I loved watching the battles between CR and JS. Don't get me wrong anyone racing at that level has talent. Chad just did not have as much raw talent. But he made up for it with race craft, hard work and an extremely competitive spirit. He had gut's to do things that he probably new was pushing beyond 100% just to follow JS. He's got my respect and kudos for bringing the battle to JS. Remember these guys were putting a lot on the line every time they raced. It's a very dangerous and competitive sport and that stress will weigh heavily on anyone and contort one's nature. I always said if JS just learned to reign it in just a bit and be more strategic he could have won a lot more. Anyways after watching CR's interview lately I have come to see he is a good guy and they all had respect for each other at some level.

Rivals always have a hard time with each other because they need it to beat each other when racing, after racing it stops as it did between Hannah and his rivals. James has even talked about his time racing and said that as soon as the helmet goes on he’s a different person and will do anything to win ( I can relate to that myself while racing at a far lower level than him ) it’s just life it’s nothing to do with who or what colour people are, it’s a rival in your sport !

There's a reason Bubba was coined "The fastest man on the planet". The entire SX fan base got totally hosed when they suspended him, and i don't blame him one bit for distancing himself from the powers that sanctioned him. It was total BS and tainted all events that followed, IMO. Pretty sure he would have won the title that year, and possibly the following year. Even look at the unprecedented lack of support that there was for Malcolm after he won the lights title. I haven't renewed my AMA membership ever since. Sorry. I don't support bigotry.

After he won the title he chose not to race outdoors for no reason, and it made it seem like the dude doesn’t want to put in the effort to race the whole year. Yeah I had retired from Motocross got my bronze watch, and had been missing it so I just didn't keep up with it any more but when I left it it was a big part of me,but on tv when I left Bubba was just having his first few 125 sx races and chad was not a super star yet,a few year later the tv was on and a supercross race was on,and guess who...I laughed and said Chad and Bubba still beating on each other.Nobody in this bar new I raced, and it was a few years like 5,and I could tell chad and Bubba had been in a personal war with each other, and even though I hadn't seen them race each other in a bunch of years could tell they were tormenting each other for a while just by the way they were racing each other for a few corners. That is agonizing, when u line up against anyone that u know is as good as u on any given day,so u know u have to be perfect and then some, know matter who u are and how good u are with putting the pressure behind u or off to the side for a time, that all changes when that rival is rubbing on your swing arm trying to get by.But that terrible I had know idea James Jr had to as a pro put up with that kind of shit...like the guys said,embarrassing...I will day this I was at a supercross,in 1989 in my home state and Damon Bradshaw thru his goggle to a fan,and this poor guy had four people two on either side of him pulling the goggle strap and choking him as he tried to keep his souvenir,I was appalled I lived 5 miles from that stadium and these were my people, not cool, not cool at all,I was like dudes just chill its goggles for god sakes, let it go,kinda ruin my whole day after i after I volunteered to flag and work as a course and safety work for these people....man I was pissed.thanks mates.

Even more respect for Reedy, the guy raced hard gives it everything, but still has a heart, people saying he was or is jealous of Stewart, seriously grow up, they’re was is a racers will to win, no one likes being beat, if you do you never made it to the pros. Reedy always shows respect, sometimes shit happens on a track, the best are defined by they’re rivals there nemesis in any sport with that you can never be great. There allot more here than what we are shown by media past and now, I don’t know what to make of JS nowadays the only thing as Reedy says seeing him with his kids and seeming s good dad, lest he has that, be great if James and him got on the golf course and talked about some of the battles they had over the years, they should be celebrated not degraded, those racers are the best racers as hard as they are at the time, if you kids want hate check out Massacare at Saddleback, Hannah still has no time for Howerton, they’re hard racing and then there’s hard racing, to me James and Reedy raced hard, times things got rough, but never like what happened between Hannah and Howerton. I hope James watch’s this and maybe remember the racing for what it was, not what he perceives through the media, he should know better than anyone the media and facts or lack of em for a story. Reed is genuine to me imo. Also to you guys that can’t seem to get past Reeds contribution, he did best RC and Stewart both in they’re prime for 2 SX championships and an outdoor title, few have done that. 85 those 3 dominated the SX season and were the only guys on 250 2t beating the cheating rest of the pack on 450s and most of the time beating them all badly. Fan of RC, Reedy and jS of that era. Hope the bridges can be mended seems something Reedy would like and it would be good for James I think.

I remember James was racing and his mom overheard some dumb ass racists commenting about james and his mom put an end to it. James was a fearce rider and am glad I got to see him rip.

Bad blood because Reed was jealous of Stewart's speed.

Yeah, but I bet it was more that he was jealous of the JS vs RC rivalry. They pushed each other to insane speeds and their rivalry was legendary because of it. Reed was close but far away, the king of the also-rans. If not for James it would’ve been a CR vs. RC narrative.

I don't get to go to really any of the races, I'm just a casual fan. I ride Enduro or woods trails. I also live in the southeast U.S. Alabama specifically. All of my friends that know who James is think he's rad. Don't get me wrong, I dig Chad as well, but I'm a Stewart fan for sure. No racism here. It's a select few for sure. No one I know of has said anything negative about him.... And if I heard that talk, I would protest it for sure.

Much more than a select few, sadly.
