Your videos are the first I've ever heard it used. Down here in Tennessee/Arkansas, we draw a pill at registration and that's where we start our Heats. One or two tracks roll for an invert for the first three rows in the feature. Only time we even do qualifying is when a series comes around and they qualify their class.

I’m starting to realize a lot of people out west don’t use handicapping, not that there’s anything wrong with that. It’s interesting hearing how different racing is all over the place!

I did not know this, so consider me taught.. great vid and thanks to Danny for explaining what seems to be a very fair and yet challenging way to line up the cars...

I was never exactly sure how handicapping worked. I think I have a pretty good understanding now. Thanks for the great video Mandee !

I've been going to the races since 1955, early years at Fonda, NY.
I never really tried to figure out the magic to car positions until now!
Thanks, Mandy! Mike's doing well in the ESS sprints points.... WillyB

A three in a row race driver appearance is good for the smaller teams in giving them a better chance at the prize money and a good business decision for the track as it can increase the entries. Good explanation of handicapping.

Over twenty some year's pitting I've never heard of this.we draw a number at the gate and that is where you start the heat whether you are there all year or a one time thing due to your track isn't running

Donald Gamer it is a northeast thing especially in the modifieds. Worked well till about 10 years ago. Now the speed differential isn’t nearly as great as it used to be.

I wished they used more handicapping down here in Georgia. At most tracks, the top classes time trial every week. Some tracks use the spin of a wheel to provide a small invert to the feature. Others line straight-up from the time trials. From a fans perspective, this certainly curbs the entertainment potential of the feature.

I agree. They definitely need to keep the racing interesting!
