I really like how the Jersey Boys play, they play really well. For example I would have destroyed the Coffers instead of the high market, but since Matt had loads of Mana anyway it was more important to take aaway his sac Outlets, to stop Teysas engine from going off.
This was a great game, everybody had a moment to shine in the spotlight. Lovely decks too! And some real clutch plays. Thanks for this and thanks for the players for this awesomeness.
Finally a good Hapatra game! I think every other time she has shown up on the channel, the deck does nothing. Something ends up happening, whether it's mana screw, another player being oppressively ahead, or something.
Honestly I've been having trouble balancing Hapatra. The mana curve is a bit wonky and its a deck that functions best with the deepest pockets. Running things like Earthcraft and Yogmoth are optimal but pricey. Its the kind of EDH deck waiting for the right support to really take off it the future when more -1 counter synergy is printed.
Can't believe that I didn't see this earlier! Absolutely love Hapatra! She's the first commander that I am planning on building completely from scratch.
Rude awakening (no entwined) + Tutor card (lower cmc the better beseech the queen is good) + Seasons past = Infinite mana + infinite cast Now grab aetherflux and repeat the loop to gain infinite life because infinite casting of spells. Boop.
Probably the best game you've ever done :) Great reactions, no missplay, and good comeback from players. Just sad to see and "infinite X mana in your face" to close the game but hey, that's the timmy speaking
14:53 it's so good when Dictate of Erebos comes in that right moment. I was waiting tô Teysa start the engine on the board and that terminate... Terminated all lol I loved the counterplay here... You killed my creatures, so the field gonna lost some too.
I thought the same but if im not mistaken, its like sacrificing creatures after battle damage. If it was a "destroy all creatures" type of boardwipe, then I believe you wont be able
Was Landfall Yarok popularized due to that budget video or is it just that good? Haven't been keeping up with Commander these past few weeks due to work so I'm a bit clueless atm.
@@Johan_Liebert_ I think it was the second thing that people thought about (the first being creatures). I've seen a lot of channels talking about landfall Yarok. Let's say that land are not usually interacted with in casual pods, so it's a kind of resilient strategy.
Right. It is easier to build from the obvious and from lists. For my part, I like to see non-conventionnal builds and also I try hard to build my decks in a different way when possible (let say for example that with Hapatra I can't see a build that do not use the obvious good -1/-1 counter cards). For example, my Yarok deck is an elf tribal +1/+1 counter theme (mostly simic). It works great even without Yarok on the field. There is so much triggers going on, its really fun to play.
I have a Hapatra's EDH and one thing i understand now is that Hapatra's is a tokens deck with a -1/-1 counters subtheme, my list is much more effective that way, i cut almost every creture with infect or wither that does nothing beyond that and put things like avenger of zendikar, grave titan etc, and offcourse CRATERHOOF!
Sultai enchantment deck was pretty sick. Top 5 of my favorite decks I've seen on the channel for sure. Does it run the green aura ramp and green enchantresses too?
Now that's what Commander is all about. Big swings, each player's deck being able to showcase their own theme, and lots of interaction. I will admit though, it was easy to see Trevor's win coming from a mile away as he was continuously gathering resources while the other 3 were each competing for the Archenemy position.
As a really big Hapatra fan I was sad she didn't win. I have never been a fan of infect Hapatra however. IMO she doesn't synergize well enough to run infect so you have to build a separate package just for infect. I feel like the infect just adds another huge target on your back you don't need while trying to set up. Great game from all sides though, and a nice comeback from Trevor.
Today I had a torment of hellfire where x = 14, got countered by blue player. Next one by the same player x = 9 I go to 5 life I proceed to gain 21 life each turn for the next two turns and close the game out
To be fair everyone ignored the partner player since they were having a slow start at first they let him catch back up and paid the price. (Even though he rarely even used his commanders, I still feel like everyone popped off in their own way at some point.)
I got to ask, why so many card draw spells like Naturalize? Isn't it better to run permanent based repeatable card draw, like, say, Guardian Project and the likes?
Killing High Market was a misplay, with Viscera Seer still on the board for Matt. Especially when you consider Primal Amulet flipped the Turn after Ryan’s.
If I am not mistaken that after the Blasphemous Act at 17:36, followed by the Krosan Grip, Matt should have not been able to activate any abilities before the Blasphemous Act went off due to the Split Second ability.
Black Sun Zenith was cast where x=5. The Eel Umbra was cast in response targetting Yarok, giving it the extra toughness needed to survive (it is 3/5 normally, but 4/6 with the umbra)
can totem armor protect from -1/-1 counters (black suns zenith + eel umbra)? I thought it only protects from destruction and those counters dont destroy
@@MTGMuddstah maybe just the games I've watched, just never see someone mulligan to 6. Also always seems like everyone has 3-4 lands with some ramp and low cost spells on curve. Haven't seen all the games though so might just be the ones I've watched. Thanks for the vids though they are great.
Midnight banshees is only really good in hapatra if for somereason you cant cast you cmdr or you have some aristocrats pieces in play like artist or in hapatra deck obelisk spider.
Absolutely. Midnight banshee is an all-star in Hapatra if you have the pieces. Zulaport,Falkenwrath,Blood artist, obelisk sp, blowfly infestation, nest of scarabs. I REALLY dont like infect in Hapatra.
@@sasukeds yeah, infect has it's place if you have life gain in your meta or just as an alternate wincon since you wanna proliferate anyway, but the deck is sooo much more efficient if you just focus on blight and whither effects to spread around the counters. The few infect creatures i run have other purposes like Phyrexian hydra because it puts counters on itself so you are guaranteed multiple snakes. If you dont block it you deserve the counters xD
Dance of Many is one of my favorite cards in my new Yarok Deck and i can really recommend playing that Card! 👍 diabolic servitude is pretty funny too and has some really weird interactions when it gets 2 creatures out of your graveyard!
He let the krosan grip resolve as you can see him putting the dictate of erebos into his graveyard. After that but before the resolution of the board wipe he can play spells and activate abilities as he likes - but his enemies dont have to sacrifice creatures because of the missing dictate 👍
He removed the Wurmcoil because the tokens it would generate upon dying from itself, Teysa's trigger doubling, and anointed procession. If he hadn't the Wurmcoil would've made 8 tokens on death, then gave Trevor 8 more cards when the second copy of Decree resolved. I don't think anyone implied that decree draws double off of Teysa.
I really like how the Jersey Boys play, they play really well. For example I would have destroyed the Coffers instead of the high market, but since Matt had loads of Mana anyway it was more important to take aaway his sac Outlets, to stop Teysas engine from going off.
This is one of the best episodes from your channels I've seen in a long time. Seeing a constellation Yarok was very pleasing.
I like how balanced the decks ended up being despite some potentially broken commanders. Fun game to watch!
This was a great game, everybody had a moment to shine in the spotlight. Lovely decks too! And some real clutch plays. Thanks for this and thanks for the players for this awesomeness.
By the way, it's not possible to do anything between knowing who Vial Smasher's hitting and the damage being dealt. :D
You're quite right, but sometimes things get lost in the heat of the moment.
@@MTGMuddstah Most certainly. Heaven knows, we've all realized two turns later "Oh crap, I shouldn't have been able to do that!"
@@Scherezad_ "Wait, that was an illegal target back when you cast x" "Huh. You're right" "Oh well"
Another stellar game! I can't wait to see the new Commander 2019 legends in action! 😁
Not sure why Trevor Dualcaster Maged the Exsanguinate. 3*6=2*9. i dont think he really needed the 2/2 body

