(1:14) In 1989-1990 we used to put a Seagate ST02 with a 157N drive in XT systems at a computer store I worked at.
If I remember correctly, we were able to get a 4:1 interleave with them. This was amazing for an 8 bit card.
One of the reasons that a lot of multiuser systems back in that day used SCSI drives is that they could get better performance out of them. Add SCSI kept advancing with wide, ultra-wide and other speed improvements that kept them ahead of the pack for a long while (similar to what happened with Sata I, II, III) while maintaining backward compatibility. I think it also helped that some of the first CD drives and Tape Drives came out in SCSI versions so you could have 1 card for multiple devices.
Great video! I'm the maintainer of BlueSCSI, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out. I have the high speed card in my iigs and it works great. Good luck on your road to 200 subs, I just subscribed!
Thats for joining our channel and especially the offer to help. I am going to be doing updates/upgrades on a couple vintage macs with the BlueSCSIs and will certainly reach out if I have questions. If you ever need testing of new firmware or features please let me know.
BlueSCSI and Apple II for the win!
Thanks Joe! Going to try them with a couple Macs and a PC as well, but it really is a sweet device to plug directly into a SCSI card on an Apple II.
