Fantastic deck tech. This has given me some great inspiration for my own Teysa Karlov deck. This is basically my first fully constructed commander deck, so i really appreciate videos like this
The amount of love and effort you put in your videos are great. I see that even with SNC releasing soon you have updated your deck list in moxfield after all this time. You have earned my sub and many more
This is one of my favorite commanders hands down. My favorite standard deck was aristocrats back in the original innisstrad and return to ravnica. GREAT deck tech my friend. It gave me some good ideas for my own list. I love some of the more interesting card choices here. I hope to see this channel take off
Back when i played standard, aristocrats was far and away my favorite strategy. Teysa was also my first serious commander deck i built, so there is a lot of nostalgia when playing her. Thanks heaps Justin, i really appreciate it :)
Your Teysa deck is awesome! I have watched many Teysa Deck tech videos, and the synergies in your deck seem the most interesting, unique, and powerful. It is clear you have put a lot of thought into developing the deck, it is particularly badass how you found that you can use recursions spells such as Brought Back and Faith's Reward as ramp in the early game. Unfortunately, fetch lands are a bit too expensive for my budget, so I had to go a different direction with some of the ramp and card selection for my deck. That being said, your video opened my eyes to replacing the bog standard commander deck mana rock and removal spell inclusions such as mind stone and Disenchant with ramp/removal that comes attached to a small body. Simply having one or two extra non-token creatures on-board for sacrificing generates a huge amount of value with Teysa, and , in the case you need additional removal/ramp, you can easily get the creatures back from the graveyard using the deck's creature recursion package.
Thanks Robster, that really means a lot. Those bodies really do make all the difference for Teysa, because like you said, you can access them again in the graveyard and they have additional utility. It also breaks up the monotony of feeling like you are always including the same 20 cards in every deck you build. Have fun with your Teysa build. She was one of the first commander decks i ever built and i still enjoy playing her to this day :)
Idk how strong this deck is, I'm just gathering info, but imo your videos are extremely well done the way that you transition into everything how nice it looks to watch very very well done in my opinion.
You can also run viscera seer to scry to move lands off the top or to keep certain cards in your library plus it's a sac engine and can sac itself to its ability
I built this, and I included both Bitterblossom and Skrelv's Hive, as well as Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation to GREAT effect. I use stuff like Secure the Wastes, Martial Coup, Blot out the Sky, and White Sun's Zenith; as well as Inkshield to make me a ton of tokens as well
Also, if you use Reanimating Zombie or Oathsworn Vampire, you can do an infinite loop with G1/L1 (Blood Artist, Zulaport, etc), Ashnod's Altar, and Pitiless Plunderer: Sac Oathsworn and buy him back with a treasure, and just keep doing it until everyone at the table is dead
Amazing deck tech, I run a thalisse Reverent medium aristocrats build. I'm fully aware she functions better as a token generator / overrun sort of build, but I've been hell bent in making her work as an efficient aristocrats strategy, with each passing moment I found myself admiring this teysa build more and more. I'll keep plucking away with my thalisse build as it's become a pet deck for me, but this deck certainly seems a powerhouse
If you check the decklist out in the description, you'll see the most updated list with card changes discussed in the "primer" section. Since this video, there have been some sweet new cards that have been added :)
Tombstone stairwell should be in this deck. With as many death triggers there are combining it with a blood artist or similar while teysa is out is brutal. If something like crowded crypt or elenda are out as well you’ll be swimming in enough tokens by your turn you can do whatever you need to finish any opponents off that survived a go around with tombstone stairwell.
I love this deck and am thinking of building it card for card for my first commander deck. Coming from modern this deck looks right up my alley. One question have you tried liliana dreadhorde general. Saw a lot of lists that run her and was wondering if she was just too slow. Thanks again this deck has me very excited for commander.
That's awesome to hear Brandt. Teysa was actually the second commander deck i ever built and she is a lot of fun to pilot. Lili is very strong in this deck, but yep you nailed it on the head, it was just a little too slow for me personally. Good luck with the deck, may you get all the death triggers :)
