We had simple custom drapes made off of Etsy and they work perfectly. Otherwise, everything seems to be working so far. Ours cost 110K so a LOT less than a Revel (which had no discount at 193K MSRP) and figured we will do upgrades with the savings such as suspension and things like that for off-roading. And with that savings, if anything else falls off or breaks, we will upgrade those. The Mercedes van is excellent so far. Drives and handles great. And with the upgraded adjustable Van Compass 4.3 suspension handles great. BTW, since the RV`s are driven from factory to the dealer we had the oil changed and new fuel filter for a fresh start. Have to be careful with the diesel fuel…I try not to put in B20 or greater too often. Mercedes recommends less than B20 diesel fuel. Can clog your fuel filter and (somehow) raise your engine oil level (which is also bad) as I did a lot of research and even called Mercedes on it. I’m changing my fuel filter more often than recommended to be on the safe side. Others may feel differently but gives me piece of mind especially over landing.
Sound like you are having a great time with your RV. Like you, I am not worried about the smaller issues as I am very capable of fixing them myself. That being said, I do want to start with everything in working order. $110K is a great price for the Thor Sanctuary but others need to know that some dealers will have $5-6k in other fees to make up for the lower price. Thanks for Watching!
I have this RV just press the awning button once don't touch it to stop it , and once to have it go back in. The bars should be almost straight.. Our side seats rub too. The worst part of this rv is the side seat brackets hit you as you sleep some have issues with this others say no. Thor is replacing my as soon as they come in but to be honest i dont think it will fix the issues it's a design problem. La mesa rv has fixed the issues i had other were very simple and i did them myself.
That was a thorough shakedown. I think you made a great pick with the Thor. After comparing it to other similar rv's this is my favorite. Tv, benches, big fridge, sick in bathroom and microwave are big pluses.
Hello Dan, A PDI is very important especially when purchasing a new RV as many RV manufacturers have questionable quality. Best to not sign any final documentation until after the PDI. Have any findings repaired before you take delivery and you should be on you way to having a happy camping experience. Thanks for Watching!
Your videos are great! We bought a Pleasureway Lexor over a year ago primarily because Pleasureway seemed to have the best QC of the big-brand RV makers. So far that’s most,y paid off for us with very few complaints or nagging issues in terms of QC or fit/finish.
Pleasure-way does have a nice RV, and I am glad to hear that you are enjoying yours. However, lately it seems that just about all RVs tend to have a few quality issues. Thanks for Watching!
Great Video Ryker mom and great job finding the defects. I just purchased a Jayco Melbourne from RV ONE in Sarasota. I was told to take it home and all the items that were found during the walk through would be corrected. 3 months and nothing from Jayco nor RV ONE. Please be careful don't get ripped off like we did. Good luck 👍
Very sorry to hear that you are having issues (but unfortunately, not surprised) and I sincerely hope your story and this video creates an awareness and helps people understand what to look for before purchasing such an expensive item. Thanks for Watching!
I’m scheduled to pick up the “L” model next week from LaMesa RV. I’m going to make a list of everything you did in order so I’m prepared. Thanks for this video!
Make sure to spend time doing the PDI and do not get rushed or pushed into signing anything until you are happy. Also make sure you test drive and get it up to 70 mph and feel for shakes in the steering wheel (tire and rims are known to be unbalanced). Hope things go well and Thanks for Watching!
@@Adventure-Mom I picked up a Thor Sanctuary 19L from LaMesa in Mesa yesterday, and thanks to your advice I found a hidden but important problem - the toilet cassette was broken! There were broken pieces inside the cassette that somehow caused the toilet blade to be difficult to slide. They replaced it immediately with an identical cassette. I’ve only had it one day (camped last night and drive about 700 miles today) but so far everything seems to work. Mine has the “Re(Li)able” lithium package without the generator. We’ll see how well that works. I have a Honda generator at home if it’s not up to snuff….
@@threedogsandacamper503 Congratulations on the purchase! I am so happy that you found the issue and they were able to get it replaced so quickly. Can I ask who you worked with at LaMesa and which location? Hopefully it was a good experience. Thanks for Watching!
