  • 👉🏾 We react to BTS HARDSHIPS | Antis, plagiarism, sajaegi, petitions | Struggles throughout the years
👉🏾 It’s amazing the effort HATERS will go through to see others fail. The constant denial of greatness only makes them look petty and immature. There’s no denying the existence of ARMY now!
👉🏾 This reaction did highlight information we already knew about BTS, but sometimes, it’s great to hear information we already knew and even gives us reminders for information we had forgotten!

Regarding V mentioning his Grandmother's passing, he only shared it because BTS was getting so many questions on why he was looking so sad in their performances during that time.
He didn't want the fans to be sad and worry so much about him.

In addition, I believe the 49th day is very significant in Korean culture, based on the the Buddhist belief that after a maximum of 49 days a soul will pass on to be reborn, and during that period the soul is vulnerable to fears and shocks, but can hear prayers and good wishes supporting the transition to the next life. My heart clenched when V talked about his grandmother's 49th day: no wonder he was in tears - due to his work he could not attend the mourning ceremonies with his family. The use of such honest vulnerability to attack a young man was brutal and ignorant - I hope.

    • @pychiu9426

Actually the 49th days after-death is the day we expect the passed soul will come back and visit us before they move on to the next stage, and the saddest point is when Tae heard the news of his grandma passed away, he was in Philippines and he cannot go back to Korea due to the schedule...

The misogyny song mentioned is called War of Hormone. I have lots of feminist friends and i'm a feminist myself and none of us see any misogyny in that lyrics, but some people do. After they apologize they never performed this song again, not even once, and antis ALWAYS love to bring this topic back into the conversation. Not just that, but they are ALWAYS bringing back some problematic things they've said in 2013/2014. The boys have already apologized for everything they did wrong in the past, learned from their mistakes and evolved, and that's what matters.
(And sorry for any grammar mistakes, english is not my first language)

Last episode: in Korea the most important shows of the year are in Christmas and the new year, in one of that BTS was treated very poorly, in 2018 they even don't gave them enough chairs to sit, they guys had to take turns, and other things. The last year BTS didn't attend because they were in New York Times Square performing. That company throw a tantrum and didn't call any group of big hit, so TXT and Seventeen were sort of "blacklisted". This year Big Hit announced they are going to have their own End of the year concert for the company groups, and the other company was pissed...
I'm a fan of Big Hit because they protect our boys.

Antis : childish and immature toxic people who are fans of other groups, hating on their favorite group's competitors just because they're a "threat" to their favorite group's success, at least in their heads. Since BTS was growing rapidly and was becoming the big thing, achieving more and more and winning more and more awards, these people wanted to stop them somehow. It happens with probably every group in k-pop, but on a different scale, because BTS was getting too big and they didn't like it, so they went extra mile with trying to make them lose at least a bit of their sales, fame or whatever else. It's mostly from Korean "fans", because they're a lot more into the idols' lives than the foreigners, many of them have that twisted "they're mine" mentality, they treat them like they own them, it's a very interesting topic. They seem to really like causing a lot of drama and enjoy being a pain in the ass for the sake of it.

    • @VenieRay
      @VenieRay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I also read that one factor is that BTS was considered an outlier (an “other”) and the industry and fans, at that time, weren’t used to a group that’s not from the big 3 achieving success... their stages were cut off or were shortened. Their “dressing room” was right outside restrooms... For the fans of the big 3 groups, it was hard to grasp that a group from a small company, one that was near bankruptcy, was starting to take over the race and winning over their faves. ..also, regarding these fans sending death threats, trending hate hashtags, etc, there’s that mob mentality. One person may hesitate to do those things but knowing you have a fandom to do it with you makes you feel more gutsy, less accountable for your negative actions because you’re in a group doing it... which is why I applaud BigHit for protecting their artists and filing charges against those who are found to malign BTS... You might hear ARMYs saying that BTS only has ARMY. BTS still face challenges, but maybe a different set of challenges. They still face prejudices, such as no radio play in the US (despite the many song requests by fans) or articles written about them that put them in a box. ARMYs can be very protective and after watching these videos or bearing witness to them myself after becoming ARMY, I totally understand why.

