    I thought I was going to dislike this episode but I loved it. Dior is so excited and her mom is a great motivator. They're a wholesome family. I love how the dad takes care of them and the son is great too.

      if she isn't stalked, taken advantage of, ripped off, mauled, assaulted, on drugs, develop depression and low body image, an eating disorder or suffer severe isolation from travelling alone and sleeping in hotel rooms alone...many things that come with modelling no matter how strong you are. It's not something to aim for.
      Oh, and don't forget seen as only good for one thing, smiling and looking young and pretty.

    I had a black girl in my class with afro hair. One day some girls were having a role play with dresses and costumes, since there was only one tiara, I asked the girls to take turns to be the princess. When it was her turn, I used my own hair band and hair clips to fix her hair so the tiara would fit. being an Asian person, I had no idea about the symbolic meaning and funny relationship between a black female and her hair, nor did i have any idea how to treat her hair. Her mom came to pick her up, she watched her daughter being the princess and she was nearly in tears which shocked me as i thought something went wrong. The next day she came to me and looked me in the eyes and thanked me after her daughter told her how i helped to fix her hair so she can be the princess because she never gets to be a princess in a play. I was so happy and heart broken at the same time. She is no longer my student but the whole family became friends to my own and her mom is one of my close friends whom i learnt a lot from.

    •  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh baloney that she never gets to be the princess. We're not living in the 1920's. Don't know if I can stomach this as I'm sitting on the toilet now taking a poop hahaha. Sometimes have to to put up with Stacey. She is a weird one

    • @amberjin831
      @amberjin831 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      FYI, she did not grow up in the UK and this did not happen in the UK. Maybe things are better for black British people, and I am happy to know that. By the way, not a good idea spending too much time sitting on a toilet unnecessarily.

    I love this family so much. Nothing about them seems forced or faked for the camera. I loved the moment when the dad brought the mom her tea, and she expressed so much appreciation for him, acknowledging that she meant to bring him tea and forgot, and that was how he responded. They truly seem to love and respect one another so much, and it's reflected in their children.

      @Lisargarza 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

      Oh wow, I didn’t pick up on that. Good point. Looking at mom and dad, I bet Dior is going to be naturally svelte her whole life. She was eating chips at one point and their meal times seemed so relaxed and enjoyable. I’m betting she has a pretty healthy attitude about food going forward.

    • @elisemiller13
      @elisemiller13 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      Seems to me it sets an example of healthy attitude that Stacey Did comment. There's so much pain, for girls of all ages about food and fear placed upon us, & shoved into our minds from a young age. Yes! please talk about it and remove the stigma of a carb or a chip, so this b.s. suffering can be nipped in the bud at a young age! Leads to eating the whole bag & models (as well so many others) doing terrible things to their bodies otherwise.

    These kids seem so happy. "Mom's a good one to count on?" Like, come on, how wonderful is that? They are obviously cared for and loved, and they are generally happy. I think stacy said it well about how, if she was able to do this as a young girl, to get to wear makeup and fun clothes and be the center of attention, shed have loved it. And they have decent parents. The parents are really attentive and considerate of their needs. Needs for food breaks, and time off, and education, and time to be a kid. Its just nice.

      Did we watch the same show? The family seems so uptight and snobby. The older kid said he's thankful that he's rich, well he's not rich, his family is..but he thinks he is..lol. I also don't think the little girl is old enough to even make the decision to model, so really, her mom is pushing her into it. The whole thing just gives me the icks!!! 🫣🤨🙄

    What this episode showed me more than anything is that it's really all about confidence and personality because all children are beautiful, just like all adults are beautiful in their own way but with children it's more obvious. Dior looks like my neighbour's daughter and her little model friend looks just like my son's friend from school. They are both really confident girls but maybe not quite as extroverted and bubbly and most importantly they wouldn't like playing dress up for hours.

    Wish Stacey had asked more about if they think over compensating for self-esteem can be more harmful than good. It's good for kids to get a dose of reality. I don't agree that any of this is a good thing, regardless of how good the parents are about it. The young model friend of hers even said that she loves the attention. Did that not raise a red flag for anyone else? Reading the comments they all seem positive. I'm quite shocked. You can create narcissistic adults this way. Not saying they will be. But... better to teach your kids to be humble than "I'm the smartest person in the world and the most beautiful." Feel kind of bad for the son, too.

    I hated the moment where she wasn't into shooting anymore but she had to do it (they promised her chips if she pulled through). And she obviously doesn't even know why and what she's supposed to like. She didn't have an answer about what's the best part of her job. She thinks she likes it, but...
    Everyone here is thrilled and saying how great is that this is not mom's idea (she is accomplished) but i don't see it. I see mother in all of this 100%.

