Okay so here we are again with the Loomis method. Only this time I am going to show you how you can use this method to your advantage when it comes to drawing portraits! The single biggest struggle with portraits is your proportion, without it, your drawings will not look right. In this tutorial, we are drawing step by step and uncovering what makes the Loomis method so amazing for drawing portraits. Stay happy, stay healthy, and remember #neverstopdrawing

I've been struggling with drawing heads in a right way. And BOOM!! TH-cam (for once in my life) suggested something that I need. Sir, your such a good teacher. Thanks for the videos. Gladly appreciate. Thanks, a thousand.

Your videos are absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills. I just started drawing after like 10 years of hiatus and you really help me to shrug the rust off. I never used such methods in the past and i must say; they make it so much easier.
Haha thank you, I’m glad that they are helping you get back into drawing ✍🏼
I just found your channel and I’m so happy ❤ I love everything about your videos and the way you teach, thank you 🙏🏻

I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I've tried my best. But my butt needs to wake up, so I have to move and put the pencil away. I'll definitely watch other of your great videos. Thanks soooo much, this video was a true relaxation for me. Even though there was a moment of frustration, somehow it occurred in exact moment of your video when you said that drawing should be relaxing, so subliminally my inneself listened and relaxed once more. Well done, you're a great teacher. Keep it going. All the best in the New Year too.😁
Hey BellaQueen, thank you so much! I am very happy that this video helped you out. That is just it, drawing should be fun, so if its getting frustrating just walk away and come back to it when you are in a better frame of mind. I hope that you have a great 2022 as well! Cheers, and good luck on your drawing journey!!! :)
This is the easiest and simplest way of learning the loomis method , Thanks a lot for sharing the knowledge. 🙏😇

I did not think I would finish this video lol. thank u kind sir for making
Hope you enjoyed it!
Bro deserves to have 10m subs bro u earned my sub thanks man
I appreciate you my friend :)
I absolutely love your channel and find it extremely educational, and your voice is perfect for narration! I do find at times the video contrast needs to be modified, as it is hard to see the sketch lines on the Loomis head. Thanks for your work!
That’s awesome, I’m glad you are enjoying the channel. I agree, the contrast does need to be adjusted for future projects. Everything is filmed with a smartphone so sometimes contrast is a problem.
@@MesserCreations All Good, I think I will survive! lol

Thanks for this great tutorial! I find it hard to see the reference on the screen and was trying to find it online; is there a link to the reference photo to make it easier to follow along? Thanks again; this is incredibly instructive and helpful.
My pleasure, I’m glad it was helpful. Unfortunately I don’t have access to that specific reference photo anymore. Otherwise I would simply make a google doc and link that to the description.
@@MesserCreations Thanks for letting me know!
Absolutely, take care 😊🙌🏻
Great tutorial , what pencil are you using ?
Prismacolor, I have a shop link in the corner of the vid if you wanna pick some up. Hope they help 😊🙌🏻

🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Do you have/know any good tutorials for drawing facial features like the nose, eyes, brows, lips etc?
I've watched your Loomis head tutorials and and can draw a Loomis head from almost any basic angle now but idk how to continue practising
I'm actually working on some videos that are follow ups to the Loomis videos that I have. I also have a bunch of step by step portrait tutorial classes on just what you're looking for on my Skillshare channel as well. @@MesserCreations Thank you so much!
@cornondanob6722 you’re welcome 😊
Mine turned out looking like Handsome Squidward
Keep drawing, it’s all about repetition. Just don’t stop 🙌🏻
Oh this is another comment, hopefully i am not too bothering. Just ignore it if so.
I found it way easier to draw portraits of black&white pictures. These make it way easier for my brain because shadow and therefore shapes are easier to identify and draw.
Do you know this issue? Any advice to make my brain recognize shapes/shades of colored photos? Is it just experience and making more and more sketches?
No not at all, just glad to help out. Honestly I am the same way. The monochromatic scale is easier to digest than color theory is. Color has more rules than simple black and white does. My advice would be to sketch ✍🏼with a single colored pencil like the classes I have on Skillshare. Just sketch different portrait angles. Much of it is practice, practice, practice. Don’t feel alone, I have struggled with the same kind of stuff.
@@MesserCreations woah that was a quick response! Didn't expect that. You are awesome, thank you! I will check those out.
I noticed a lot of how you approach drawing overall resembles pretty much anything i do, it's a little scary hehe. The layers, the shapes even the illusions by small strokes directing the viewer; it all is extremely similar to my way of drawing.
Of course you are way better in every aspect but the basics are the same :3
I will check out your skillshare lessons! :)
Haha some times 😊🙌🏻 I have found that principle approaches tend to benefit across different techniques that artists will use. That’s cool that your approach is similar to mine. I appreciate the kind words my friend, take care!
Друг, ты лучший ! Спасибо, за мастер класс !

Andrew Loomis once said: "If you intend to make a living at drawing, by all means learn it [the rules of perspective] now, and do not have them bothering you and your work for the rest of your life." your works are not in perspective, work on it
Great character can also take constructive criticism.
your videos show absolute lack of flow, i am certain you spend hours on overdoing to make something seem natural, your cuts show only established lines.
Haha that’s funny 😆
@@MesserCreations because it's true.
Thank you sir
You are so welcome my friend 😊
