  • Follow along as I make a stove jack for my Otter Vortex Lodge hub house so I can use my tent wood stove for ice fishing and/or cold weather camping. This window/stove jack will fit in both the side window and the "skylight" window and will still allow me to see out with it in place.
    Total cost for this project, about $14.

    Manly I am yes. I do wish I had sewing skills. Good detailed job! I would pay you your proper worth of time to make another for myself. I could send you the plastic window to start.

    Thank you for this tutorial. I was thinking about getting this tent and noticed the lack of a vent for a stove and thank God I found you.

      I'm glad the video was helpful! I've never seen a hub with a stove jack built-in but this project is fairly simple so you can make your own. Thanks for watching & good luck with your project! :)

      @@EndlessDIY thank you! Have you felt the need to set up extra protection in between the tent walls and the stove? I have seen a coupe other videos of people putting fiber glass screens probably because they are scared the heat will damage the tent.

      @@moiram3038 I do take along a fiberglass welding blanket that can be hung behind the stove. I've used the stove with and without the blanket but I think using it is a good idea, just for extra safety.

    Awesome Rush!!! The only thing that could go wrong is the stove/pipe heat radiating?! You Rock!!!

      Thanks, Bee Dub! I have a welding blanket I plan on running down the wall & under the stove, so hopefully that'll keep everything safe.

      Thanks! The trouble I've had is that I can't consistently find the copper mats so it's hard to offer the stove jacks.

    Looks like you're living a great life.
    This came up in my feed after looking up how Denver is using ice fishing tents for their homlees population. Sad but true 😢

    • @EndlessDIY
      @EndlessDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have to agree. I have built a life that I enjoy living, for sure.
      These ice fishing tents are $400-$800. I'm surprised the Gov't (taxpayers) provide them; where I'm from (L.A.) most homeless people have no shelter and the ones who do have $20-$30 nylon tents. I have seen restaurants buy these to use for outdoor dining, though.

    • @Franaflyby
      @Franaflyby 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EndlessDIY they say that the government spends up to 12,000 per homlees person a year. So this is way cheaper
      My son builds outdoor tents in Manhattan for the restaurants. Decorates them with his hand made tables and chairs and plants every where. Skid row cord u a few.

      I probably would if someone contacted me about it. I used copper grill mats for mine which work fine but it’d probably be a good idea to use actual stove jack material

    • @EndlessDIY
      @EndlessDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll be using the stove I rebuilt in this video: th-cam.com/video/iaPguBAKXUc/w-d-xo.html . I've never camped with a wood stove before so I'm really curious how well it'll work, too! My brother lives on a nearby lake so I'll be taking the whole works out there soon. Heck, if it goes sideways, I can always go in his house & crash on the sofa for the night. Lol!

    I don't know why American tent manufacturers don't make these things as options. In Russia, it can be purchased together with a tent.

    • @EndlessDIY
      @EndlessDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know, the only tents here that offer them are actual winter "wall" tents. I'm not sure if it's related to fire retardant or what.
