Leeds United's plans to expand Elland Road to 55,000 seat stadium!

- Premier League football at Elland Road means Leeds United's owners can push on with plans to expand the stadium.
The famous ground in Beeston holds 38,000 people as it stands and that capacity will increase to 55,000 if there are no planning hiccups.
Leeds City Council has already shown its support for the stadium transformation, which will see eventually see changes to all four stands.
The project will see Elland Road become one of the largest grounds in the country! #Shorts
Needs to be at least 60,000 to give people any chance of getting tickets for games.

Me personally I don't think it will happen because of the board holding back on lots of things and not informing the fans of leeds of what's going off in the background. Plus the person in charge of leeds is wanting more money than the leeds united club is worth. But there is a lot of leeds fans waiting at least 60.000 capacity and it definitely will get filled up. But a lot of questions are still being asked on what's happening.
Badly needed. Members can barely get tickets - the land behind the West Stand is abandoned waste land so go big! North Stand should be easy to expand but South will be difficult because of Elland Road. Hopefully this time the owners and Council will make good on these promises

The council must know how important the club is to the city by now, wherever I go, be it Beijing, Germany, Saudi Arabia, when people ask where I’m from I say Leeds (as it’s the nearest large city to my tiny town) and their first reaction is to ask about Leeds United. Because of Bielsa and Raphinha most of South America know full well who we are. It’s a huge cultural marker for this area of the country.
My idea for the South Stand would be to redirect traffic going down Elland Road and get them to maybe go round by the Ice Hockey, West stand and Revie stand instead. Joining Lowfields road or directing on and off to the M621?
This then would leave the South stand to be expanded back into a fan zone including Billy's bar, the shops opposite, the Peacock and the corner where the shop and Billy's statue is.
Of course road planning permission along with a foolproof design would have to work. Also the access for people who live in the houses opposite and maybe deliveries.
Be great to see some Safe Standing at ER. Hope it is included in the Expansion.

About time, got to be 60, 000 though.
If the owners really want to make a statement about the ground why not turn the pitch 90 degrees. Pull the West Stand down and move it back further West. The build could be done without impacting capacity as it would be behind the current stand. Then build a new stand behind the North Stand on what is Bobby Collins Way. Again no need to impact current capacity while the build takes place. When these two new stands are in place pull down both the West and North stands and move the pitch slightly north and rotate it 90 degrees. Once this is done the capacity will have been increased to allow the South stand to be demolished. When rebuilding the South stand it could then be expanded on to what is currently the goal mouth negating the problems of building close to Elland Road itself (as a bonus the stand would then cover the spot of ground that was cursed, that Don Revie had exorcized). When this was done the East stand could be rebuilt or expanded if it was felt necessary.
Interesting! Definitely views to put forward when the consultation starts with fans! The concern will always be not compromising on the atmosphere and feel of Elland Road as it has been for many decades…
might be time better spent on cobbling together a team that can survive in the championship.

To be honest we could build a 100,000 seater stadium &there'd still be loyal leeds fans unable to get tickets MOT
Thing is if there are 20.000 waiting for season tickets then expanding by 17.000 isn't nearly enough. We've always had a huge following but now we're backwhere we belong the que gets longer. I'd say leave 3.000 each match day for other fans to come as we can't all afford season tickets or we prioritise family so can't spend it all on football
They got a go ahead here for a number months so ideally they should start now. The longer we go with the current capacity the longer logo without the extra money. Works need to start now.

If that’s the case they better do everything in their power to guarantee staying up which is adding a ST and LB. Without them they likely still stay up but why make it too close to call?
Any expansion behind the goal ( Gelderd End/Revie/North ) should be one single tier not a top tier overlapping a bottom one as that arrangement is an atmosphere killer

I've had in season ticket for like five years now ever since Redrazzani Took full ownership of the club and the atmosphere has always been great and I can't wait to see the "white wall" up north

A one club city maybe but the Leeds public need to get behind the club. Leeds can’t keep relying on the massive influx of fans from Lancashire as the m62 is at breaking point on match days.

I'm a Leeds fan from northern Ireland and in my opinion upgrading to 55,000,60,000 is pointless as no way will you fill it,and these fans moaning about tkts obviously aren't trying hard enough MOT.
Sell Elland road.... blasphemy I know! That land is valuable, and would substantially contribute to a new stadium, Ideally east of Garforth near M1 and A1 intersections.
Access to West Leeds and Central Leeds is ridiculous on match days, we'd get a modern stadium 65000 with easy access via motorways to and from the ground.

Go big on the west stand then extend south stand by turning the road into a tunnel below the new stand knock down the peacock and call the new stand the peacock stand with an inbuilt new peacock open even when no games are on

It's ok, we won't need the extra seats when we're back in the EPL cos the plastics will stop coming and those of us who have been coming for decades will be able to get a ticket again.

There's normally 1000s milling outside ER on matchdays.... Ones that can't get tickets. Exactly same for away days. Wed take 20000 for every away day if we had the allocation. No one near us for numbers.
