I think racism lands differently for me. I hear Maher saying "I didn't do it, but I benefited from it". I grew up in a racist environment and was taught racist and classist things as a child (examples: certain neigborhoods being inherently dangerous, assumptions about people's intelligence and ability, etc). While I didn't say or do overtly racist things, I benefited from racism, and I believed what I was told at the time. As an adult, knowing this about my past, I have a responsibility to unlearn the racist crap as it comes up. I'm in my late 50s, and while I've deprogrammed myself quite a bit, I assume that I will continue to need to unlearn racist assumptions and tropes for the rest of my life. I don't feel bad about myself as a human being because of what I had to unlearn, but I do feel an ongoing responsibility to continue to deprogram myself.

Just what we need, a president who is a terrible judge of character. But it was these people that kept the Donald in check just long enough to get him to the end of the presidency, when he incited the insurrection. He won't have those people this time. Dems need to get away from Identity politics when is a loser everywhere in the nation, like 85% of Americans are against the idea of a man transitioning after puberty and competing in woman's sports. I know it only affects 1 in ever 100,000 people or so but the Dems kept on taking the bate every time the Republicans put it out there, so the public kept on thinking its a bigger deal than it was, because if they didn't answer the LGBT community might feel betrayed.

Both presenters are well respected HOWEVER the claim of a biblical and or Koran authority for Israel having a claim to the Palestunian land going back thousands of years is a false flag. If the post WWI and WWII powers (allies), had not split the booty from the conquered Ottoman empire, and given the property to Israel, the current war and its resulting genocide would likely NOT be happening. The League of Nations and the current United Nation was also responsible for rubber stamping the theft of the land from the Palestinian people in 1948. Thats a long time for hate to fester. The fact that there was a historical record of Jews living in the occupied territory before 1948 does not in and of itself justify the existence of the Jewish/Israeli state. Wrong is wrong but France, Great Britain and the US will never admit to their complicit role of colonialism on behalf of Zionism in the post war years.. No one among these allied countries has ever or will ever step forward and say we were wrong!. While the Oct. 7 massacre was indeed tragic, all those innocents killed were a result of how Israel's brutal mistreatment of the people in Gaza, supported by the US, almost was inevitable after being tolerated for decades. They thought the dog was beaten into submission. The dog finally bit and unfortunately will morph into terrorism for decades.

But then that tribe probably took it from some other Indian tribe before that, leading to my reason for not really caring about who used to live somewhere, it’s a useless concept.
What they should concentrate on doing is solving the problem today and that’s not picking a date when everybody was where they were supposed to be and making people move because of course we’d have to fight over what date that is. I remember how full of himself Maher was, and then the deer in the headlights panic when he got backlash over this little episode just SIX DAYS after 2977 people were killed on 9/11:
In the aftermath of the attacks, U.S. President George W. Bush said that the terrorists responsible were cowards. During the September 17, 2001 episode, one of Maher's guests, Dinesh D'Souza, said "These are warriors. And we have to realize that the principles of our way of life are in conflict with people in the world. And so - I mean, I'm all for understanding the sociological causes of this, but we should not blame the victim. Americans shouldn't blame themselves because other people want to bomb them." Maher agreed, and replied: "We have been the cowards, lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, [it's] not cowardly." Similar comments were made by others in other media.
Advertisers withdrew their support, and some ABC affiliates stopped airing the show temporarily. White House press secretary Ari Fleischer denounced Maher, warning that "people have to watch what they say and watch what they do." Maher apologized, and explained that he had been criticizing U.S. military policy, not American soldiers. The show was canceled the following June, which Maher and many others saw as a result of the controversy.

Maher talks about extremes, the says there's "reasonable solutions" for most problems. He says he's an "old-school Liberal." But he usually focuses on social issues. Liberalism has failed to address issues where "extreme" action is needed: campaign finance reform, climate change, tax policy, trade, health care. Liberals wonder why a guy like Trump is competitive. *Here's why: People want real economic Progressivism, and Democratic Party Liberals don't get it done.*