@@Adventure-Mom my salesman was Rich Lucero, but he was just promoted to manager. This was at the Mesa, AZ location. The orientation/inspection was done with Ron, but I don’t know his last name….
I owned a 2021 Thor Vegas for 1 month and traded in because of so many problems. It seems that the big manufactures and the dealerships have no quality control and really don't care the products that are going out. I then bought a 2022 Winnebago 59gl with a $25,000 Volta lithium ion batteries system. The 2022 dodge chassis changed and the Volta system didn't work. You would think that a $170,000.00 unit would go through a quality check from the Factory or that the dealership would of caught it when they did the PDI.
Wow, sorry to hear about your experience but I agree with you that the RV industry needs to rethink quality control. You would think that the dealership would push back, but if they did that they would not have any RVs to sell. Thanks for Watching!
Good walk-thru! As a buyer you should Always check reviews on all RV makers! It looks like this dealership doesn’t do PDI!!!! Very few do, sadly! Do your own research…. talk to other RV owners!!!!
I am glad this video was helpful but unfortunately it's not just Thor. I have been reviewing many different manufacturers and I have seen issues in a lot of different RV's. The most important thing is to conduct a thorough PDI, document the issues, and have them repair them before you sign. Thanks for Watching!
Great video, thank you so much! How did you handle the items that needed fixes? Was the dealer able to fix them all? And were they able to fix them that day or did you have to come back another day to pick it up?
Hello Wes, I never finalize the purchase until the dealership corrects the issues otherwise the dealership has no incentive to complete them quickly. The dealership service centers are alway backed-up and parts are always on back-order so purchasing and then waiting is not an option for me. Thanks for Watching!
Very informative video and I learned something here. I am really surprised at the amount of defects that you found on a Thor coach which is supposed to be a reputable manufacturer. However, like you said, most manufacturers are experiencing quality control issues of some form or another. Thank You for posting another interesting and informative video.
Hello Chris, It is so important to conduct a thorough PDI to ensure you are not getting a lemon. Most issues found are minor, but some items may need to be addressed before you drive the RV away. Thanks for watching!
Nice walk through review. It looks like Thor changed up the bathroom faucet to fit better over the sink and they upgraded the AC unit. What type of unit is it? My wife and I purchased a the Thor Tranquility from La Mesa RV San Diego a few mts ago and we had small issues with small paint chips that they are going to touch for us as soon as we can schedule a time. We did a cross country trip last month from San Diego to Toronto with two dogs and it handled fine. We are really happy with this Van. The 4 x 4 is a plus and it's a eye catcher. thx
Yes Thor has listened to some of the earlier complaints and fixed them. The faucet is one change as well as the sewer connection / valve. I'll have to check on the AC brand next time I see it. Sounds like you are having fun with it, Thanks for Watching!
I was gonna say that I hope she has a great experience because I hear so many bad thinks about QC issues with Thor RV's but right out of the Gate I can see she's missing the included JBL speaker so I'm pretty sure the rest of this inspection is not gonna be on the positive side.. but let me continue watching and hopefully I'm wrong
The key to a PDI is to document everything and to not accept the unit until everything is corrected. Do not fall for the "we will get you an appointment right away" because after you leave with the unit, they have your money and they no longer have any incentive to actually get anything fixed ... that never ends good. Thanks for Watching!
There are newbie motorhome buyers buying these with NO PDI!! Then when they get it home and start the "discovery process", they realize how sloppy they are built. Someone at Thor NEW of most of those issues BEFORE it left the plant. But they pushed it out anyway... now it's someone else's problem. Nice business model.
Buying an RV without a PDI is going to lead to a horrible RV experience as trying to get things repaired after you have handed over the money will require months of waiting. On one RV I reviewed I found a leak that had been marked by a red marker from the factory, so yes some of the issues are identified at the factory but still seem to make it out of the factory without being repaired. Thanks for Watching!
