  • Bill shows you how to install a Barton Industries Short Throw Shifter with 2 Post Design Shifter Bracket on your 2011-2014 V6 and GT Mustang or 2012-2013 Boss 302 Mustang.
    Purchase Product Here:
    www.cjponypart...
    If you're looking for quicker shifts from your 2011-2014 manual transmission Mustang, then we suggest Barton Industries' Short Throw Shifter with matching 2 Post Bracket. It's built from the highest quality materials and features a 40% throw reduction, as well as a dual pivot trunnion, which allows for minimal loss of the neutral left to right throw.
    For installation, remove your original shift knob and the top plate of the center console in order to take a part your original shifter. Follow Bill's step-by-step instructions for removing this shifter, including the original shifter bracket.
    Then, install your new shifter using the original bolts and secure your new 2 Post Bracket. Lastly, return your shift boot, sound deadening, center console, and shift knob. Total installation takes up to two hours.

    Just installed this with a jack and two jack stands. The bracket is a big pain in the rear and would of rather paid $100 to get it installed professionally. For any future lurkers looking at this video wanting to do there own install and you dont have a lift hers a few tips that the video just skips right over.
    The passenger clip on the stock bracket is absolutely horrible. I found the best way to remove it is to just pull the stock bracket down and use the other side as leverage as the clip will bend to your pulling. your not getting it off with pliers and a screwdriver, your just not.
    The boot on the shifter although mentioned is also an incredible pain as well. The boot is really stiff and theirs very little room to stretch over the base. I started by dropping it on the drivers side first. then i just pulled really hard on the entire boot from the passenger side to get it over the opposite side.

    "Since its the Boss's car we want to take it easy" and just punches it ahahhahhaha had me rolling. Btw did you use lock tight on those bracket bolts? According to the MFG they recommend lock tight but I'm not sure if its necessary. Great videos BTW very good quality and good explanation.

      Jack should have spent a few less bucks on the 26 Roush decals and emblems that appear on the RS3 cars and spent the money saved on a proper shifter in the first place. IMO.

    Just be careful when tightening the main two bolts that hold the 2 post bracket to the body, as I accidentally broke one off on my new 2014 Mustang GT. I had to then drill through the sheared bolt, and I used different bolt and nut from hardware store.

    I had to laugh while I was doing this because they cut the video before they showed how much of a pain in the ass getting that retaining clip off the passenger side bolt was! Might have been easier if I had a lift. Did this on my back in the garage with jack stands at 3/4 maximum height they could go. Getting that rubber boot around the shifter base wasn't a picnic either. I got er done tho!

    The main (lower) shifter rod is utter garbage, it's just pop can aluminum. This is what broke on my 2011 GT this summer, not so great action the shit break and they want to rip you off for the one part. My homemade custom shifter won't fail like this one would.

  • @61484
    @61484 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Vibrations too?

  • @Zerogivengarage
    @Zerogivengarage 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Honestly that will depend on your dealer. Barton makes the Ford Racing shifter so Ford knows its a quality part, and it is better for the transmission, but the dealer could possibly still call it a modification and not cover the transmission if it fails. The two post bracket is easier to install and its beefier than the standard one piece.

Also, would you be able to tell me the difference between the regular barton shifter bracket, and the two post shifter bracket? Any help would be greatly appreciated. • @Zerogivengarage
    @Zerogivengarage 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    There will be a slight increase in NVH but it should be barely noticeable, sounds like the dealer did something wrong with with the install. Sounds like the 2 post bracket may not have been installed properly.

      @@Zerogivengarage Hi bill, i just got mine but mine tends to grind and there's a lot of sound coming from the shifter. I know since it has a more mechanical feel vibrations are sure to be present. although when i press the clutch when idle the grinding feel disappears. do you think it may be a gear problem instead? also when i go into first it goes into reverse although I haven't pressed down the shifter.