@@casual_commander hey I also wanted to ask if you felt the deck was optimized. Is there any changes you would make to make it even more competitive? Like I noticed no soul ring etc. If so what would you add and cut to make it better. Was just making sure before I purchased cards. My local meta is very competitive so I want to have fun but not be hammered lol
@@webrebg i would rank the deck probably around a 7/10 power-level wise. To power it up, all you need to do is add some fast mana and tutors e.g. sol ring, mana crypt, demonic tutor, vampiric tutor. As for what to cut, that comes down to personal preference, but i would focus on any cards with mana value 4 or more, as they tend to be less viable the more competitive a meta gets e.g. Yosei, Vindictive Lich etc. But for sol ring and mana crypt, i think you could just cut two lands and it wouldn't hurt your mana base at all.
@@casual_commander ok I was thinking of adding vampiric tutor, demonic tutor, mana Crypt and soul ring. I'm still going to purchase orional list and just add these cards in and out based off of power level of other decks. Based off your experience what would you take out for those 4. Sorry to keep bothering you with this but I know you are experienced with the deck and know what would be best to cut. Thank you so much and again sorry to bother lol
@@webrebg i would take out 1 swamp and 1 plains for the sol ring and mana crypt. For the tutors, take out prowling geistcatcher and vindictive lich. Not a problem, happy to help :)
I'm in the process of building this deck. I've had to shoehorn Flesh-Eater Imp and Anointed Procession in. I've cut Emeria's Call and Reassembling Skeleton. Any thoughts on that would be welcome.
Flesh-eater Imp is a great alternative win-con and having an extra sac outlet is never a bad thing in an aristocrats deck, as it is one of the key pieces you need to get the engine going. Anointed procession is a great card for the deck. Helps the go-wide strategy quicker if you are leaning into the combat token theme, but also just provides more sac fodder for the engine. Can't see any issues with the swaps you are making :)
@@casual_commander Thank you! Yeah I was just thinking of the extra sac fodder and treasure generation. If I was going down the combat side, Cathar's Crusade would be a must I think.
I felt i had enough redundancy in that slot and i also wanted to diversify the win conditions. I love Teysa, but you can build her in a way that ends up being too linear, causing the deck to become stale.
As someone who is currently building an aristocrats deck this gave me inspiration thanks for the video, but I will ask have you thought about putting Elas il-Kor into the deck?
@@casual_commander Me too.... I'm making a version of this deck now.. Belfry Spirit is the haunt card I was thinking.. Blind Hunter isn't bad but the cmc is eh... lol Keep up the vids.. you got a sub Bro. For taking the time to answer ✌
@@casual_commander i know im asking alot of questions but most of all if i were to add 4 tutors to this deck what cards would i be wanting to pull out of my library to get the engine going is my question. i would add demonic tutor, enlightend tutor, diabolic intent and also idyllic tutor. is that good cus it increases the chances to get the cards u need but im just wondering what would be the first card u pull out of ur library with a tutor
Really enjoyed the video. One of the better deck techs I've seen. Keep it up! Thanks.

Great deck tech! definitely got some amazing ideas :)
Thanks!!! :)
Very interesting deck tech. With so many strong value pieces it would be hard for opponents to correctly decide which cards are kill on sight
Even with experience against the deck, yep, it can be really hard to decide when to pull the trigger on what.
You can also run viscera seer to scry to move lands off the top or to keep certain cards in your library plus it's a sac engine and can sac itself to its ability

You wouldn’t happen to have an updated list with the newer cards that have come out would you?

What card does the art in the backround comes from at 1:59 please ?
No card, it's some custom art 🙂
@casual_commander what are you talking about? No it's not. It's the card art from Revival/Revenge.
The card is Revival/Revenge
What is that opening music?!?? So goood!
Tbh I can't remember now lol. I was just searching through music looking for something that sounded Orzhov :)

Have u ever tried put Elenda as CMD and put Teysa on the Deck?
Never. For the way this deck is built, I think Teysa does a lot more.
Great video. But I believe exile is a nonbo with Teysa.

A non-bo with which cards, because Dathi specifies opponents???
okay but how much land should u put in this deck?
