Andrew Goldstein they weren't even doing a plank the whole time therefore they didn't complete it. I'm not saying I can, I can barely hold it perfectly for 2 minutes, but I'm still young and have time to develop.
The girls weren't struggling, because their asses were either up or down. The big guy was having a hard time, considering he was performing an almost perfect plank.
yea also that plank ty[e is really easy u should see waht they do to the SAS the hardest and best special force. Do researhc it is, its really hard to get in.
Christian Sells Part of it has to do with center of gravity too. Men are more too heavy and balance in the chest area, so more weight is on their arms proportionally. Women carry more weigh in their hips so they share more strain with their legs
The point was not to do a plank, just to get them so physically uncomfortable that no amount of prior physical condition was going to help them avoid falling back on their mental skills. That's what they're doing right, teaching mental strength?
AuricMonkey I don't think anyone could say it better. No one is strong enough to do a 45 minute plank with good form the whole time. The point is it takes an incredible amount of mental strength to even get close. That's what they're forcing you to use.
I wonder how long they would last if they were flexing/squeezing their abs the entire time. I don't mean to doubt or discredit their effort because right now I would probably struggle holding a 6 minute plank let alone 45, but I know when I do a plank I try to contract all my musclues; quads, glutes, abs, obliques, pecs, etc. so I wonder how long they'd last doing it that way.
Conor if your form is good 6 is very impressive. I can hit just about that with a little bit of bad form in the middle. No one's gonna be contracting their muscles for 45 minutes.
TheMacocko That doesn't make any sense: First: How would you get in her? That's physically impossible. Second: Even if you some how got into her, Wouldn't she go back to her regular weight after you came out of her? Think before you post something on the internet next time.
Ayesha Irfan those of us who can do it for longer periods of time know that it isn't boring, because of how much pain and difficulty and discomfort one has to go through just to hold it. Assuming you have proper form of course
They all dropped at least a few times, but that's the thing. Yea some did better than others, but it's not about perfection, it's about teaching you to keep going even when you fall. Can you keep going through the strain and muscular pain over and over again until you've reached the end?
So strong every one! Bravoo! Can I join you on next one? High planks are my favourite. Good for the body, good for the mind. All it takes it's to build up that body mind endurance. Love it!
Did a 12 minute plank the other day. Holy cow! The fact that everyone in the group completed this shows a lot about the power of the mind and group encouragement. Update: I've since done a 25 minute plank so still super impressed these guys were able to bite off a 45 minute one first try. Meditating a lot on the value of encouragement and team efforts.
The different between this plank with elbow plank is just a variation...let me give you an example to understand... 100m sprinter and 1600m long distance run. Both are running exercise but different way and how u manage it.
@John paul-Planking is with forearms down, the position is the top of a pushup. Seen any SEAL videos and they do more pushups and situps and legwork than anything else.
Love that in the Sealfit logo, the weight, it has something with 3 points, like the devils stick, and it's the logo for the swedish equivlent of the british SAS Kustjägare (Coastal Rangers), a Kustjägare that is also a Attackdykare (Attack diver) is basicly a navy SEAL. PS, there was also a competition between kustjägare and the navy seals, the kustjägare won because a seal broke his leg.
So many people talking, criticizing and critiquing. wonder how many have taken the time to try it, even for a short period. Experience the mental and physical benefits
Anyone giving the spiteful thumbs down or nitpicking the level of quality of the planks is missing the point by a spectacular distance. This challenge is about fighting through fatigue and the desire to quit. I don't care how bad their planks were, every one of those people had to fight through those minutes. You need to think bigger than technique and more about purpose.
The women's class at the County Jail in Las Vegas, just watched this as part of their Unbeatable Mind training in order to help them get onto the path of a purposeful and meaningful life.
