    Once again, an Amazing Video & Thank You for sharing! This compliment is coming from a 59 year old guy that's been in the fabrication business for most of my adult life. Great job, both with design & welding!

    Looks awesome A tab/slot setup on those internal ribs would make fitting everything up even easier

    That laser cutting was so precise. How cool! I love that you shared the whole process with this. So cool.

    Would be interesting seeing a cost analysis vs weight of this beam compared to the same design built with chromo

    • @silentbobfan32

      @the_trashman chomoly is not lighter, you get weight savings by using thinner material.
      chomoly also generally does not have as much resistance to fatigue, although i am not sure if that is because of material properties or just the thinner material being used

    Beams look pretty nice, but load bearing suspension parts should definitely be 4130, if nothing else at least the tabs that hang the knuckle. Bolt holes in mild steel will open up, maybe even some 4130 weld washers

    Love it! I have a laser at work that I definitely take advantage of. Tip for your next design with a laser, TAB AND SLOT! It'll help out in assembly later and pay dividends. I usually use a slot size about .010-.015" larger than the tab. Looks awesome! Really inspiring to make me want to do long beams on my '75 F250

    • @shakeydavesr
      @shakeydavesr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Came here to say this. Tabs and slots definitely help in not only lining things up, but keeping them lined up. Depending on the fit tolerances, we do a lot of things with minimal clamping and fixturing.

    I know you mentioned that the overlays were tig, but why? Tighter HAZ?

    • @WingsWorldChannel
      @WingsWorldChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, little less heat in the part all together but also just for the looks side of it! Overlays are thinner than the rest of the beam so in my opinion it wouldnt have looked as good mig welded as it does tig! -Christian

  • @WhyBeNick

    WELL worth the extra weight in the beams/radius arms to know they're bulletproof. One of the primary benefits of beamed trucks is durability, so the lightweight construction of the Camburg setup seemed a bit strange.
