    What no one clearly explains is as follows - I run and have run my own small business for 25 years and I import products from various countires. I PAY 7.5% tariff on imports from China - China does not pay anything. I must add this on to the cost of my products, increasing prices to my customers. It is inflationary and it hurts business. No country simply accepts tariffs - they apply their own tariffs. What happened with Trump's tariffs was a large chunk of funds raised through tariffs went to subsidize farmers who suffered by being tariffed by other countries and lost business. Unfortunately, Trump does not fully grasp the concept of tariffs.

      Exactly! Well stated! It was easy to understand, directly to the point, and with real life example. A 10yo would be able to understand this. Those in support of Trump tariffs are not affected, benefit, or have the mental acuity less than a 10yo. Unfortunately, the majority fall into the latter.

      He owns a business (his hotels and golf courses) that sells clothing and little tchotchkes with the Trump name on them, mostly made in China. So either he knows how this works and is lying that he really thinks that the exporter pays tariffs, or he doesn’t bother understanding the details and thus isn’t terribly good at understanding his own businesses.

      Must you display your ignorance so openly? Trump has said his goal is to get to zero tariffs, on all sides. However, tariffs are needed, on a temporary basis, to have leverage to force China to reduce its tariffs on U.S. products and stop its unfair, predatory trade practices. Trump's goal is fair, level, "reciprocal trade." To offset the tariffs, Trump will lower taxes on U.S. manufacturers and American taxpayers. Kamala Harris wants to raise taxes on U.S. companies, which will drive up consumer prices, but won't do anything to address and stop China's unfair, predatory, trade practices and tariffs on U.S. products. Import tariffs are a much better way.

Without exception, they've resulted in trade wars, and in a number of occasions physical wars. Krogers already confessed to price gouging because they wanted a better price on their merger with another large supermarket.(Lina Kahn blocked this merger saying it narrowed the market too close to a monopoly and allowed them to give consumers no choice when they raised prices) Corporations want Trump to win because 1) they want the tax cuts they got under him to remain if not increase, 2) the beef and poultry processors don't want the food regulations that were rolled back reimplemented, even though just recently people have died because of their lowering standards 3) they don't like the Lina Khan being head of the FTC because she's calling them out on price fixing (RealPage with rents, Krogers on groceries), unfair fees and making it nearly impossible to cancel subscriptions. In other words, rip us off every which way to Sunday. So if corporations /businesses can make you complain about about prices and blame the CURRENT administration, that's what they'll do.

      Trading on a demo account can definitely feel similar to the real market, but there are some differences. It's important to remember that trading involves risks and it's normal to face looses sometimes. One piece of advice is to start small and gradually increase your investments as you gain more experience and confidence. It might also be helpful to seek guidance from experienced traders or do some research on different trading strategies

    Tariffs - the importer of record pays the tariff. Let's talk 232 Tariffs on Aluminum. (specifically aluminum from China). Before the 232 Tariffs a 12 pack of 12 oz AL cans of soda cost on average $4.99. The 25% 232 aluminum tariffs had directly impacted the price of the 12 packs, which average $8 to $9.00 now. Meanwhile 20 oz plastic bottles (6 packs) are averaging $5.99 and generally on sale between $3.99 and $4.99. There is no tariff on plastics. So 144 oz of soda in aluminum is double the cost of 120 oz of soda in plastic. Tariffs...

  • @cgamiga
    @cgamiga หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    It's so ridiculously simple: the point of tariffs, is.. MAKE IMPORTS MORE EXPENSIVE to consumer. That makes them less desirable (lower demand), protecting domestic products (with likely higher prices otherwise) more competitive as imports are no longer cheaper, etc. That is.. inflationary. Higher price of imports ARE THE ENTIRE POINT. It's not just to collect money for the govt.
    As Mark Cuban points out succinctly, specific targeted tariffs can make sense to protect some domestic producers/products, from unfairly cheaper imports (dumping or foreign govt subsidies), or to protect domestic industry temporarily until it can catch up costs/scale and then compete more evenly w/ foreign imports (eg Chinese EVs?)..
    but tariffs on an entire *country*, are just... punitive and inflationary. It is economic warfare on that country, and ... likely blocked by the WTO and other intl fair trade orgs.

    The reason why tariffs hurt the consumer is because we have no domestic manufacturing. If you want food, and food is only made in china, a tax on the import makes food more expensive.
    However, the demand for food will never go down because it is required to sustain life, this promotes domestic production of food at a high yet more reasonable price for consumers, soon farms stop popping up to address the need for cheaper food.
    In the short term, tariffs will hurt the consumer. Long term the goal is to promote domestic production of whatever goods you have been relying on to come from foreign countries, which will eventually be cheaper than the foreign alternative. I dont care what your politics are. We cant allow everything to be imported guys, the world will have us in an economic chokehold in the same way we have the world in a military chokehold. Everyone buys weapons from us for a reason because we have a monopoly on the best weapons.
