I also agree about Steve Rothery, the emotion he puts into his solos is amazing

Slash losing his mind on the end of Paradise City is one that I always go back to. Slash is a huge reason why I took up guitar and why I keep trying to play a Les Paul (though I've gone right off GnR for some reason). I'd look stupid in that hat though.
And being such massive Iron Maiden fans as you are, I'm surprised no mention of Adrian Smith's Stranger in a Strange Land solo. That's a good one

Hahaha ahh Iron Maiden!! How on earth did we miss them off ay! 😂😂😂. Aye but Slash is the man, what a legacy hes gonna leave, big influence on a lot of players ay!

John Norum..... The FInal Countdown solo.........Love it or loathe it; you gotta admit it is instantly memorable!!🎸🎸🎸 Also listen to Europes 2nd album Wings of Tomorrow; the Europe boys loved UFO and you can hear John takes the solos to the next level. 'That metal show' Eddie Trunk is the host with Schenker / Hammett. Randy Rhoads died March 19th 1982; Only 26. Guess you have heard 'Tribute' After Berne was Brad Gillis for the tour (nightranger) then Jake E Lee replaced George Lynch (Dokken) at the auditions!!

Love the new single, a bit of wall of sound vibe about it. Unmistakably Massive Wagons definitely got your own sound going on.
Have a look at Nils Lofgren solo on Because the Night, live at Hardrock calling

Great vid guys! I remember a previous video you did where you recommended Europe's cover of "Love to Love", but I must admit, I don't know a lot of other UFO, so will check out "Profession of Violence" and "Only You Can Rock Me". Great shout-out re: "Sugar Mice" too! I have liked Marillion since 'Misplaced Childhood' but 'Clutching at Straws" is a great album too. Can't wait for the album. Will listen for any other Rothery influences. Cheers guys!

Really enjoyed this, guys. Thank you. I was thinking of some "favourite" solos. Elliot Easton, The Cars, Just what I needed .. Rick Beato's analysis of this, and Elliot's playing in general, is excellent. Rory Gallagher, too many to choose from .. maybe Shadowplay? Francis Rossi, Don't waste my time or Backwater. So melodic. To hear the whole of the Glasgow Apollo sing along to every guitar solo at my first Quo gig, in 1979, was absolutely amazing, and a real eye-opener. Not speedy or shreddy or even technically very good playing, in the accepted sense, but it was so tuneful and connected directly with the audience.

Fun Fact, Hotel California, was pinched by the Eagles from Jethro Tull, 'We used to know' in the early 70s, after they had been touring together.

Yep agreed on all you mentioned. It's Moore or Schenker for me all day long tbh. But it's an endless discussion really isn't it. I'm going to throw in the solo(s) to Please don't touch by Motorhead. Its not something people would rave about but I love how Kelly and fast Eddie play it like its one solo between the two of them. It's not always how fast it is. It's how its crafted and how it fits the song. Thats a great example. Love the new single boys. See you on tour!

Another brilliant podcast. But I'm going to name someone a lot of people hate...Malmsteen! His 1st solo album "Rising Force" is crammed with great classical influenced stuff.

Haha cheers buddy! Enjoyed this one! Ran over tho a bit haha. Malmsteen is the man, no doubt about it! Mad as a box of coconuts but aye, no questioning his incredible playing ability!