Bud/s or any NSW program is more about muscular endurance than anything else. i.e. your likely to do 25 sets of 3 pull ups as opposed to 2 sets of 35 pull-ups...20 sets of 20 pushups as opposed to one set of 100 push ups
I would like to see the entire 45 minute unedited video running alongside the edited video. I have a hard time believing anyone held even a very poor form plank for more than 10 minutes, let alone for 45. 4-5 minutes, maybe, but 45, prove me wrong. I'll give props where props are due and will happily write, "I was wrong."
No, this is not a part of BUD/s. Its a weekend academy run by former Navy SEALs to teach Mental Toughness, Emotional Resiliency, and fitness for civilians. We do get attendees that aspire to become Navy SEALs or other types of special forces.
In today's TH-cam comments, a bunch of people who make fun of those who decide to challenge themselves. "Oh, that's not a real plank!" "Oh, that's edited!" Yeah, thanks, all. You're all very smart people and everyone on the internet thinks a great deal of you.
Julie Priest wow I don't know why you said that to me, I was agreeing with you saying all these people that troll and make nasty comments couldn't do it. My crossfit coach went to sealfit and said it was brutal.
Julie Priest I get where you're coming from, but it isn't a real plank. Thus, the title is false adverising. If the title was, "SEALFit Academy - 45 Minute Sloppy Pushup Position Hold," I can guarantee you it wouldn't be getting anywhere near as much flak.
These individuals have decided to take on something bigger than themselves. To protect and serve our great nation, The United States Of America. And all most of you can do is criticize them. They are knee deep in probably 10 times the amount any of us in this comment section will ever acomplish.Or attempt to accomplish. I mean come on, we're literally in a TH-cam comment section. Have some respect for the real deal, people.
I dont mean to brag, but im in good shape, i do Calisthenics, Parkour, Freerunning, and Rock Climbing, as well as competing as a Gymnast for 8 years, and i can only hold a plank for like 10 minutes. There are like old ladies doing this. Theres no way.
22m10s with 20m break onto 1000 push-ups o.O glad I did the plank 1st haven't worked out in o er a year..... HarD™KohR HooRaH!!! Feel Good Lookin Good Damnit Man!!!
Yes, this is just what the country needs, a bunch of already stressed Americans being belittled by a SEAL trainer. Harnessing anger and frustration all the time is not the right mentality to being fit enough to live better. Americans have become too angry at everything. Leave military training to service members where it belongs...
I hate it when people don't fucking do it right and they think they're good at this shit, while those who do it right have a hard time because they're DOING IT RIGHT DAMNIT
This training was more than likely for breathing and building up that confidence. To everyone complaining why some people in the comments are hard on 99% of the people doing the damn planks. Why? They're there to tryout to be seals, and to grow, but if they take shortcuts and cheat, and then they slack off and that attitude goes with them when they take the actual thing. Would that be good? No. But keep in mind, training the mind and then the body. I'd rather see someone build up from a proper plant that lasts a minute and gradually increase it over time. They were able to rest so in actuality, the hold would be around 35-40 minutes. But either way, I still find it impressive that they were able to sit there, perfect plank or not, for 45 minutes, I'd probably end up thinking of random things in my head. Props to that 1 old guy that shook a crap ton. Man must have been sore the day after.
Appreciate your input OreaThePanda. Just so you know these are actually civilians, but some in this video did go on to become Navy SEALs. SEALFIT gives people an opportunity to experience to a degree what SEAL training is like.
SEALFIT I can see that, goodluck to them and the ones aspiring to be seals in the futute, I wanted to be one, Sadly my eye condition prevents me of being able to join any branch.
News flash - these aren't planks. Planks are done on your elbows, not hands. This is just the weekend warrior version that impresses people who don't know any better. The boredom would get me before the physical discomfort.
Hey R Jay. We have had a lot of discussion on the term plank. If you have any interest in hearing Mark's thought on the matter you should check out his response video here: th-cam.com/video/YN05VKEG6hM/w-d-xo.html
1. not a plank. 2. its not a 45 minute 'push up stance' hold if you take breaks. 3. I'm willing to bet a lot of money the shut the cameras off and let them rest.
that older man with the large triceps shaking impressed me the most. Never broke position, didnt look like it at least.
