My wife and i are also headed to Alaska in late May through June. Celebrating our 30th year of marriage and our 50th state we've visited. We're going in a self converted Sprinter with our two dogs. We enjoy watching your EPIC adventures and have learned things from you along the way. We wish you many more years of EPIC adventures and safe travels.

Man if I was going to be shaving logs like that all day. I think I'd make me two log saw horses carve a shallow saddle in the middle of both saw horses and put sand in it and set your logs on that so you can move them yourself if you needed too.

Beautiful with you, this morning and evening redness wonderful, with the right music, very nice. It's true, everything is earlier this year, our Rhododentron bloomed 4 weeks earlier, in full splendor. Beautiful.
If I were you, I would install two water filters in the bypass and an additional T-piece in front of your water pump on the suction side. T-pieces and screw connections before and after the filters. After the pump, on the pressure side, your house supply and one or two reserve sockets where you can fit hoses. Everywhere ball valves for shutting off and screw connections. It's better and more professional.

Another great video. I am envious with your weather. Our garden beds are still pretty wet and some are still covered in snow. Not much but it's still there. OK I am a bit confused here. Didn't the 2 of you drive to Alaska awhile go and called it the "Empty Nest Series"? Then I thought to myself: "Oh they want to go back and this time with their new truck and you Carol, want to learn to fly fish" (I have never learned that but my late sister did and had a blast doing it) so then I understood why you were going back. Anyways, that drone shot of the sunrise was gorgeous. Almost looked like a painting!!
The trip Carol and I took in the Jeep was actually to Tuktoyaktuk in Northwest Territories Canada. We went to Alaska years ago with the kids, but would really like to go back. Have a wonderful day.

Carol is doing a year+ of service with our church. She currently has an apartment on her Grandparents property where I grew up. She is doing very well and enjoying her time. She plans to come up here to the island in a week or two 👍🏻
I lived outside of Fairbanks for 7 years and traveled all over and was planning on doing a trip this late summer/early fall for my returement from the military but not sure if ill be able too but if not this year it will be next for sure.

Your red deck chairs...are they wood or plastic? Do they have a brand and style number? Your drone footage in this episode was very good. Have you ever considered incorporating drone footage at ground level, following/circling your subject...like when your family were enjoying the meal around the campfire? I read somewhere how an entire movie was filmed using drones, with actors and dialogue and all, providing for a unique perspective.

Caroline is doing awesome. She is in NY this week but plans to come up to the island next weekend. She is 23, Pete is 22 and Dan is 19. unfortunately, we were not gonna make it to Flagstaff, but will let everyone know if we make any of the Expos.

Would love to hear your thoughts on using On X Offroad in Canada. I looked at it briefly and at the time it looked like it was predominantly focused on US. If EFRT recommends this for Canadian travelers navigating crown land then I’ll be ready to subscribe to this service.
Hi there. We’ve only been using it for a short while, but it seems that all of the features available in the US are also available in Canada. The only differences not as many tracks have been laid down by users, especially here in Ontario so the “Discovery” feature isn’t as helpful yet. That will change over time as more people start using the app and recording their adventures. In the western provinces of Canada there seems to be a lot more activity and a lot of trails already marked by users of the app. Hope that helps.

Thanks for subscribing. We’re so glad you found our channel. We fill the normal bear precautions like carrying bearspray and not leaving food out in the open, etc. we haven’t had any dangerous encounters, but we have seen lots of bears, etc.. congrats on retirement.

in and out of a five gallon pail. we don't use much

Mostly it comes out in the wash but if it is persistent we use rubbing alcohol. That works well 👍🏻
How do you shower when the water is not running?
We bucket in the water. We use a “Geyser” shower. 🚿