Man constellation Yarok is such a cool deck idea! I'm not normally a fan of Yarok, but this is a build I can definitely get behind.
Muddstah do you think youll ever do a planechase video again?
I do!
17:38 I believe there was a misplay here with activating abilities while krosan grip was on the stack
He waits for it to resolve but does things before the board wipe resolves
I thought the same but if im not mistaken, its like sacrificing creatures after battle damage. If it was a "destroy all creatures" type of boardwipe, then I believe you wont be able
Split second only prevents you from doing things while it's on the stack, so as soon as It resolves you're free to cast spells and activate abilities

Did Trevor fetch for Overgrown Tomb early in the game? If so, it looks like he didn't shock himself.
Trevor cast random spells to flip amulet.

Nice throwback reference with the Animorphs
Did doom waker giant make Ryan tokens? Nice game I injoyed it

I love the opening with the ad from KCI
Could we get Cam's Meren decklist for the previous video? I'm curious to see what he runs

Not that it really matters, but Ryan didn't attack with the snake while goaded

You have to attack everyone but the person who played it
If you can't attack the other players through some effect or they are now dead you must attack the person who goaded.
Hell yeah, it’s the jersey boys!
damn, pro play with that decree of pain

slight misplay as eel umbra wouldn't've protected Yarok from the Black Sun's Zenith

7:45 the Umbra would not have saved Yarok. It only saves it from being "destroyed," not from its toughness being 0. Great episode otherwise! :D
The Zenith was for 5. The umbra gave Yarok +1/+1 so its toughnes was 6 therefore it didnt die
