Willie it’s impossible to improve on the original, this does the original full justice. Splendid rendition. It gave me chills. Steve’s rendition of the masterpiece Blackmore solo captured the original with all of the right notes yet made it his while keeping the original greatness intact.
Steve is the only one to approach Ritchie’s solo and even when I saw Purple on the first two reunion tours in 84 and 85 I believe I never heard Gillan approach Glenn’s vocals here❤️
Chickenfoot have a very good version, but this is best version ever...period Glenn´s overwhelming voice, and spectacular solos by Lachy Doley and Vai are killing any doubt here...
For me both Chickenfoot and this one are pretty equal. Both are on the Re- Machined C.D. Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are equal in talent and style. Same with Hagar and Hughes.
The Re- Machined C.D. is tremendous, except the Flaming Lips doing Smoke on the Water. All the artists from Santana to Glenn Hughes to Satriani and Steve Vai are kicking ass.
The original trax was one my fav's from DP but this rendition is something special. I have both of my all time heroes on this trax Vai is a friggin beast on Guitar and Glenn's Vocals are on another planet! What range, power and control he sings with so much emotion they hit it out of the Park💯
