Aura Rose Fitzgerald i dont think it showed that she was unoriginal but mimicked her idols and brought a light on modern women who loved. she was inspired by them, she didnt copy those exact looks but made them into her own style making them more chic and comfortable for an everyday woman instead of the elite. But i do agree with the casting everyone was casted perfectly except Coco herself, I guess no one can really portray her versatile personality perfectly. but miss knightly was also the face of chanel at the time i believe so its make sense for her to act her role
My favorite of all of Karl's short films. It truly captures an era well. Keira Knightley is a great actress so that definitely helps. I could really believe this was shot back then.
I love how Karl is able to give us a glimpse into this world as an interpretation but in a sense truthful. It helps and gives much astounding appreciation for Chanel.
I really wants those amazing hats and dresses BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely feminine and mysterious ..... so tired and bored from jeans and tshirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's very ironic...considering Mademoiselle Chanel's take on fashion was to move away from the feminine and towards easy to wear and comfortable. She'd significantly reduced the size and frill of the hat, shortened the hemline and streamlined the skirt and also started using jersey (the cloth), which was used only for men's underwear then, for women's outerwear.
Yes, but she still wanted clothing to be elegant, "luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury"; she still wanted her clients to look beautiful and put together. T-Shirts and jeans, (unless properly styled) look lazy, and rather pathetic in my opinion. But I understand where you're coming from. I believe SANA means to say, there needs to be more thought and effort put into the average person's wardrobe these days. Chanel put in the effort to make her style comfortable AND elegant, whilst too many people today do not.
+Vintage Rose Absolutely agree with you. She wanted classic and elegant clean cut lines (not the in-your-face frills and flouncy of the time) without being mundane or pedestrian. Complicated thought and yet so simple. That's why I love Chanel! She even managed to make faux fashionable and elegant! With the faux pearls and the No. 5 I mean. I apologize for rambling on, but she's my greatest inspiration...as a woman.
i have to say that Lindsey Wixson as Lady Vanderbilt was the best part of this. i keep coming back to this video cause of how memorable she was. knightly was great too.
Next time I go shopping... Store Assistant: Is that all? Me: Yes, that will do. Store Assistant: Thank you. Your total will be $34.50. Me: Well, I will send my secretary tomorrow to pick them up with a credit card.
I bet those girls who laugh at her shop and call it tacky still was doing they same little boring job while CoCo continue to get rich with new ideals everyday ...that's just it people can bring you ideals if you listen closely everything was beautiful Karl Lagerfeld was born a genius.... Lov IT.
I recall seeing a photo of "The Kaiser" in black velvet lederhosen with gold piping. RIP dearest Karl, I always wore my fan boots with reverence for your devotion to the visionary Gabrielle.Your legacy will be eternal.
It was an imagined scene of a day in the life of running her shop. The casting was brilliant - what a treat to see Stella as a client . The dialogue was difficult as its set in 1913, people spoke very differently .
The English accents were all very modern, not of the time, I think. They would have been much more refined and 'plummy' back then. But there again, they were supposed to be speaking French, so maybe it doesn't matter...
I revisited this video and this time i enjoyed it more than ever. I just opened my boutique and i relate to every single thing happened here :) cute clients, picky ones, those who like unique stuff, those rude ones, clients who bring up designer name i dislike lol, celebs passing by.... This movie is very realistic beyond what i thought when i watched it years back :) wish me luck guys.
I love the clothing from this era. It is so much more romantic than women's clothing is today. There was more magic and mystery in the clothing then, with all the lace and ruffles.
Vanderbilt had an intention to offend Chanel by sending the clothes to her secretary? sorry. I can't understand this moment of the movie. enlighten me.
I love this! No it's not the best acting or script but it gives us all a little glimpse into the world of Coco Chanel and for that I thank Karl Lagerfeld. It's easy to forget how Coco Chanel started out in light of the legacy she created.
@@iryna1722 That's not the point. The point is, people no longer try anymore. :D
The “unacceptable” frame of mind is still prevalent today. People have a hard time transitioning to changing styles, fashion and social behaviors. However, change has been and always will be the only constant.
This fairytale-like heaven can be found only in the matchlessly pretty Europe! No other Earth's mainland so sweet ,bewitchingly lovely and deeply soul-soothing as the mild ,old Europe! Coco Chanel is one of its greatest offsprings!
i never loved the sound of heels and store bells so much
Because rhey want to be practical and. But i functional. But i agree we tired already of those jeans
Davvero?.😅 Io adoravo il suono dei miei tacchi.. Sì chiama femminilità.!😊
That took me away to a beautiful place. I wish I was there. Like a beautiful dream.
La vida es un buen fin como
Deefex dB it definitely leaves one feeling nostalgic
Heaven is better🎆
Never forget chanel was a Nazi! She slept their way to the top. Her Nazi code name was wesrminter7124
Westminster 7124
I wish people really looked like that. It would make me so happy.