Thank you for checking out more of their content. They have and continue to get hate, to this day. It boggles the mind. They are some of the most humble and hard working guys, but others who are jealous or hateful just can't let them do their thing and live their own life.... I don't know how they can stay so strong but am so proud of them. I think this is the main reason why ARMY can be what others consider "overly sensitive" because we know what they have been through for years. Some ANTIS tell ARMY not to vote on things so that their own artists can win. They spend more energy hating on the guys or hating on ARMY than on giving love to the artists they love. Sad. Some go so far as to pretend to be ARMY so they can act like jerks and stir up hate and drama. Don't get me wrong, every family has some nuts and ARMY isn't any exception - but the vast majority are truly lovely people. Anyway, thanks again! Appreciate ya'll!

Guys I'm 50 I'm a proud ARMY. The song antis mentioned is WAR OF HORMONES, it's a wonderful song and believeme there's nothing wrong in the lyrics of this song, they talked about how young boys (teenagers) feel in that point of their live, they talk about testosterone and things like that, I mean let's be honest we know most part of guys at that age don't think to much with their brain but with their hormones and they only talk about that, but there's nothing offensive in their lyrics. Reguetton (Maluma, JBalvin, Bud Bunny's songs are really offensive, they're disgusting) some western songs too but not this song. The dark side of kpop is that fandoms can be extremely toxic as you could see and there's an Agency one of the most big in South that is famous for been aggressive they don't even take care of their own idols so people from de industry who knows them, think that this agency has been behind this attacks against BTS because one of the most biggest group of this agency had been winning for 4 consecutive years as the best group so basically they couldn't accept BTS could be the winner even if they deserved it!!! Please react to WAR OF HORMONES. (sorry for my grammar, English is not my language) 💜💜💜

Why is it that people apologizing for their English generally have better grammar than I do - a native speaker. Hehe 😂
Aside from the malicious actions by agencies, it seems like every complainer willfully ignored that War of Hormone is satire. It actually *mocks* male dominated society's demand that boys be macho and dominant over women in order to become men. Just too complicated for them I guess. 😝

You didn’t notice the song that was played at the end of the video is called “2!3!” and it’s a really touching song because it was BTS' promise to the ARMYs. BTS had written/produced that song dedicated for the ARMYs as the first official fan song. Before that song was released on 2016 there was a long period of time when BTS and ARMYs were receiving so much hardships and hate from other people. ARMYs kept on counter attacking those hates while BTS are defending the ARMYs.
The amount of hate that BTS are receiving compared to other groups are ridiculous. Up until now, the question "what has BTS done to deserve all those hates?" still lingers on us. They've always been very humble, down to earth and respectful towards others. It's so unfair why people have to hate them and try to ruin their career.
It was so hard at that time, then the song came out on OCTOBER 10, 2016 (track #14) and it made us all cry. BTS knew that as they went through every hardships along their journey, the ARMYs are going through the same and yet the ARMYs still believe in them and fight for them no matter what. It's like BTS is telling us that it sucks that we really can't walk on a perfect path without struggles and without receiving hates from other people but still everything will be okay as long as we are together walking at the same path and never stop believing in each other. I remember, after that BTS went live and they said that no matter what happens, we have to protect each other always. They usually perform that song at the encore part of their concerts, they let the fans sing with them and as the music ends the fans continue to sing without the music and that's one of the most beautiful parts of their concerts. BTS had already released a bunch of fan songs for the ARMY (like Magic Shop, Pied Piper, Love Myself, Mikrokosmos, etc.) but "2!3!" will always be that song that holds a special place in our hearts that no other song can replace.💜
And yes, BTS/BIGHIT/ARMY is a family. We got each other's back, protect, defend, support each other and make each other happy and proud.💜
Please react to “2!3!” By BTS (lyric video)
    And the “2!3! LIVE-PURPLE OCEAN PROJECT” 😊

Unlike another unnamed group who gets crazy streaming numbers and has half the fandom, but I've seen videos from insiders of their companies showing rooms of people and computers, just streaming those vids and songs.
2 of the big kpop companies are super corrupt, but then they would say it's just business. BTS were making waves, so they ensured their groups fandom has something to blow up, whether it was petitions, accusations of saegiji (which had to go to court btw, because its a serious allegation) or plagiarism. They are still trying the plagiarism thing, meanwhile Army has found many who have plagiarised their works around the world. The death threats and whatnot.....those are from seriously disturbed people.