Make sure to watch her video where she found how poorly the sink was installed and how she fixed the issue instead of taking the RV back to the dealer to do the repair under warranty. The wait time with the dealer was interfering with a planned trip. The hidden build quality issues are discouraging.
Hello Wayne, I agree that there are a few RV manufacturers that could use better quality control but waiting for months on end to get simple items repaired is not an option for me as I travel more than the average RVer Thanks for Watching!
@@Adventure-Mom i watched your video about Hurricane Ian. Glad to see your house and RV were not ruined by the flooding from the storm surge, but your video just hit hard to witness that awful hurrcane. Cat 4 hurricanes are deadly.
Thank you for sharing this. I’m currently in negotiations with General for one with lithium. I definitely was not this thorough with my Rize from La Mesa and it was a hot mess. Given all of these quality issues, do you buy the extended warranties they offer? I did for the Rize but since I flew to La Mesa and don’t live near any of their locations, I have yet to find a serviced who will take me anytime less than 6 months from now, if at all. Most say no because I didn’t buy from them even though they are on Thor’s list of certified service providers. Also, if they don’t take you on the interstate for the test drive, can you demand this to get it over 70 mph? Thanks again!
Great question, no I have never purchased the extended warranty simply because the service areas are booked up 6 months and the regulatory warranty is almost useless so why bother with the extended. It would probably make more sense for those that are located close to a dealership with a good repair shop. Also, I have always taken a test drive onto the interstate. Thanks for Watching!
I hope they gave you a discount for all the stuff you found. I can't believe this was a new vehicle delivery! Not good quality at all. I wonder if Airstream does a better job with their quality on the Interstate 19?
Wonder how this inspection compares to a typical complete pre-delivery inspection? Seemed like a lot of things wrong, best to be careful before you drive off with the vehicle.
I passed up 2 other Sanctuarys before I decided to purchase this one as they could not pass my PDI. I would not accept anything that had any major issues. Thanks for Watching!
I have reviewed many different brands of B-class RVs. I can honestly say I have seen quality issues in many different brands so quality control issues are not just Thor specific and I agree that it is unacceptable. Thanks for Watching!
I test drove the Sanctuary and Tranquility, both had a severe shimmy. On a test drive anything above 65 mph created this severe shimmy. The faster I went the worse it got. Dealership in Port St Lucie said "the wheels were bad" that they are in negotiations with Thor and Mercedes about the problem. Yet..... they were still selling the vehicle. Hummmm. Not convinced it is a wheel issue, gut tells me it is more than the wheels. Needless to say not purchasing until this issue is completely resolved.
First, Glad you took it for a test drive on a highway as some dealerships do not allow this. Secondly, this is a complaint that others have expressed to me and I had the same issue with my Sanctuary 19P. The shimmy for mine was a combination of missing wheel balances, bad tire, and a bent rim. I have spoken with others that have had missing wheel balances as well. I have eliminated 75% of the shimmy now, but I believe I still have a bad rim or tire. Thanks for watching!
This was my 3rd Sanctuary and 3rd PDI. The first 2 Sanctuary's I would not accept as they had too many issues. It is very important to be thorough or you could regret the purchase afterward. Thanks for Watching!
Any RV product built on the Ford Transit 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine delivers 375 HP and 470 lb. -ft. of torque, making it a true beast on the road, and a much better choice.
Did you move from La Mesa to General Rv between your two PDI's? As this is your second attempt at this, you get major points for never exhibiting any signs of frustation. I would have been mumbling under my breath. Some of this stuff does not look like it would be easily rectified. For the 3rd attempt, do they let you examine this one again or will it be another one? I have to say you have a great taste in TV programs. I watch and enjoy that one all the time. :) I am beginning to reconsider my thoughts of getting one of these. I find it interesting that Thor has somebody monitoring the complaints on the Tranquility/Sanctuary Facebook page. I think they attempt to address them. Good luck moving forward.
Yes, I moved from La Mesa to General RV to see if maybe I would have a different experience. Unfortunately, they did not do a proper inspection either and it is very stressful and frustrating. Everything is fixable and I do not mind correcting little things as they come up, but I would like to start with an RV that has been properly inspected and issues corrected. Thanks for Watching.