      IDK I read that situation differently. It seemed like Dior just needed a break and mom was attuned to that. Kids have very short attention spans and get cranky easily. It's not like working with an adult. She seemed really excited to get back into it as soon as she was fed and had a bit of a break. To me, it felt more like mom was coaching her in mental fortitude. Finishing what you started and set out to accomplish. It's something that's healthy to teach kids. It's the same reason we tell them to play well at a soccer meet or to create an art project in class. It builds character.

      Hate is such a strong word when you are judging and biased about people you don’t know or have a relationship with. Did you hear the conversations about self hurt from the mother, the love she poured out into her daughter because of how she the mother was treated. The love , thankfulness she voiced and showered towards her husband . The conversation of her son about the fact that he has encountered individuals that looks like him so that he feels at home in his new country and empowered. The self worth and strength and love he exhibits? There is so much to learn from this beautiful family. Look deep and to just to the surface, look without judgement, place yourself in peoples shoes

      @okayyy9740 yes people should but children should be children as long as they can. One day when you're all grown and paying those bills and getting up for work day after day, and hoping the car will make it with the gas you put in because you're broke until next pay. When all that sht happens. You'll wish you was still a kid.

    This was such a nice episode, even though I’m sort of on the fence when it comes to child modeling? Was this filmed recently, or many years ago? Are the girls still friends and interested in modeling, or have they moved on to other interests like sports or STEM?

    I was enjoying this video until the mother made untrue statements about racism in America. She said that police officers and white people in general can just murder a black person and not go to jail. This is perpetuating a lie. No data supports this. For instance, a 2016 rigorous study out of Harvard performed by a black professor (who was surprised at the results and was advised not to publish it);showed no racial bias/tendencies in police shootings and the biggest single cause of murder of a black person is not white people or police - it is black on black homicides. Her type of statement that perpetuates this misinformation is one of the biggest reasons that race relationships in the US have digressed in the last 5 to 10 years. Read Thomas Sowell, Shelby Steele, Walter E. Williams, John McWhoter and other intellectuals (who happen to be black) who have studied and written about race, racism, etc, for years.

      The parents are teaching their kids to hate white people. That attitude will not serve them well in the future.

      Exactly. As someone who’s mixed race (albeit very light skinned) I have to say that the media has perpetrated the narrative that there’s a white cop killing a black person every 5 minutes. It’s not until you read actual statistics (from reputable sources) that you realize it’s not like the media portrays. Also, there’s often important facts that are left out of stories. That does NOT mean that there are not racist people killing other races. It’s just not every 5 minutes like they’d have us believe. It’s so unhealthy for the mind to listen to the news. It’s SO bias! We have to keep our minds our own and make informed thoughts. We do that by taking a step back and looking at the whole picture. Not just what the media feeds us.

      So superficial. I didn't like that little girl saying she's on Instagram and has 10k followers. Not good. And how people comment about how cute she is. And how about the little boy saying he's glad he's rich.

    • @madebylexi
      @madebylexi 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The other little girl isn't the point of this episode, and it's obvious the boy meant that he was grateful that their well-off. That he has a beautiful house while others do not even have a shack. Being rich is a good thing to be thankful for because not everyone is in that position.

    I would have loved for Dior to have been featured in Ebony, which was America's Longest Running Black Magazine that debuted in 1945 and went Bankrupt in 2020. I would have loved for Stacey to have interviewed Girls Aloud and how their lives have changed in the past 22 years. They were so much luckier than most Girl Groups especially the ones from The Video Age. Some ended up Homeless like in SWV (Sisters With Voices), Broke like TLC, or getting cash advances like En Vogue or put their career on the line lke Tameka aka "Tiny" from Xscape. The Young Man is so respectful. However Carribbean & African Parents make their children toe the line when it comes to discipline.

      No, red flags all over the place! Odd how Stacey was so accepting and open with this family and so critical of others. That is to say, I love Stacey's critical nature while staying friendly and warm, and this episode was sorely lacking in that department.

      She did actually - "you're the smartest girl in the world" not exactly helpful. Teaching your kids how to be humble is worth more than a million bucks. They don't seem to understand that.

      I mean it's not like they're GIVING Dior this money. It's a job. It's work that she's getting paid for. I think their son is old enough to understand that. He's fourteen. And I'm sure if he wanted to get into modeling or design an app or when he's old enough work a regular kind of part time job he'd be more than welcome to. These parents seem to encourage their kids to do their own thing.
