My mother wears a lot of this stuff. When i was little i never quite understood it. Now i know. Its a very powerful statement. One that is not arrogant or snobby, just Powerful. It is rare to see Indian women dressed like this in The Fiji Islands. My mother is known for her Chanel.

Not really. I live in Suva. It is not as humid as the western areas in the country, plus one gets used to the weather. Yes you will hardly find people suiting up though. My mother just loves her suits.

My wife use to wear this back in 1980 when we had our first kid but she stop wearing Chanel for a while but it’s 2019 she still buys them and wears them for special occasions, and it suits her 64 years of age.

I actually knew little about the 'chain' & the reasons for it until I started research into this beautiful iconic garment! Then, genius! Simply genius! Its my life's goal to make a " Chanel Jacket" for myself, and mayby a gift for a sweet sister. The reason for my research and its stunning the detail I'm finding. I certainly have a challenge ahead!

I would love to own a jacket like this. The magazine Threads just put out an article on how to adapt the Chanel jacket design for people who want to sew their own, but you can't replicate the real thing. The chain is very clever, I have to say.

I am one of those people who ware some item it is assumed high end. I don't know why. I have told people many times that I bought this at Target, or Dressbarn, you know. My local shop. They drop their mouths open, really? So I enjoy the favorable priced things and look like a million bucks. It can be done.
THAT was Chanel. She designed clothes for worker women. Clothes people could really wore. I think Karl Lagerfeld hasn't followed the style of Chanel.

I don't think he has betrayed her, I think he gave the jacket a modern spin.
The clothes are still equally gorgeous and wearable, but now each piece has more identity, say what you may but you can only have so many regular-cut Chanel jackets before getting bored with the look.
Alex G I think Karl follows Channel style a lot.And I agree that Channel even now still keeps it's identity and it's very different than the other designers' clothes. All the other designers make clothes that you cannot wear them in a daily basis when Channel has a form of simplicity and elegance that it's far beyond the others.
I've just realised: I am part of a growing number of viewers who are able to watch a video like this one without any subtitles (English or French).

I love the concepts behind the Chanel designs. Chanel design was in fashion, it is still and it will remain in fashion for some time to come. I particularly like their jackets and I have acquired similar designs for my personal collection.

Karl re invented the chanel jacket and changed chanel's style because the company was not making profit and was about to close down. The brand was hardly catching up with the newest trends and karl joined chanel and decided to do something new in order to let it come back on the right track. The brand was about to close down, and karl came and made it one of the top desired brands since the 1980s until today. So u arrogants, who obviously dont understand the real art of designing saying that karl ruined chanel, go home and get educated.

its not about his aesthetics, its his general personality that makes him unlikeable. but personally I came to not like Karl because he insisted on directing some Chanel films and they are very bland. good designer. terrible filmmaker
