Bob started touring in the early 1960s, when he was high school. Friday after school, him and his band would “drive 16 hours” from Michigan to do a gig in Florida. After the gig, they’d drive back to Michigan so he could be back in class Monday morning. What a legend.
He was also elected into the Songwriters Hall of Fame...had a 20 year period he put out 10 albums and everyone of them sold at least 1, 000,000 copies...his fan base might not have been the biggest , but were one of the most loyal , middle , working class , so they had some money , and spent some every time Bob and the bullet's put out an new Album , filled the Live show venues , bought a shirt ( maybe not the highest end ones , again mid-western middle class , and Bob was dedicated to those fans , reportedly doing 265 shows in a 365 day period..and his Version of Little Drummer Boy is only rivaled by Bing Crosby ( on his own not the Crosby / Bowie version , and im not knocking their version I just put Bing , Bob then Bing and Bowie...
Bob Seger is a great rock singer, songwriter & musician known for his raspy powerful voice. He wrote & recorded songs that dealt with love, women & blue-collar themes. "Turn The Page" is my favorite song by him. Love the sax solo. He has so many great songs especially in the 70's-80's such as "Old Time Rock & Roll", "Against The Wind", "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Mainstreet", "Still The Same", "Hollywood Nights", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Roll Me Away", "Shakedown", "We've Got Tonight" etc.
They would give us a hard time back in the day for having long hair. That's where the "woman or a man" line came from and yes, we were always outnumbered so we just lived with the insults. The girls liked our hair long, so that made up for it. 🥰
I absolutely love this song. IMO it's his best. It's also been covered a couple of times, first in 1974 by Aussie singer Jon English and then in 1998 by Metallica, and i love all 3 versions...❤
I grew up in Detroit. I went to high school in the sixties. Bob sometimes played at sock hops that we attended. I also saw him at Pine Knob in Michigan, an outside area.
I’ve met Mr Seger. Several times. He would not remember. He was polite, soft spoken, kept up with his people. My favorite memory is his roadies, after the stage was cleared, wanting to ride the mechanical bull. He was exhausted. He sat at the bar, and smiled, when a bar back cranked the thing up for them and let them ride. A kind, generous, man.
🎼🎼☕. Can I tell you a little about this song Saeed ? First , I have loved it since the 80s when I was a teen. It is certainly a sing-a-long song. It is one of those songs that you can belt at full voice when you are alone , at home , in your car , walking on a nature trail etc. So , when I got together with my guitarist and me on keyboards ...... this was the first song that we played. He could get "the feels" on the guitar and I would sing it from all my memories. I still love singing at home , just me and the keyboard and a microphone and an amp .. and after 40 years of knowing this song it still has the same impact. Thank you for choosing this special song More Bob Seger please ... I will recommend "Hollywood Nights" and "Still The Same". TY 🎼
I haven't been to many concerts. Stevie Wonder, ZZ Top, Ricky Skaggs and a few others but the best one I ever attended was Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band. It was absolutely the very best!
Nice reaction! In addition to the R&R Hall of Fame Bob was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Roll Me Away, Like a Rock, Against the Wind are all great.

Thanks for the reaction!! One of my favorite songs is Shame on the Moon. This is one Bob didn't write, but he and the band kill it. Rodney Crowell, another great songwriter, wrote the song, and I think you will thoroughly enjoy the lyrics along with the performance.

Turn the page is on my top 25 of all time. He weaves a story with the perfect words and fills you with so much emotion with his amazing voice, you are wisked away to the scene he describes. Decades later I still play this song on a loop because I hate that it ends too soon and I need more. Born and raised in Michigan, I have been a fan since very early in his career.
Bob Seger analogy... His first hit on radio in Detroit was "Persecution Smith"..that was his Last Heard Band, then he went Bob Seger System, and then Silver Bullet Band...
Seger is a master storyteller. This is one of my favorites by him. Although the style is completely different, this makes me think of The Warning's Hell You Call A Dream.
A great reminder that touring is a bear. Spent 4 years as a roadie, guitar tuner... some great times ----but a whole lot of sitting in a truck or a bus a ;ot of going to the arena 6 hours before the show and busting my can until morning came
What a great reaction. From my viewpoint, you listened to the song and fully realized the meaning. I watch reaction videos just to see what someone else thinks about a song that I like. So many reactions are just sad commentaries of younger people today. Thanks for not being a part of that group! Best of luck with your channel.
In my ears, Bob Seger is the greatest Rock and Roller ever! I have had the pleasure of seeing him “Live” 20+ times and that will never be enough! He was utilized in soo many movie soundtracks, and he Was “The” Soundtrack to sooo many of our lives! Simply the best. And the writing is phenomenal!
I went to Nashville for my birthday in2016 and visited the studio where my nephew was working. Found out that I missed Bob Seger recording there by two weeks. Have always loved his music !! Best album by him, in my opinion is Live Bullet !!
There are several great 70s songs about playing on the road.. Next for you might be Jackson Browne's Load Out and Stay. Even Prog has its touring songs. One of the greatest Yes pieces, Close to the Edge is about the band touring. You wont get it from the lyrics but trust me, its about their genesis and the life of a touring band. Each "season" grows in emotional grandeur and the interludes pull you through to the next season.. 19 minutes of pure musical mastery..
Hi, Saeed😊. Each time he did a verse, he ended it with "turn the page," as if he was having you visualize his life , you turn the page for another look into his life. What a fantastic storyteller he is. Now, I'm typing this before I hear your thoughts, so I'm probably only repeating what you are going to say. You are so good at interpreting these songs 😊. Bob Seger is one of the best singer/songwriters in the business, and his voice draws you into the story he is telling. Thank you and hugs to you and your family ❤️🫂😊

