Thank you for showing this video. She is the best soprano in the world. Her voice is like velvet an still she have these great hight notes. She is my idol.
This is an exquisite performance of a gorgeous piece of music. I love the gracefully slow tempo... it enables Tebaldi to explore and express the emotional meaning of every word and every musical phrase.
It’s often easier to moderate out comments than try to engage through ad hominem attacks. Someone who’s flat out wrong won’t realize their mistake by being insulted.
Actually, I have to agree with Conghoan1998, her B natural was just a hair flat. It happens even to the best singers, sometimes you just don't quite land on the center of the pitch. It doesn't mean it happens all the time. And I enjoy Tebaldi much more than Callas, so you can't blame it on prejudice.
Tebaldi singing "Un Bel di Verdram" (wonderful) - she IS "Butterfly". It is always a little difficult with older recordings to tell about tuning as we now listen to music with all the pluses of modern technology but I do think that Tebaldi was just a "hairs breath" flat - complete lack of support (collapsing the ribs) would have lost the note. I think here it is more a case of not "thinking upwards" on the note too keep its brightness (caused by mental or physical tiredness sometimes).
La voce per una Wally da sogno: forza, dolcezza, passione ed orgogliosa castità virginale...
She was the first operatic voice I ever heard, at the Old Met. I've been an opera lover ever since.

Qual meraviglia ascoltare la Tebaldi nella Wally, alla radio!
Renata's molten tone carried me into the world of opera 27 years ago. Thank you, Renata.

BATU DI GESER _ BATU...BATU...
Most definitely NOT flat, perhaps not as colorful as Maria. Nicely performed, brava! Be sure to check out Montserrat's rendition. ♥
not bad.
Not for me I'm afraid....