Thanks for the compliment. I do not mind helping people if I have the time and I do not have to travel too far. But in the end, it is your RV and you need to be happy with the purchase. Thanks for Watching!
The sad part about watching this video is even when you buy brand-new rv you still got those little issues with panel Gaps this is leaking and this is not tighten this is a use rv They just don’t build anything good anymore like they used to
I agree that some RV manufacturers need to step up their quality control. The good news is that I have been seeing some improvements with some manufacturers. Thanks for Watching!
Why are there so many issue with these RVs ? I can't believe the lack of workmanship. A huge turn off for me who has been looking for sometime. Is that because there are not produced at one facility? With the exception of the passage midwest, well built and superior reputation
I plan on towing my Can Am Ryker and diesels are better for towing as they have more torque. I am also concerned that diesel can be harder to find than gas, but I'll be carrying at least 10 gallons in a container as back-up. Thanks for Watching!
The RV industry is suffering due to labor shortages as well as supplier issues. Add to that a shortage in RV repair technicians and purchasing an RV does seem like a futile task. Thanks for Watching!
Unfortunately the RV world is full of poor quality control. However, as long as the issues found during the PDI are relatively minor and can be properly repaired in a timely manner it may still be worth purchasing. Thanks for Watching!
🙄Thor and General RV, I’m sorry but I saw your first inspection and it failed and this is your second one and again a lot of issues, I wouldn’t purchase it
In the RV industry quality control is definitely lacking. When I purchased my Thor Tellaro earlier this year I conducted 3 different PDIs before I finally purchased one. The Tellaro I purchased did have some issues, but nothing serious that would stop me from using it. Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately, I have seen similar issues with other RVs as well. The best advice is to conduct a very thorough PDI. I will be releasing a video soon comparing the top 10 Mercedes 144 platform RVs. Thanks for Watching!

ഇന്നാണ് ഞാൻ അമ്മായി ഒരു വാഹനം ഓടിച്ചു കാണുന്നത് സന്തോഷമായി വളരെയധികം

Airstream has excellent quality. Thanks for Watching!
Good gracious, this is beyond unacceptable. You do a fantastic job checking things out. But Thor sure knows how to inspire a lack of confidence
Wish i was a thorough as you. Did you find as many flaws in your first van?
This was my 3rd Sanctuary and 3rd PDI. The first 2 Sanctuary's I would not accept as they had too many issues. It is very important to be thorough or you could regret the purchase afterward. Thanks for Watching!
Any RV product built on the Ford Transit 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine delivers 375 HP and 470 lb. -ft. of torque, making it a true beast on the road, and a much better choice.
I agree with you that Ford has a nice platform as well. Thanks for Watching!
If more people did this kind of inspection on any kind of vehicle purchase, maybe manufacturers would get their crap together.
I could not agree more! Thanks for watching!
Wanna do my walk through? You are very good. Cheers!!!
Quality control needs to be improved.
Agree. Thanks for Watching!
My way of thinking, you will regret traveling with a diesel, and having to source fuel.
I plan on towing my Can Am Ryker and diesels
are better for towing as they have more torque. I am also concerned that diesel can be harder to find than gas, but I'll be carrying at least 10 gallons
in a container as back-up. Thanks for Watching!
I would never buy right now the quality is crap now.
The RV industry is suffering due to labor shortages as well as supplier issues. Add to that a shortage in RV repair technicians and purchasing an RV does seem like a futile task. Thanks for Watching!
I wouldn’t purchase that. They are too expensive to have so many issues things missing and leaking . This is ridiculous!
This is not good... Thor should be embarrassed. It did help me make a decision however, so thanks!
Unfortunately, I have seen similar issues with other RVs as well. The best advice is to conduct a very thorough PDI. I will be releasing a video soon comparing the top 10 Mercedes 144 platform RVs. Thanks for Watching!
Sadly, Thor's reputation has not changed. Their workmanship is trash and is pretty much common knowledge.

Try 300hp and 400 lb - still a beast.
