      First love the show concept! Now to the rig, it has potential but missing the mark for me. First lose the wardrobe/tv cabinet, total waste of space. This gets you back a table for 2. Lagun table not the leaning tower mess they have now. Make the bed transverse with side flare bump outs for extra space. Agree move the faucet and either a glass top stove or induction. Also get the monitors, etc out of cabinets. Bathroom…yeah needs work lol. But like the drive size and overall attempt.

    Personally I would give this a 1 on the Fun Factor score, the point for being on the Sprinter chassis. Otherwise really no room for gear that weekend warriors or adventurers would have: no interior garage space, can't really mount anything on roof, only real option is to put a rack on the back doors which you can do with any van. Also side note, it's always strange to me how this particular fridge doesn't seem that much bigger on the inside. The freezer is a little bigger but that's about it, for taking up twice the space! I can probably fit as much stuff in my Solis' little NovaKool with a little Tetris magic.

    I've just purchased Thor Tranquility 19P. Most of amenities are the same except the refrigerator and gas range. My van has induction range and refrigerator that can be opened from either side, which is very cute idea. There are a lot of spaces for paper works, cups, ect. in the dash board.. I am very happy with these details..

    Very nicely done... agree with most everything you said. The problem is always layout though, isn't it? Points matter, but if the layout isn't quite what you need, it kind of falls apart. Your GL is the perfect layout for your needs, but really not for us, since we really need the two sleeping areas and the new GL lost that. Will you ever do a point system for the Embassy? Would be interested on your take. I might do just that whenever we get ours.
    It would also be interesting to see a point system when you first get a van, and then after traveling, see if the points change. Be seeing you!

    Thanks, very helpful video, actually trying things out is a great decision tool. Thor build quality, including B Class, is among the worst, in my opinion. Galley is below par. Lithium capacity is low for functionality. Coachman, American Patriot, Winnebago and Jayco/Entegra offer better choices.

    There is an extension for the countertop but it's not convenient. I don't like the counter space, either. I would ditch that table and get one that folds up so I could place wherever. I do like the back but not electric foldout bed. Litterbox area is important!!!! TFS 😻 Britt

    Like the concept. Certainly based on your size, height and weight, things like bed size, bath size, and ceiling height could result in drastically different ratings.

  • @danoc51
    @danoc51 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like your review concept and many good considerations. Also, thanks for giving the bed lengths! I am on the taller side and this is always a big consideration for me. In addition to my height I need about six more inches of bed length to be comfortable. There are a couple of important things I always want to know but that are seldom mentioned. First is the aforementioned bed length. Second, as a single traveler and in need of more space, can bed number 2 be removed to make additional storage space, which can be important info but may not be appropriate for your scoring system. Also, can the refrigerator shelves be adjusted to different heights. I always like to have milk and OJ, which are most often packaged in tall containers. What about 110-volt availability? As for my possible purchase of this particular van, the table and lack of storage would be deal killers. And I would have to give some thought to the cassette toiler. You are a wise person...I hope Thor and the other companies pay attention to your reviews.

  • @esthers5772
    @esthers5772 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really like this practical shopping tool. What is important is how each buyer will be using the van.
    Not a fan of this van. Bathroom was terrible. The kitchen was so poorly thought out. I agree with Scott on the stove top. I can’t see more than one person being comfortable in it. The table mount is old school, I have that style table and want to change it for a Lagun mounted table. The sleep cushions looked way too thin to be comfortable. Also the storage, I’m curious why they don’t put a storage cabinet across the back above the rear doors. I think that omission is a waste of space.
    If you have the chance, look at the 19L model. I think you would really like that configuration.

  • @milesfong3901
    @milesfong3901 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The kitchen and Galley area is a big minus for me. The refrigerator is nearly useless and if this van has lithium why is there still a propane stove and not a portable induction, free up more counter space. Scott in future reviews I would like to see and hear your opinion on quality control and features of a particular van. For instance I don't know if that model is a 4 wheel drive with just standard wheels and tires or how much solar is on the roof.

  • @TrishBenedict
    @TrishBenedict 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don’t know. Without going any further than the Truma control panel I would flunk it right there. Putting something you need to get at and adjust often at the back of a cupboard? I give that an F. And it’s a Thor which is another black mark. They are just generally poorly made, from everything I’ve ever heard about them. Someone said it would be good for tailgating, but then it really misses the mark by making it four-wheel-drive. A pricey option if you’re just going to drive it to a game. And if it has lithium, why don’t they give you a flush induction cooktop instead of a really cheap looking raised propane top? A lot of money for something that has limited functionality (to me, anyway).

      @@gosmall.livelarge Cranky and critical are the names of my game!

    I think I've gotten things sorted out on my 19L. However, I don't want to jinx it by claiming the war is over. Everything seems to be in working order. As cheesy as some of the construction is on the van, I've really grown to like it. Here is the list;
    1. Awning is and was defective from the day of delivery.
    2. Lithium system wouldn't charge via the alternator .
    3. System wouldn't charge on shore power.
    4. Wheels were unable to be balanced requiring replacement. { my expense }
    5. Drawers wouldn't stay closed while van was in motion.
    6. Water pump failed after 4 tanks ran through it.
    7. Clunk in driveline { Mercedes problem not Thor}
    8. Offroad light cover torn , basically a rag. La Mesa said that's how its supposed to be.
    9. Misinformation from Thor on charging the batteries or running the A/C by idling the van for long periods while stationary. A definite negative , as the DPF system and engine could suffer catastrophic damage.
    10. Lastly, absolutely zero service or assistance from La Mesa RV in Sacramento .
    Even with all these problems , Im keeping the van, at this point in time. There have been many times I've considered selling.