The problem with Antis is not with other groups themselves it is just the fans of those groups. A lot of the groups are friends with each other. The Antis are either focused on a specific group and they don't want any other group to do better and don't believe any other group could do better or the Antis could be 'fans' of a company and all the groups in that company only and again don't think any group from any other company should be doing better than their favorites.

Antis is short for anti-fans, the opposite of fans. There is a four part series called karma is an army, that shows how antis or just people opposed to BTS tried to block their success at every stage, and then goes on to show what happened after each of those incidents, and how BTS overcame them. Although they do swear in those videos if you are worried about having that on your channel. But it gives you an idea of the resistance they have faced, and still have to face every step of the way. Also helps you understand more why they had to respond to their haters in the Cipher series and also in the song Mic Drop.

Thanks for doing this one, guys. 👍👍 V mentioned their win on Music Bank was the 49th day after his grandma's passing, which is significant. There is an Eastern tradition that after the 49th day, the family performs a special ritual for the peace of the deceased person's soul. That's why it was especially a hardship that V was not able to be with his family for this time.
Also, the song that got a lot of flack for misogyny is "War of Hormone" which was clearly written from a teen boy's perspective about girls and their attractiveness. I think they've grown a lot from that situation because they realized even more how much of an impact their words have. Since then, RM has been extremely careful, as you saw him explain in the vid. It's unfair that BTS received so much backlash for these types of lyrics when it was tame compared to a lot of lyrics out there.

you know, when BTS debuted in 2013 the Kpop world was dominated by 3 big companies--SM, YG and JYP. These 3 companies had a stranglehold on the media with ties to newspaper editors, entertainment reporters, etc. They are mainly the ones responsible for BTS having a difficult time getting airtime or being invited onto showcases, etc. because their idols always had priority booking.
Because of this Bang Si-hyuk, the CEO of Big Hit ,developed alternative strategies: sending them on tour overseas and developing on-line reality shows. So BTS' international presence became huge long before they had the same success in Korea. The reason so many fans were stunned by their awards is that they were largely unknown in Korea. That's why they were accused of sajaegi. Because how could an unknown group sell so many records?
Actually, BTS did not become widely known in S Korea until recently, like 2018. After they won the 2017 BBMA's Top Social Artist the big 3 companies managed to bury the story. They tried to do the same when BTS performed live at the AMAs, but fans in Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. put up youtube videos and overseas radio stations announced it. Still in Korea it wasn't reported for over a week.
Hard to believe, I know. If you want an example of how they were treated by some media people, just look up 'Jungkook and the hamburger incident.'
No other kpop group had the struggles these boys did, with vitriol from other fandoms, vicious attacks on social media, blackout by the mainstream media. Everyone seemed very threatened by them.

Background History; There were 3 major music agencies, YG entertainment, JYP entertainment & SM. They had the monopoly on the industry at the time smaller agencies struggled as a result. So like the groups the fandoms were just as passionate as Army was. Back in the day BTS was rising in the ranks, even though the groups themselves had friends in other groups the fandoms didnt really think of that and occasionally still dont. There was a group (name will not be mentioned) who was doing extremely well, however at that time BTS was rising through the ranks and the "Wings" album was the best yet they had releaseed. So when they started winning the fandoms started protesting. Not all but its understandable if an underling jumps in you do question validity. I did recently myself when BTS didnt get an award (although now i am so sick of the amount of awards they have won now, I only want a grammy for them and dont care about anything else). But because BTS are so big who would dare challenge them. That is ignorant and neive on my part as in some areas other groups will slowly rise and be competitors. Groups for example NCT, Blackpink, Got7, Monsta X are all rising in the US all the time, but i dont think of them as i follow BTS, hence when they have successes i find myself suprised and go "really now'. But i now have to keep an open mind as I am actually happy for those groups and slowly following them as well as some rookie groups as well. I dont see a reason to put my hate or dislike unjustly on another group after seeing what BTS had to face itself. But you can understand Army's justification to protect.

No no, not the artists. The fans of the other artist they wanted to win. It was just worded strangely. 16:48
And actually to see them interact with other idols is precious. They are friendly with every idol, a little awkward around the girl idols, but super respectful and other artists seem to love BTS, so these bonehead anti-fans need a trip to a therapist.