Roman Hamm i think he moved like twice but thats still super impressive
Actual Herpes big deal ya nitpick
His triceps do look spectacular.
He is reptilian lizard part of illuminati
Dudes butt was quivering like he was having some flashbacks. Lol
There was only one guy doing it correct...The guy who was shaking all over...he wasnt sagging at all
+gerzy100 He was the oldest guy as well.
There's always that one guy who goes to these types of videos and calls people out instead of experiencing it himself. Sad!
Wrong dude. They were all doing it correctly. The task was showing up and completing it, not adhering to a particular form. That's the point.
Andrew Goldstein they weren't even doing a plank the whole time therefore they didn't complete it. I'm not saying I can, I can barely hold it perfectly for 2 minutes, but I'm still young and have time to develop.
doing that shit the wrong way for 45 minutes is an accomplishment in and of itself
Just did 15 seconds and hit the showers, called it a day.
janzbot71 LMAO
janzbot71 lololol
janzbot71 lmao
janzbot71 hoo ya brother
I'm proud of you
The girls weren't struggling, because their asses were either up or down.
Jumpin_armour-dillo is it hard tho? Please do tell me how hard it is. Is it stiff competition? Do you have to be hard as a rock to get in?
Yaas
Christian Sells True asf
The point was not to do a plank, just to get them so physically uncomfortable that no amount of prior physical condition was going to help them avoid falling back on their mental skills. That's what they're doing right, teaching mental strength?

Thomas Spiker what that is untrue.
AuricMonkey exactly. Mind over matter.
Thomas Spiker r
Oops sorry I didn’t mean to do that
Some of those people were doing 45 minutes of either cobra pose or downward dog
Still better than giving up.
Wrong. th-cam.com/video/4YKmR5K6Qrc/w-d-xo.html
that one girl out did them all wtf shes beast
45 minute cobra stretch
spot on. guy in the middle with greying hair - proper plank and shaking. second woman in, sagging and resting on her bones.
True
It's not about the muscle at this level. It's more about the mind
Bruh... "old, saggy women" old yes, but did you see them triceps?
Conor probably at most 15 minutes, but that's not the point...
Conor if your form is good 6 is very impressive. I can hit just about that with a little bit of bad form in the middle. No one's gonna be contracting their muscles for 45 minutes.
Mark Divine is a great trainer who knows what he's about. One of the few SEALS that didn't get fat 5 minutes after getting out.
Umabari Probaly really easy to get fat afterwards. You will probally decrease your calories a shit ton afterwards.
TheMacocko That doesn't make any sense: First: How would you get in her? That's physically impossible. Second: Even if you some how got into her, Wouldn't she go back to her regular weight after you came out of her? Think before you post something on the internet next time.
Bboybolt Seriously? Think about out it, bro.
Bboybolt he meant with his dick bro
Hondo I know, I was just trying to be a smartass for no reason.
More of a test of sheer willpower than actual strength. Obviously still incredibly important for SEALS
That's a push-up hold, not a plank
AS Garvin You're a genius.
+Brendan Tomlinson lol
AS Garvin There's different types of planks.
AS Garvin But yes, even I call it a push up hold.
AS Garvin that is a plank, bud
more than the physical discomfort, I am put off by the sheer boredom one would have to go through while doing this.
Ayesha Irfan I could see myself putting my phone underneath my face and watching a short movie
nah, the pain would keep your mind preoccupied
The boredom makes it go faster
omg righttt??? I get so bored with workouts like that so I prefer dance workouts
Ayesha Irfan those of us who can do it for longer periods of time know that it isn't boring, because of how much pain and difficulty and discomfort one has to go through just to hold it. Assuming you have proper form of course
Just few days ago i did 15 seconds of plank MAX
and now im proud to say that i do 95 seconds of plank easily
WHAT I can barely hold for two minutes without breaking perfect position! That one guy did it completely perfect!