What an incredible storyteller. And that voice. I have covered this song for years and now hearing it again, how it is intended to be played I’m thinking I’ll retire it from my set list. 😦 It’s so visual. You can just imagine him living this while doing his constant touring.
Bob Seger was not from the East Coast or the West Coast. He was middle America, and for a long time he was only a regional star. He finally broke through as a national performer. I don't know how much of a break through it was in "Risky Business" where Tom Cruse dances in his underwear to Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll.".
It's common theme for people who tour on the road. This song, "Faithfully" by Journey and "The Loadout / Stay" By Jackson Brown and probably more I can't think of, strike a cord and memory for people who tour. They are all amazing heartfelt songs! Bob Seger can paint a picture in your head better than most.
Bob Seger is one of those artists who just has a deep catalog of really good music Sounds like Come to Papa Hollywood nights Her strut Kathmandu Like a rock Main Street Etc. etc. etc.

Long hair for men was really looked down on. Aging myself, but I had a scrapbook with an article from my freshman year in high school. The headline was GIRLS WIN, BOYS LOSE DRESS CODE BATTLE. Girls were finally allowed to wear jeans to school, but boys still had to get their hair cut.
Funny you said that the sax was like a movie opening, the player, Alto, made up that sax part. He was told to imagine a 50's black and white film nor movie with a guy standing under a streetlight in the rain, and what you hear is what he came up with.
Think I listened to that more than a million times........ Always when i was disappointed from a human relationship.......or somthing else...... Tried to concentrate to myself........ Bob helped me......... Just turn the page.......
Compared to the Metallica cover of this song, I've heard people comment that Seger's original is slow and boring. But that's exactly the point. In the days before smart phones and satellite radio, long drives were BORING. And in the 1970s, Seger had a lot of long drives across the Midwest to get to venues. Sometimes, over 200 shows a year. I love how the pacing in this song really reflects the boring time between gigs. And then. Alto Reed's plaintive sax alternates with Bob's mountain of a voice, releasing the sadness and anger inherent in the frustration of musicians who are doing what it takes to be successful, but don't know yet if it will be enough. Eventually, it was enough. And the life described in "Turn the Page" is quite a contrast to the later tours. After the success in 1975 and 1976, they were suddenly jetting between concerts, "moving 8 miles a minute, for months at a time" and the lyrics of 1980's " Against the Wind" reflect that change. After "Turn the Page", try "Hollywood Nights". Even though there is no official video because it was pre-MTV days. It's a classic rocker from 1978 and benefits from being released before the over-engineered music of the 1980's. It's so alive! They didn't even gate his voice. And I swear the quick breaths that got left in the final recording help make the song sound more exciting. Many great songs and some truly memorable lyrics.
I had a few songs memorized for when I was on the tractor all day. Late '70s, no music, no cab, no AC, just dust, SUN, and whatever songs you could remember, or, make up words to because you only know the "hook". This one I memorized "word for word".

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band have tons of great songs!!!
He's been my favorite for many many years. Keep bringing Seger.
He wrote this song on his touring bus, in Iowa. He had just played a show in Dubuque, was on his way to Omaha for the next show.
Back in the day especially in the south if a man walked into a place and he had long hair he might not walk out 😮 for real
Ramblin' Man/Beautiful Loser. Two songs that belong together and are always played together. You'll love it!

You should check out "I Knew You When". A tribute to his friend Glenn Frey, formerly of The Eagles
The guy was a poet
This has to be my favourite Bob Seger songs.
My hometown. Detroit ❤
I had a few songs memorized for when I was on the tractor all day. Late '70s, no music, no cab, no AC, just dust, SUN, and whatever songs you could remember, or, make up words to because you only know the "hook". This one I memorized "word for word".
Such a great song. Definitely worth memorizing.
Plenty more Seger to experience.
Looking forward to more of his music.
Roll Me Away is a great song about taking some time for yourself and getting away from everything so you can think.
That sounds like something i need to hear 😄
Hollywood nights, good story of mid-west farm boy goes to the big city!