I think it is important to recognize that antis for the most part represented a toxic subset of the fan base of the group which was best positioned to be the dominant player in K Pop given that Big Bang was going to be removed from the active K Pop scene due to members fulfilling their military service requirements. That group was an ascendant concept group of considerable talent fielded by SM Entertainment. SM was and still is a large music corporation which engages in a variety of anticompetitive practices relative to the broadcast media. SM practices historically made it near impossible for any small company offerings to gain real success, though BTS brilliantly figured out how to bypass these impediments by using TH-cam. These certain members of the fan base for this group effectively supplemented SM's economically purposed actions with extensive internet attacks at BTS, hitting BTS within a medium they were mastering. They did this in order for their favorite group to retain its top position. Their premise was that cutting down or even destroying BTS would keep their favorites on top.
The name of the group is EXO. It must be emphasized that EXO members are good and decent people not involved in these shenanigans. Indeed, many members are friends with BTS members and their music and performance are top notch. The antis are a subset of a fan base most who would never instigate such a thing. Antis are an unfortunate byproduct of a uniquely competitive Korean music industry. Unfortunately it only takes a few bad actors to spark a group think feeding frenzy even though the people jumping in to some extent understand it is irrational and mean spirited. So in my mind, a few start the crap and others seeing the crap started going along with it, in internet speak trending it.

Yg is another company who has mastered the loopholes for finding ways to push their artists up in the rankings. Ever wonder how Blackpink achieved so many mvs with over 1billion views with size of its fan base ? YG has listed them on TH-cam under the listing of blog and personalities, so when they drop a mv, they only need to watch for 3-6 seconds to be counted as a view. Also, there is no deleting of views from bots under that listing. Unlike BTS mvs, where we have so many stringent rules for views to count. Also, BTS is one of the few, and I mean FEW major artists- worldwide, that do not sell advertising that reroutes to the artists mvs that drives up the votes in major award voting. Most artists use this, including, Ariana grande, Taylor swift, Blackpink, exo, Ed Sheeran, etc . In fact, it was so bad that some awards have banned the selling/buying of ads in award voting. BTS also does not do any bundling to count for album sales. If BTS sells 2.8 million albums, it means that 2.8 albums were sold. Other artists may say they sold 1.4 million albums, which means, maybe 946,000 albums were actually bought.
Unfortunately the music industry is full of corruption, cheating, loopholes and unfair practices. It is a breath of fresh air to see a tiny, struggling company from a small country climb its way to the top, using only talent and grace in the face of hate rise to become the biggest group globally. It is a testament that love trumps hate. Antis hate is stronger than their love for their own favorite artists. That is very sad. They still, after years, have failed to learn, Hate always loses.

The thing about BTS being accused by misogyny.. I find that hate so irrelevant being international army.. I have heard worst lyrics with many singers from around the world... But maybe its because of the Korean culture that they made such huge issue out of it (Even though my boys don't deserve such hate.. as most of the hate was pointed towards RM because of the song i will not mention.. and i hope none other army do.. That sweet and senstive guy got depressed)
But the BEAUTY of BTS is.. its not that they don't make mistakes.
Its that they are not afraid to accept it.. The part where RM told that now he makes his lyrics with more awareness and check them by professors of women studies etc. That was him reflecting on his deed, he removed the song from soundcloud because of all the hate..and also because maybe he truly felt it was a mistake (which he didn't have to... but its still his choice..if he feels like doing it..we support him)
Its not only one incident.. there are many times.. when Antis were just waiting for BTS to step a bit out of line and they came at them like vultures..
I wrote this comment so that I can tell you guys.. That BTS is not Perfect, they are Humans,.. like any other people.. they make mistales, grow.. learn from them.. BUT OUR BOYS ARE NEVER AFRAID TO ADMIT IT.💜
(I am sorry if i offend any PASSIONATE ARMY.. but as RM said.. we all grow and learn from our mistakes.. So lets remember that)
Also.. This is one of the many beautiful reasons that he is my BIAS

Many fandoms even bashed Bts and Army for trying to get a American Bilbard Awards saying we'll never get and and for us to keep dreaming. Some even voted for other Artists so Bts wouldn't win. But after we got it many anits said the win was worthless and didn't matter. Others all the sudden wanted their fav groups in the American Bilbard Awards.
It's still an on going thing with the Grammy Awards. Laughing and mocking us for trying. When one of the album's won best packaging (it was a slab in the face as Grammy like many American Awards are racist to foreign artist and don't let them win in big categories, Bilbard made a catagorie for Kpop just to separate us from other artists) the anits began mocking the album saying it looks like a hair in the shower.