The utmost respect to all who endure the challenge. 💪🏼🇺🇸
They all dropped at least a few times, but that's the thing. Yea some did better than others, but it's not about perfection, it's about teaching you to keep going even when you fall. Can you keep going through the strain and muscular pain over and over again until you've reached the end?
I definitely want to go to one of the camps, either the 3 week or 1 week. What a great lesson in mental fortitude.
haa i did 5
got 40 more to go.
This is one of those great exercises that show people what a waste all that extra upper body weight/muscle does for you.
High-plank hold. Still a plank. Except the occasional upward and downward dogs.
Occasional?
So strong every one! Bravoo! Can I join you on next one? High planks are my favourite. Good for the body, good for the mind. All it takes it's to build up that body mind endurance. Love it!
For planks to affect the core the butt needs to be level with a straight back - the guy who was shaking was doing it right.
Yeah exactly the point, without elbow is extremely easy, just like 1600 m run is way easier than 100 m sprint
My goodness that dude's triceps are insane
i thought planking was with forearms down... this is just push up position without doing any push ups
john paul in yoga this is called plank position.
john paul this is a military plank
Both are hard(pause) when doing it for a long time
@John paul-Planking is with forearms down, the position is the top of a pushup. Seen any SEAL videos and they do more pushups and situps and legwork than anything else.
High plank
Had to do a 20 minute plank(bows and toes) as a pledge, that was hell, had to do it on our elbows many times
Info on this competition?
Do the Swedes allow members of the Coastal Rangers to have asthma medication?
How long is Swedish citizenship take?
Yeah right 45 min plank.
cogl iostro you think this was faked?
Well I mean, holding it for 45 minutes is probably impossible. They probably had 3-5 short breaks
World record for longest plank is 8 hours+
Moba Legends Maybe Goku.
Matt Black it was a Chinese police officer called Mao Weidong
So many people talking, criticizing and critiquing. wonder how many have taken the time to try it, even for a short period. Experience the mental and physical benefits
Damn. This actually motivated me to get up and finally get some chips
0:29 Woman had a fucking banana..
Justin Clark good food
She brought breakfast with her.
that banana made her strong!
Anyone giving the spiteful thumbs down or nitpicking the level of quality of the planks is missing the point by a spectacular distance. This challenge is about fighting through fatigue and the desire to quit. I don't care how bad their planks were, every one of those people had to fight through those minutes. You need to think bigger than technique and more about purpose.
.. and yet none failed to do what was expected of them. I would have folded like a cheap card table after five minutes. The guy is a good Zen master.
The heck. 4 minutes already kill me and I had to distract myself after the third. Is it easier on you palms than forearms?
How can I join this camp ? I'm super interested !!!!
Am laying down on the ground watching this and contemplating life rn......
In the Army this position is called, the front lean rest position. This is the start position of a push up, not a plank.
Should try the royal marine commandos plank, 45 minutes at the bottom of a press-up position! Brutal
This is a plank???
In the U.K. We have to do it on our radius and ulnas (elbow) which people can only usually hold for 5-10 minutes
I'm not in the military yet, but I still cringed watching those civilians yell out the motivational cadences
You're also a civilian.
nuf said
I love the guy at 4:24; it just seems to come out of nowhere when he says that, haha.
Yeah stop using the word cringe. Why do so many people use it now.
kyle trend?lol
The women's class at the County Jail in Las Vegas, just watched this as part of their Unbeatable Mind training in order to help them get onto the path of a purposeful and meaningful life.
Edward Bevilacqua lmao why this shits a joke
Bud/s or any NSW program is more about muscular endurance than anything else. i.e. your likely to do 25 sets of 3 pull ups as opposed to 2 sets of 35 pull-ups...20 sets of 20 pushups as opposed to one set of 100 push ups
Watch a seal fit video every day take action do the drills . action beat resistance!💪🇺🇸🗽👍 one nation
I really want to join the seals any body know How in can do that. Please help inform
Did these people go thru health screening before doing this?
Another lifesaving excersice...
Can they legally refer to their program as "SEAL" training?
