Necron tech relies on a positively charged alternate dimension which is like the Warp but opposite. Positronic brains go back to Asimov & 40k takes inspiration from many sources including classic Sci-FI. That explains why Necron bodies are resistant to the Warp and why machines are more vulnerable than ordinary matter. This dimension is more stable than the Warp because most living things don't interact with it and that's why beings connected to it are invisible to psykers.

Despite looking like frail old men, many of them could likely rip a space marine's heart out through their chestplate if they were unfortunate to get close enough. This isn't mentioning how a lot of them have not just one but multiple different shielding devices all on at the same time. The only way something could kill a Magos is either through vastly stronger fire-power, numbers, or surprise. Or a small degree of the mix of all three of those. But if any attempt lacked any of the mentioned (without having another in abundance), it'd be like trying to knock a house down with a rubber mallet.

That field allows it to cut through armor with ease) the servo-skull that's attached to him, can act as a combat assist, meaning he got a aimbot protecting him if needed. most of his body is mechanic it looks weak but they are extremely strong, even that smaller claw in front of him can kill. another cool thing, they find humans to be slow even space marines, they don't speak with flesh voice cords, only when talking to imperium members that are not part of the Adeptus Mechanicus, for them needing to speak with human voice is like how the hobbits in lord of the rings felt when the ents (the large tree people) used hours just to say hello, they find it extremely time wasteful.
