Chris, enjoyed your video, I need to buy a mast step like yours. So far I haven't had any luck finding one. Can you steer me in the right direction to buy one? Thanks, I'll keep searching.
If you had spliced it 5" above the boom you could then leave the boom with maisail on the lower mast stub and just lowered the part above the boom. No need to remove boom or mainsail from boom. It would work like the Compac Picnic cat or/and Suncat. Lot less work.
someone did this on mine that i just bought and it was terrible job, or has worn over the years. don't feel safe sailing it is so wobbly. too bad i didn't notice it before i bought the boat
I had a O'Day Day Sailor wonderful boat. Pleasant voyages.

Also would like to know where you purchased the hinged mast step??? Thank you?
looks like a nice day sailer.
How did this work out? Is it stable? I have one of these old boats. Thank you.
Chris: where did you buy the mast hinge? I have a similar boat and want to do the same.
D&R Marine out of Massachusetts sells that one
