Il y a 1 an, un dimanche, je suis passée devant le château. J'avais entendu parler d'un anglais, il parle d'ailleurs un français parfait, qui avait acheté le château. Je suis rentrée car je voyais quelqu'un travailler dans le parc. Étonnant! Un dimanche! Je lui ai demandé s'il était le propriétaire. Il a eu la gentillesse de me faire visiter le château. C'est vraiment un garçon admirable. Je suis son vlog depuis ce jour là. J'ai 80 ans et espère voir la fin des travaux 😅

Yes, but it is always sort of slapstick when stuff starts to fall apart then like in slow motion that causes another part to fail then before you know it avalanche. It was good comedic timing.
It takes all kinds to make the world go round. I like to see what he accomplishes because every step foward is a step closer to getting this château livable.
Architect here - One of the walls of the hole is the main house foundation wall and the other 3 sides are the foundation for the bay window which sticks out from the main wall. Typically, this hole is filled in solid with building rubble so you don’t have to build short little floor joists to support the floor.
I have a question for the architect. I was wondering if a stone/brick/mortar exterior shell is somehow fastened to the main wood or steel frame. As a kid I would see bricklayers attach a galvanized metal strip to the wood frame of the structure and “marry” it to the brick wall with mortar every so many rows to stabilize the outer shell. The walls of this “chateau” are basically resting on the foundation walls and nothing else. Seems precarious unless you somehow “connect them to the main structure. (Although they do lodge the new i-beams with mortar in the cubbyholes) Your thoughts?
Obviously progress is being made but there is still a lot of loose brickwork up top that needs addressing, once that and the roof is completed then it will be a milestone and hopefully far less hazardous, things are improving from the wobbly trestles used initially also, due to improved finances by the channel being successful which is a hugh plus, they could do with more personal protection but that goes in one ear and out the other, apart from Nick who "mostly" wears his!?!

Weather Watcher is really good at interpreting weather charts/models. The rain is there for the weekend from Nordic peninsular down to Italy. Looks horrendous. It will move East to let dry weather move in next week. Going to be unusually cold in GB and Northetn Europe then. Sorry, can't help myself discussing weather. English born and living in Ireland, we get a lot of weather in both countries. Lol

I'd like to see a whole room dedicated to the history of the chateau, as in pictures, the fire, architectural finds, et al but not buried in the floor but backlit on certain walls. An historical journey!
Calvin looks amazing. He looks like he lost at least 25 lbs. (11 kilograms) and is working out. And that manual material lift has really been the work horse and necessity of this project. It took me 30 minutes to find what it was called and find it in the U.S.