Probably, but as they don't call it that it's not an issue
Think I'll give it a shot tomorrow
aren't planks done on the elbow not on the palm ?
I don't know why everybody's giving them shit, do a 45 minute plank and tell me if you don't put your butt up in the air
Starting my 21min plank then on to 1000 push-ups 20x HooYaH!!!
3:09 GOOTTTTTTDAMMM DAT AZZZ
its been 3 years, I hope you got the help you needed :)
I did a proper 4 minute plank today and I am dead rn
I can't do 15 seconds I swear I'm not even joking
Bradley Martyn hey what are you doing here?
Bradley Martyn Cuz you're to small bro, you should take workout tips from Dom
Bradley Martyn That's cause you don't do collab with Genova
You guys know this is a fake account right
These men and women were tough. I can't even hold pass 5 minutes.
Isnt a plank position elbows on the ground? This is a pushup position.
That guy with "Ebbs" on his shirt didn't even break a sweat, what a beast!
Open ranks... March!
Half right... face!
Front leaning rest position... move!
At first a saw this, read it wrong, thought it said 45 seconds, thought to myself "well that's easy" then saw it said minutes "ah"
@SEALFIT WHERE IS THIS SCHOOL
Marine Fit RobShamstin San Diego
Peter Sodhi. thanks can I get a website to possibly apply
From what we saw, they all did it right. But that wasn't the plank. That was holding the pressup position
So what is the purpose of doing planks???
I was shaking just watching this
I would like to see the entire 45 minute unedited video running alongside the edited video. I have a hard time believing anyone held even a very poor form plank for more than 10 minutes, let alone for 45. 4-5 minutes, maybe, but 45, prove me wrong. SEALFIT ahh many thanks
Hey but isnt plank like different?
Isnt a plank supose to be so ur on ur arms not ur hands?
How old do you have to be to do this
Awesome work Mark. Nice gut check
im probably really good at this particular hold cause when i got into trouble as a kid my dad would make me do this
title should go like this "1.5 minute of plank and 43.5 minutes of twerking"
I have a 6 pack, and 5 minutes is fucking hell...
Every single body has incredible arms
That's odd...I thought planks were on your forearms..not on your hands.
If anything, that's just locking a pushup at the top.
I just did 5 min of a low plank. Ive heard about this before, and I thought it was a low plank, thank god high planks are like five times easier
In today's TH-cam comments, a bunch of people who make fun of those who decide to challenge themselves. "Oh, that's not a real plank!" "Oh, that's edited!" Yeah, thanks, all. You're all very smart people and everyone on the internet thinks a great deal of you.

Julie Priest id love to see your lazy ass do a real plank

I did planks while watching this video lol
I know the older guy never broke form but the ones stretching are still engaging their bodies and they're using less energy
good lord i cant even get in the position before i pass out from the doritos i just killed
22m10s with 20m break onto 1000 push-ups o.O glad I did the plank 1st haven't worked out in o er a year..... HarD™KohR HooRaH!!! Feel Good Lookin Good Damnit Man!!!

I actually thought they were doing a 45 minute plank
im pretty sure a plank is supposed to be on your elbows
Is nobody going to talk about the fact that the coach looks like Gordon ramsay?
Why 45 people can hardly do it up to 40seconds
This training was more than likely for breathing and building up that confidence.
To everyone complaining why some people in the comments are hard on 99% of the people doing the damn planks. Why? They're there to tryout to be seals, and to grow, but if they take shortcuts and cheat, and then they slack off and that attitude goes with them when they take the actual thing. Would that be good? Nothing but respect for them ❤️
a 45 min plank hold helps in developing the same muscles need to stop your body from shivering in extreme cold environs extending your survivability.
Seriously I can't even handle 30 seconds plank... ,😂
Do you know how hard this is.
1. not a plank. 2. its not a 45 minute 'push up stance' hold if you take breaks. 3. I'm willing to bet a lot of money the shut the cameras off and let them rest.
Literally one guy had good form. It's not as revolutionary when their hips are either on the ground or to the sky
