Harrods is mainly geared for tourists and wealthy locals. Its very popular with middle eastern and asian customers. Londoners rarely visit Harrods and if we wanted to shop at a luxury department store we usually choose Selfridges on Oxford street.
Speak for yourself! I shop at Harrods! Selfridges is for chavs, roadmen, drug dealers and wannabes. Harrods serves Londers first, tourists are secondary. Londers keep the lights on!
I’ve worked there several times, it’s a well-oiled machine where staff & customers have a reciprocal relationship of great fun, highest quality & customer service that perpetually feeds into the atmosphere of the store Yes it can be expensive of course but there’s a lot to it I noticed you guys were smiling most of the video, I love to see new people experience it, they’re almost always awe struck & get into the vibe, and that’s what we want & what makes it a pleasure to serve in & of course we want people to tell people “ hey! We went to Harrods in London & there’s a reason it’s the most famous department store in the world…….”
If I'm not mistaken Harrods was also owned by Mohamed Al-Fayed. I could be wrong but I think Dodi and Diana used to shop/eat here? Or was it more at the Ritz hotel nearby which they also owned? I think there is a statue inside of Harrods which wasn't shown which commemorates them both, its a copper statue, or maybe it was removed recently?
That food hall looks incredible. Thats probably what I'd spend most of my day doing if I visit Harrods again. I need to try all those incredible desserts right now!
The guy in green gave some interest in mg info on Harrods....it's really beautiful inside...lots of variety in foods to please all and I like that you're always thinking about your kids....nice...As always Thanks David ...safe travels....Peace.
Harrods during December is a sight to behold for sure. It's like Macy's in NYC or any of the big Xmas stores that are famous. Beautiful and extremely bright lol Now the last time I went to Harrods was probably in 1995 or so, the prices are so insanely higher now (and not just the inflation stuff either, just in general) it's nuts. That being said, the egg tarts there are superb if you get them freshly made. I will say though, outside of France and some other European nations - some of the best chocolate I've ever had was in Harrods. Which also includes white chocolate, which is my favorite. Just so, so good.
The thing to do when you shop at Harrods, is just buy anything to get a bag. The Harrods bag is like a "I was there" memento of being able to buy something 😅
Hi there Andreas, good to see you here and so glad you are enjoying the Engilsh series. I am catching up on stuff right now but I'll be doing Saudi/Indonesia after London and maybe The Netherlands. Mostly we are moving forward with new content due to the content style shift and a reorganizing of the schedule but we will definitely be releasing them within the next month or two.
I went to Harrods three times and it still wasn’t enough, I love that place so much. Thank you for the great tour and video! (P.S. I need more unedited content because you’re literally such a cool person) love you david ❤
I visited Harrod’s during my trip to London with my college British literature class years ago! It’s where I bought all my gifts for my family. I still remember the fancy chocolates and apron featuring a map of the streets of London that I purchased! Such fun memories! Loved this video💗
@@ToniWongCIM it was a very scheduled school trip and we weren’t allowed to venture on our own. We mostly visited castles, cathedrals and delved into literature history. I love shopping local and small businesses🤗
Wow thank you so much for saying that NNiolet! We do have a lot more this style on the second channel More DavidsBeenHere, but we wanted to include a bit more of this more "raw" unedited style onto the main channel. its super creatively liberating plus we do tend to get more authentic interactions without a huge camera in people's face. Thank you so much once again and have a great week.
Oh my gosh ~ that’s the biggest egg tart I’ve ever seen! That salmon cake literally says hello to me! That roast beef burger you eat is sure to taste better than any fast food restaurant burger! Every food in this mall is beautiful and tempting, I like it! We all know the reason for the rise in prices. China started to study the virus and sending weapons to Russia decided everything! I think the first pair of glasses you wear will suit you best and look cool! When you visit those stores, I realize how big the mall is, and the eagle model is really weird, haha! My mood improved after watching this video! Thank you very much for taking us to the most expensive and beautiful store in the world! 👍😍👏
It is sad to know yesterday that British pianist Dr. Brendan Kavanagh was bullied and threatened with shooting at a British train station! What is even more sad is that the British police who were bribed actually helped those people instead of helping him! His country should be the country in the world that has been thoroughly infiltrated! The people only care about the royal family and don’t care about the things around the common people! Fortunately, we still have Dr. Brendan Kavanagh, a smart, kind and righteous man! 👍🥰🙌

London is such a beautiful place but soo expensive....could you even visit on a budget ?? 😂 ...great content btw ..thank you for the experience through your lens
Visiting London during peak season is going to be tough (summer months) although with a hostel and cheaper food options it is definitely possible but not as easy as it used to be. It also depends on the area you are staying in, but Harrods was in more of a posh/stately neighborhood. Its definitely not going to be "cheap" though lol, maybe more like "affordable, but barely".😂
The only time I've been in Harrods is to laugh at all the ludicrous prices, I saw a bed in there for 10 grand 😂 I feel like it's tasteless all this showing of wealth
The mother of a family friend worked in the Harrods Food Hall for many, many years. I believe she was well into her 80s when she retired from there. She would occasionally get to bring food home, and some of it would find its way to us. To be honest, I was never really that impressed with what we received, although maybe she kept the best stuff for herself!
Finally some class and culture. If the British empire still ruled the world there would be a harrods in every corner of the world instead of a Walmart. Such a shame what we lost.
I've been to Harrod's plenty of times, but I've never really understood the hype surrounding it's shopping. It's history is there and it's fascinating, but I've always preferred Selfridges, or John Lewis. When you go to other parts of Europe and find stores like El Corte Ingles or Peek & Cloppenburg, then Harrod's really starts looking like a huge rip-off. My main gripe is that so many of the departments inside look so cluttered and disorganized sometimes.
You're paying for history, the service and the like most things that drive higher prices, the location. It not just the fact that it's one of the most famous names ever, Harrods, it's the fact it's on Knightsbridge too. Of course there is cheaper option any where. But last year Harrods made over 550 mil PROFIT. So just because you don't understand the hype surrounding it's shopping, alot of people do. The fact that you said "I've been to Harrod's plenty of times" is quite conflicing to the rest of your comment too. Something is making you go back?
What a shame the bloke didn't get the opportunity to correct himself when he said "Bell Bows" instead of "Bow Bells". I bet he'll be so embarrassed if he sees this!
I was there over 45 years ago with my parents and sisters. My mother was determined to get us each something from Harrod's. I got a Scottish wool kilt which I had until a few years ago when I gave it to a niece. I don't recall the food displays being so extensive back then. To me except for the pretty exterior of the building, the inside glitz and glam wasn't much different than Sak's Fifth Avenue or Lord & Taylors in N.Y.C was in those days.
lovely story Emily thank you for sharing that. And yeah its fairly comparable to some of the big stores in NYC also Bergdorf Goodman etc although I think the main thing about Harrods is that its the original so it has a bit more history. That said lovely comment and great to see you as well.
Lol the bigger your bank balance the more u don't care about price😂 its just weird coz no one buys 4500 pounds worth of a bear unless they are rolling in money.