For some reasoning on why antis and the industry is like this, there's a video called "Why BTS is treated unfair in korea" by Korea Crush and it explains... a *little* of it. It goes even deeper and tbh there's not going to be any videos that fully explain and explaining it would be like a really long essay, but it's... it's a *lot*.
BTS were never meant to succeed. but unfortunately for the industry, all their hate and mistreatment towards BTS enraged ARMY & made us unstoppable. We learned how to do it all ourselves. We promised in 2015 after the mistreatment got worse that we would take BTS so high that they couldn't be ignored. I'd say we kept that promise. But it's still... not easy. They still get treated like sht.

Well, the death threats etc...it was kinda about the money, but more so, I would say, about the status.
To understand this, you gotta go back and know how the Korean music market was back in 2013, 2014 etc...
There were three companies that had control (ans still do) over almost all the market, they are called "The Big Three" and not for nothing, they are YG, JYP and SM (Psy, the "Gangnam Style" guy, he is from YG). Before BTS, no group from a small company had ever won a grand price in those awards, so these companies, as you can asume, were not very happy that the status quo was being challenge, and so a discredit campaing began in the shadow (and not so much in the shadow), gotten them more and more haters. It was really awful and dirty...
The thing is, Big Hit and BTS got through that and are now so much more succesful than all those other goups and companies, but stilll...it hurts me to see all these hardships they had to go through

Back then, antis are fans of other kpop groups that were popular at the time.. back then the big 3 companies artists (sm, yg, jyp) basically rules the charts (mostly exo and big bang fans).. i remember before bts another grp almost got got as popular as their faves which was b.a.p but their management f*ck up.. this grp was the target before bts.. but then bts started to get popular so they became the new target.. so the plagiarism and misogyny accusations came from them.. the plagiarism got so bad, that exo fans accused bts of copying the school boy concept (which is ridiculous as it's not a new concept or belong solely to exo) and big bang fans accusations were even more ridiculous since the accusations range from copying hair color to face expression (for example, if a big bang member has a sad expression on album cover, no one else in the world is allowed to look sad?).. in short, kpop fans are crazy.. i know not all are like that but unfortunately there were loud and loads of them.. before this, army is such a small fandom that everytime bts get accused of something our voices were shut out.. and those accusations became viral and got pickup by the media which made the accusations became mainstream and the public believed it.. so army were bullied irl too because of it.. that's why it still pisses me off because i remember how badly army were bullied back then (before bts blew up)..
Also these antis even followed and took pictures of army in public (without consent) to "expose" that army is purposely wearing bts merch or holding an army bomb so she got bullied online.. which wasn't even true, she didn't even attend the other grp's event, she just happened to be in the same mall.. and once, antis stalked and took pictures of army buying bts album at the shop saying look how little ppl actually go buy the albums, so there's no way bts sold that many albums, bighit paid the charts to lie and to the best album awards.. the thing is, have u heard of online shopping? Since most of bts fans at the time were overseas, we all bought their albums online(this was back when bts was more popular overseas than in south korea)..
If i want to list down all these bs the antis pull, it would take me too much time... but as a person who had been thru all that, i always tell newer army be thankful that army fandom is much bigger and strong now... i usually tell them to just ignore the hate and don't respond..

some of the problems stemmed from a cultural standpoint in Korea. Perhaps this video might help you understand that aspect of it a little better th-cam.com/video/s9jb0Fde_n4/w-d-xo.html Also, there are some real horror stories of the unbelievably terrible things that happened to Korean ARMY...bullying, assault, releasing of personal information to other groups' fans so they could locate and harass ARMY...it got really bad..one groups' fans in particular made ARMY's lives hell....people had to be ARMY in secret for fear of retribution from other fandoms. I became an ARMY in 2014 and the crap I have seen would make you think humanity was not worth saving...but DESPITE all the hate here you have BTS being a shining beacon of light and hope and courage and humbleness and how to really be a good human being not only to themselves but to the rest of the world. They truly believe and live as global citizens.
