@@khaeshante that's wicked!! The first step takes a fair bit of practice and time, but once you get that first rhythm down, the learning really accelerates. Well done on getting them, I'm sure they will provide a lot of entertainment :)
Nice just got these and a Shekere with a drum I bought did one lesson at my mental health group and really enjoying it even though I struggle to get the patterns
Amazing! I bet it’s brutal on the hands though. They’ve got to be heavy enough to swing around and then they’re making contact in front and back of hands, possibly hitting knuckles. VERY impressive.
You would think they have heft but actually the cas-cas are very light weight. I found them difficult to play because they are so light. It takes skill to play as good as Salliou.
Man and everybody at the drum circle gets mad at me when I play 5 beats. They're all like, you gotta count to 4. It has to be divisible by 4! I'm all like, why? I'm gonna show 'em this video. Africans are the original cool. This guy is great!
Polyrhythms line up eventually, for example a 3/4 beat will line up with a 4/4 beat on the 12th beat. You play your bar 4 times, they play there’s 3. If they’re giving you a hard time that’s on them
I once had to get my liver removed at the hospital when i woke up I could faintly hear a groovy beat coming from outside my room, i felt a sharp pain when i sat up and i realized, my balls are gone and the doctors are making some sick African beats with them
Just bought pair of plastic and whatever from Amazon. Gosh I would love to spend just one day with this dude... I would give him a drum set and enjoy letting him cook!!!
New short documentary of Djeli Fode Kujeti, a Mandinka Kora player, on Gorée Island. Check it out! th-cam.com/video/HfC2IpR-Qb4/w-d-xo.html
Can I buy this instrument from you?
Man, if i had these in middle school instead of making pen beats..
get yourself some now...?? your brain is willing to learn like a child's, it's just your attitude getting in the way :)
Lmao right
@@TheKoodus I got some today and cant stop lol

St8 fax brethren
I cannot imagine the work behind. Musicians always make it look like easy with their talent but it is so hard!
The timing and precision is impressive.
Those polyrhythms though... Sick. Thanks dude.
I just purchased a pair. I can't wait to get like my brother here.
🇸🇱 Sierra Leone
How does it called? Cannot fiind nothing on cas cas online
@@DjGreWu I think it’s called a kashaka? (Sorry for replying to such an old comment!)
I met him Last week in a boat in Gorée, he is OK and still an amazing musician
woah the kashaka is such a genius instrument, i hope it becomes huge and used more in songs worldwide
I cant even maintain the basic rythm. This is incredible!

Masterful. Must have been playing for many years to get such incredible skills. Amazing.
Best 5 minutes of my day.
If there was a Cas Cas hero game, (Guitar hero), he should be the final boss.

This is the hardest percussion instrument I've ever tried to learn!!! I wish I could bring him to TEXAS to give me lessons!☮️
It’s still awesome
I know this is an instrument but I’m strangely getting asmr vibes from this
I love this guy a very talented young man
Hypnotic!
I now want to use these as an instrument in D&D and call them the balls of my enemies.
It can also deal 2 d4 blunt weapon damage on top of being an instument
Will be giving one of those as starting weapons to the one shot table I'm running tomorrow. Thanks!
That was f****** incredible I can't believe what I just saw and heard
Wouaaahou so amazing 💗 he's such a great musician 🤩😍 I wish I could play this way one day ❤

Amazing music and amazing talent. Relaxes the soul. Thank you Salliou
Fantástico! I am from São Paulo city Brasil.

My dog: WHERE ARE MY BALLS??!
The Vet:
Amazing! I bet it’s brutal on the hands though. They’ve got to be heavy enough to swing around and then they’re making contact in front and back of hands, possibly hitting knuckles. VERY impressive.
They don't even hurt your hands. They're very light, and the only contact is gourd to gourd. It's all in the momentum from the shake.
Yeah you don't feel it at all really
Oh yeah, brutal. He is in so much pain 😂

Thousands of white guys with dreadlocks will now want this instrument.

mongreleater LOL!!!
you imply that people play instruments to look cool. try learning one ;)
I dont have dreads, but these shakers are close to the best sounding I've ever heard.
"I'm gonna blow their minds at the next drum circle, man"
Try all the different playback speeds! I like 1.25x and .75x

You’re probably playing with lower level musicians
Check out what Neil Peart does with 7/8 time.
@@pawpawstew 7/8 is my favorite time signature! 4/4 is so boring.
