    I know the video is an older one, but I must tell you now how great you are! So very British,… I JUST LOVE IT! I am so so sorry that Germans cannot buy any more from your wonderful country. I mean, we could, but the fees and taxes are just horrible. Well, I really miss the old times when I bought soo much from your country… mostly for any kind of art.
    Thanks God I can at least enjoy your videos… sending tons of love, you are just great💕and of course I can visit your wonderful country ( and then even buy something)😬

    Is it possible to make a Hot Pink underglaze? Or do you know who might make one? I once had a professor who make a hot pink sparkly one. I’m not sure what he mixed but it was wild. Should have asked him for his recipe.

    If i make an underglaze out of a clay that fires red and add pigment to it, will the clay change the colour of it? Like, if i want a yellow, will it make it all orange and shit?

    • @JaneScottCeramics

      Mmm the red iron in red clay will probs obliterate the pigment so i dont think that will work at all…

    Nice.
    What exactly is the difference between an underglaze and a glaze ?
    Do they still contain a glass that vitrifies or are they more like a stain that is overlaid with a transparent glaze?
    Although I have loads of ceramic experience it`s pretty limited to technical ceramics and refractory glazes. Steel plant workers have absolutely no finer feelings and throw my work into vats of molten metal without a second glance.
    Ironic and frustrating that lockdown has given me time to take up new interests then cruelly forbids me from taking a training course or workshop.

    • @JaneScottCeramics
      @JaneScottCeramics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Underglaze is a little bit like a glaze but with a lot more clay in it so it doesn’t melt and go all shiny... 👍🏼 vats of molten metal sound quite exciting!

    I would like to know why Jane will not let us know what this mysterious "Underglaze Medium" is. We can see the bottle and it does have some writing, but it is totally illegible due to the distance from the camera. Perhaps only an oversight, perhaps on purpose ? Why don't you want people to know what this material is, where to get it and so on.

  • @BrianMottershead

    How is your medium different from underglaze medium recipes that are already on the Internet? Where did you get your recipe from and what testing have you done?. What kind of quality controls are you using? It is all very well to complain about all the different options available on the Internet, but from the point of view of everybody else, you've just added another option to the many that are already out there. Plus, your option is a complete mystery, unreproducible except by you, and needs to be ordered and shipped.

    • @JaneScottCeramics
      @JaneScottCeramics  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Brian, good questions! Im sorry it’s taken a while to respond I have been away from the screen for a while… The pigment free underglaze medium I make and sell is different from other products you can buy readymade as it has a really good degree of opacity meaning that you dont have to use so many multiple layers to achieve an opaque colour - this saves time and product making it cheaper for you. Some recipes out there rely on the user combining a LOT of pigment into the medium to achieve a good degree of opacity and depth of colour - therefore making these products expensive on the pigment side of things. You have asked where I got my recipe from - I discovered it myself after years of experimenting with making underglaze - its all my fault 😊 Of course I want to sell my product, you are right about me wanting you to order it and spend money, my guess is if you try it you will be pleased with the product and its my intention to save you money and provide you with a better product than those already available (of which there aren’t that many incidentally…) Are you in the UK? Can i send you a small sample to try? Let me know. 👍🏼 Happy Potting!

    Hi! Just found your channel. A question, If you don't add transparent glaze over the top, can you still eat and drink out of it if it's fired at a cone 6 or 10? Or is that a no no because it will be too porous? I"m American so not sure if we use the same scale.. I'm new to glaze and firing language. Looking forward to being able to purchase from you online : )

    • @JaneScottCeramics
      @JaneScottCeramics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well now.... if you don’t glaze over the top then it wont be shiny and it would still be porous - not impossible to eat and drink from but difficult to keep super hygienic and clean and it would feel weird - sort of matt and rough... try it and see for yourself... 😁🌈
