    We love a good shop furniture build! We’ve been meaning to revisit our CNC table for a long time because the first one we built in a rush was so rickety. While we made it sturdy with new hardware, we added some much needed additional storage and organization too (pegboard and extra shelves). It is SO much more sturdy now, which one would hope since we run our X-Carve on it, and the bonus storage helped us use the space so much more efficiently. Kinda feel like we have twice as much storage as before… because we do!

    Fancy. I like how much more stable it is. I still haven't finished my CNC table. It's usable, like your old one, but not what I had intended. The biggest thing that kept me from finishing what was going to be an enclosure is the fact that the Suck It dust boot worked so well. The down side is the enclosure was part of the shoring up the integrity of the framing. I may need to pick up some of this hardware to make it sturdy while I reevaluate the design. McCarty. That's my entry.

    • @EvanAndKatelyn
      @EvanAndKatelyn  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The dust boot is awesome! Yeah we had originally considered an enclosure too (hence the 4 posts) but just didn't need it. I like McCarty!

    Looks good guys. I will say I learned pretty quick that open storage isn't the best in a shop. I don't have the dust boot like you do on the CNC, but my X-Carve got sawdust in those little storage bins pretty fast. I ended up covering them and it was all ok. I also took the time to 3D print some custom pegboard holders for certain tools.

    • @EvanAndKatelyn
      @EvanAndKatelyn  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dust boot helps a ton, we definitely recommend it! Good thinking on 3D printing custom pegboard holders

    I absolutely understand you're doing a build to show off cool hardware brackets but I think driving a couple lag bolts through the ends of the square decks to tie them together and then doing the same for the legs would make the table a lot more sturdy. Heck even deck screws would be better than nothing. I think the more attached all the pieces are to one another, the better. Good show and a nice build.

    Nice build, I have a machine due in 2 weeks. I’m planning on building one out steel. Is vibration an issue ?

    What CNC machine do you recommend for someone starting out ? I predominately want to cut wood n plastics. And where is the best place to get it through

    • @EvanAndKatelyn
      @EvanAndKatelyn  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We're sponsored by Inventables, but we like the XCarve (the one we have here). There are smaller versions (we got the biggest) but it's one of the cheapest for the size and can cut wood and plastics: goo.gl/dBvSAL

    Where are those (i think) Silicone hanging open boxes from? I couldn't see them in the materials listed. I could find a few uses for them at home! I also wouldn't trust my handyman work enough to sit on it...

    I noticed a Shapeoko CNC in one of your videos (Topographical Texas), but an X-Carve in pretty much all of the rest of them. I'm in the market, and just curious if you truly have a preference or what the story is behind the vanishing Shapeoko.

    • @EvanAndKatelyn
      @EvanAndKatelyn  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Matt! They're both good machines in our experience. We ended up switching to Inventables because we really, really like them as a company and like that they have a goal of making CNC's available to more people that might otherwise be intimidated by CNC work - so it was more about which company we saw more of a lasting relationship with! Full disclosure, they're a sponsor of ours now, but we really do like em!

    You should name it Cienci-able !
    Like ‘CNC’ read in spanglish (also resembles the word science, as an extra thing although not entirely related), ‘able’ as just for table BUT also because you’re ABLE to do many projects with it!
