Have these on my Mercedes CLS and what a difference! I've had pzeros and pilot sports which have always played funny with the air suspension and the ride, these eagle f1's have restored the ride quality expected from a Mercedes 👍
I have Peugeot 2008 and I just fit Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 6 and I have to say these are the best set of tires I have ever used in my entire life based on dry handling dry cornering wet braking wet handling so on. They are the best right now
Hey Sam. Had these on both the scirocco and the golf r - I agree on the feel, but like you I enjoy the comfort and the exceptional grip. Only thing is they do wear somewhat alarmingly.
I have a full set of these on my SEAT Leon, I do like them. Before I had just two on the front and did have to replace them quite quickly which surprised me. The biggest downside is people telling me I should have gone for Pilot Sport's. People just assume the Michelins are always the best when that isn't always the case.
Just got these fitted to my TT S-line, have to get the s-line in ;) what a dream these are compared to whatever the last owner was doing putting avons on the back and hankooks on the front, launches so nicely and handles like a dreammmm
Many congrats on your Audi TT! For sure that is the best thing you can do to a car particularly if it has budget tyres on previously. Really can transform a car and thank you for sharing your experience so far 👍
It is a great tyre. Maybe the best in its category. If you want to have something more sporty, you should go for the pilot sport 4s or the bridgestone potenza sport.
I have just made the same change on my scirocco (ps4 to Asymmetric 6). I have found it to have made my steering heavier, which I like. Better wet grip. More comfort to be sure. Boring side wall is my only negative. I still prefer the feel from the Continental Premium Contact 6 (I had before the ps4) but these did not last and the 7 has gone too soft now. Shame.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the same change as mine too! I'll share an update on how I am getting on with these on the channel soon and it is interesting to hear your thoughts 👍
Hi Sam! Thanks for a good review on the tires. What profile and load index are you using? I have a diesel Ford mondeo on GY assymetric 3, and it feels like these have got a soft and flexible sidewall. Very crashy and bumpy ride. Load index 93 on these, but I am considering assymetric 6 on 235/40R19 with 96 rating for the next set. Car is perfectly comfortable on winter tires in the same dimension.
No worries at all and I plan to share an update on this in the future on the channel. I am using the standard setup recommended from Volkswagen with two passengers as I often travel alone. They do not feel crashy to me and have a nice plush ride compared to other tyres I have used particularly considering I have a Golf R with firm suspension as standard. I can recommend them for sure 😊
Yes for sure it's great to know there are other options out there which work really well. From my view all of the premium tyre manufacturers offer a great product so you can't go wrong with any of them it's just nice we have the choice as it's so important for driving 👍
Id rather the confidence in my tyres having 18's vs the 19's they give you in the states. The 19's look gorgeous but you really have to watch the potholes. Ive had 2 alignments in 3 years.
Yes potholes and the state of the roads just scare me particularly during the winter months. The 18" Cadiz wheels are very strong but the bigger you go size wise the more risk to buckling a wheel 😬 Wheel alignments seem to be the norm now however I know a lot of people go without this so I hope to encourage people to consider it at least once every 1-3 years.
I have not driven a car with the PS5's but if they are similar to the PS4 then I would say if you want a more dynamic tyre the Michelin may well be the one to go for. Once I have more run in the Goodyears here ill report back as it is still early days with the tyres 👍
Damn, nice car, i have my first car right now golf 4 1,9 tdi 66kw manual, working in food delivery, and i want to buy one of performance golf 7 (not facelift) on a manual gearbox, i think to buy GTD which have 135 kw, i think that this will be enough for me, +GTD at the same price as GTI have more features, that's why i don't really like GTI, i like features, and i think GTI will have more chances that someone crashed on it, and also i think about R because it has a better value, and not everybody can buy it, but R have smaller number of features, but R and GTI great at tunning and I'm studying to be a mechanic so i guess i won't have any problems. SOOO, what would you recommend to buy people?😂
Hi Sam, i've just these Goodyear tyres fitted last week to my 64 Plate Golf r. I have the 19" Pretoria wheels. My previous tyres were Michelin Pilot 4S, which i managed to get 20k miles out of them. Positives are less road noise and do seem to give a slightly softer ride. Totally agree with you on the steering though. Less feel than the Michelins, feels like the tyres are overinflated when they aren't.
I have the asymmetrical 6 255/35/R19 on Audi A5, I can feel some pulsing feeling on the accelerator, due to the feedback on the roads. I feel very uncomfortable on it after driving for an hour, Has anyone on 35/R19 experiencing this?
Okay, I did not like the 6s like I did the 5s. Very noisy on any less than perfect tarmac - crazy rumble at even very low speeds - and don't feel as safe as the 5s under heavy rain. Scirocco, 18 inches.
Strange, since the 6 should be -2dB in noise generation and should be better in both wet and dry for most disciplines (check out other videos comparing 5 and 6). I'am currently running the 5 asymmetric 235/35/19 on the cupra leon, and the 6 would address the noise issue I have. All things considered, the 5 is an incredible tyre of course!
@@koengeboors-groffy6388It is, and I would stick with it if I had to choose again. 6 can be extremely silent but only in extremely well-maintained roads. I don't know about the road conditions in your whereabouts. 6 is also quite poor in draining heavy rain at high speeds. Depends, again, on road conditions to some extent though.
I have the asymmetrical 6 255/35/R19 it was good on normal roads, but on rough roads it feels terrible and seems to grip on EVERY CREVICE on that uneven surface! On highway driving it is pretty comfortable and quiet.
Hi mate, im making the same switch on my A4 quattro from PS4 to Asy6. Im at 245 width, are these still going on well? I imagine my experience will be a bit different as the A4 is probably double the weight of the golf
Hey! I can recommend these 100% and from my experience so far they are a fair bit more comfortable from my PS4 tyres previously with perhaps a touch less feel to the steering. They are also better value all round as you say however I know Michelin tyres are known for their tyre life which does help justify the cost. My PS4 certainly proved this so it is hard for me to tell at this stage how long the Asy6's will last. You can't go wrong with either the PS4/5 or the Asy6 as they are both from great brands who make brilliant tyres. Ill share an update on mine in the future once I've put some more miles on the car 👍

Got a vw gti 18 inch rims, do you suggest Michelin pilot sport 5 or these goodyear tires?

@@SamAustin what do you think now?
try increasing the psi 3 units to help the steering feel. seems odd as tyre reviews say opposite vis a vis michelins
Thank you for the feedback. In the last few weeks I have increased the tyre pressure and actually the car does feel a little more engaging 😊

Thanks! It will depend on your budget but I am a big fan of the MK7 Golf. You can't really go wrong with any model in that generation in my opinion👍
Did you get the run flats or are they normal tubeless ?
I am thinking of switching from my run flat f1 assymetric 3 to a normal assymetric 6
Normal tyres. Not run flats. I can recommend them they are great 👍
Good tyres those
Thanks! I think so too. Have been very impressed with them so far 👍
Hello Sam, why are those called "asymetric" ? Is it because of the anti-curb outer added thickness ? Thx for the video
It’s got asymmetric tread patterns for better grip.
Answer is above 👆🙂