Ya I agree! If only people still dressed that way.. So wonderfully elegant

Too bad the part of her being a Nazi supporter and sympathizer, not to mention she hated homesexuals was left out.

Me 2 :)
Me too 😍 she is so elegents
Absolutely gorgeous
the way she plays her is so interesting and appealing, she really stands out
I wish Karl would've made a feature-length film about Coco... Such beautiful imagery! Karl was extraordinary
Me too. Especially the part where she was a huge homophobe and what he thought about that.
I love this - and would like to see this whole thing made into a longer movie! This is very inspiring!

Karl Laguerfeld is a creative genius! the film is wanderfull, like everything he does. I love his artistic talent!
So compelling. I was sorry to see this end. Beautifully done. Bless your soul Mr. Lagerfeld.
Beautifully done and written by Mr Karl Lagerfeld
Visuals are breathtaking.. I would love to see this as a show.
I love Chanel. Her story is amazing. Read several of her biographies and you'll see how she rose to the top in a man's world.
There will be no other Karl Lagerfeld.. rip legend and greatest genius in history of fashion❤❤ you will be so missed
The models awkward acting makes it realistic
Once upon a time.......Karl Lagerfeld was born and brought Chanel to this earth!

The Black Pearl reference! I love Karl's humor!

"I'LL TAKE EVERYTHING"!
I'LL SEND FOR MY SECRETARY!
"BY THE WAY!"
I AM MISS VANDERBILT!
PRICELESS!
So why if she is Miss Vanderbilt ? No hate I'm just currious
you mean Anderson coopers mother
Consuelo Vanderbilt, briefly Duchess of Marlborough.
Keira is the best actress I've ever seen. I like how she shows the emotions and how naturally she is while playing in movies. :3
I love the clothing from this era. It is so much more romantic than women's clothing is today. There was more magic and mystery in the clothing then, with all the lace and ruffles.
I love the moment when Ms. Vanderbilt turns around and says "I'll take everything. I'll send for my secretary. I am Ms. Vanderbilt, by the way"
Movzhuru Wonderbilt!!!!!
That'll funny how can you get everything not trying it. That Vanderbilt is a gold digger... That's what you can get not paying any taxes.
I don’t Understand please could you explain to the joke to me me
Yah 😍👍🏻

just as long as I'm a rich white woman.

they had more rights then
OP, i wouldnt lol
not if i want to get opressed to death and shit.
but its all cool. i like the time era, just not the ideas of the time era
Karl - you are so missed! You saw the world through your perfectionistic eyes and it was beautiful.
I love this short movie, they are so elegant.
Fashions are elegant....
I want to watch a whole 2 hour movie pleasee this is so lovely. J'adore Chanel

🤣
That's because you don't get what politeness and etiquette was back then
😂
I loved this little film. Bravo, Karl. Is there nothing this man cannot achieve?
why this beautiful world became T-shirt and jeans... so sad. it's absurd
it's not about what style you wear, but can you rise to its challenge or just be looked at strange.
