Man to be honest. I am in my 30s now, grew up on motocross in the 90s and early 2000s. From the point of getting access to professional racing was through magazines and VHS ya all know the evolutionary transfer socialmedia impact and what not. With all due respect to newer generations kids and the progression of the sport, i feel ( this is my opinion) and a selected few friends of mine. Motocross / Supercross is not what it used to be the whole lifestyle of the sport have changed some for the better and some for worse, but as a whole. Mcgrath / pastrana and a sleeve of top names Windham, Larroco, but mainly Ricky and Chad and a bit later James is something that will never be repeated in this sport. I might be biased but for me the 90s and early 2000 was the perfect mix. Today we get access to everything especially with socialmedia and technology progression that it almost feel like we forget how it was.
I have the outmost respect for Ricky and Chad and i am happy that i was able to live and see them both in their prime in a sport that was from my point of view more exciting than it is today.
Sidenote: the last era of the two strokes was something i will never forget as for me motocross is two stroke for me as a child of the 80s it was a true pleasure to see Chad / Ricky / James ride the living death out of these machines.
I wish at times i had a time travel machine to be able to go back and relive those moments.

it’s gonna change even more when the electrics are allowed in AMA (which will probably be within 3 years) And like they did when the 4 strokes came in the scene, they will class them with an unfair advantage so the combustion engine will fade into obscurity. i hate it. i’m in my 50’s and in my opinion the sport began dying when 2 stokes were pushed out.
So when are they going to quit all this 4 stroke nonsense & go back to 2 strokes?

@Jamie Lee Can you imagine playing a video game of supercross without Ralh announcing it? THIS is what we got use to and for some even grew up with.. I had NO problem ever with Jeff being the host with Ralph.. Without Jeff, at least we still had Ralph.. But last week was terrible.. RC should be down on the track listening to his words of wisdom and ADDING to the discussion, not taking the place of the announcers.. That's my opinion.. No sense in changing something that wasn't broken and people were really really use to.. Without Ralph, is like wrestling with it's characters changed.. Nothing but bad decisions...
Interviewer please stop finishing their sentences, please stop interrupting their answers, and let the two legends talk and tell their stories.

You are overthinking it I feel like. The interviewer is just taking control of his show. The fact that those two super legends are even speaking with him means they respect him. To get rc and chad Reed in the same room for this kinda deep very interesting interview is special in my opinion. Sorry man i just dont see him doing much of what your talking about

That question is a great representation of what most media (and too many people nowdays) think about real men, real women, there ain't that many beef between Alphas, it's just people fighting. It's called being adults, being responsible because you don't blame others for your loss and failure, that's why there weren't that many beef, people were most responsible and courageous a few years ago, no wonder why most GOATs are born before the 2000s, way more before the 90s.

We need to have GOAT championship race. McGrath, Carmichael, Reed, etc from the 1990s & 2000s.
Reed always talks about respect when it comes to him and RC as if he is low key blaming JS for their beef. The reality is that Reed was okay with losing to RC and thought he would be next in line to be #1. When JS took that from him he couldn’t handle it, frustration built up and the cheap shots followed. Maybe one day he will own up to it... seems like he’s showing JS more and more respect as time goes on.
Watch the whole interview, if was a different thing all together. JS did things that were full blown wreckless and some worked and some didn’t. They didn’t like pulling up to a track and having to try to quad something they weren’t comfortable with because they were going for championships and trying to make a living. Murdering yourself doing huge jumps limits those things substantially. They didn’t like racing stewart because of that, because they knew they could outrun him everywhere else.
@@saab9251 sorry but I think you got it all wrong. Reeds hate for Stewart started outdoors where there weren’t any crazy jumps. Stewart was faster everywhere not just on the jumps. Riders didn’t like racing him because he rode on the edge the whole race and they wanted to back it off. His crazy jumps weren’t usually copied by the other riders either but I’m sure they heard “if he can do it why can’t you” enough times in the trailer to piss them off though.

There will never be a time in supercross or motocross as fun and interesting as it was when these guys and the other guys racing them at that time on 2 strokes. From Marty Smith until these guys retired was the best this sport has ever been and every will be. Motocross and Supercross today is spam. Who likes spam? I don't. You think it's spam now just wait until it turns into electric bikes. It will go from spam to a dead sport.
It’s a triple not a quad haha. Ricky very serious on a table being one jump because all these guys claiming quads now have tables in them and aren’t true quads. Love it 😂

Scootercross66 their counting all landings. Backside of takeoff, top of table and downside of table. Downside of landing.
I remember Chad and James had a few races were things had friction on the race track. I don't remember Ricky having fueds with other riders. Remember all these guys were on Susuki at one time in there careers.

I don't think I'll ever understand what these guys are talking about when talking about Chassis, motor and suspension feel. I'm getting the suspension stuff slowly. Good to see Reed stepping away from the sport safely and the guy rode all major brands...kinda cool.
the gift of the feel not many have it. i do have the gift and know many fast riders that can't setup a bike. spending money on suspension job is kinda better than stock but kinda worthless if u can not adjust it right.
@@mightystreaming933 no doubt suspension adjusting affects the chassis but I am referring to the chassis tuning alone. That, I don't think I'll ever have the feel for. The effects of different engine mounts and hangers, triple clamp & bar flex etc. That stuff is over my head.

(( I am a Chad Reed fan in the sense as to what he has done for the sport. And if he won a main I would be going ape shit like so many others would be this late into the game. Even if it is a mud race. 😊 The stadium would go crazy.. BUT with that said. Chad was there in the mix and RODE with legends. James Stewart, RC, RV. Dungey And now Eli Tomac.. He was fast enough to push a legend and consistency that makes it hard for a legend to mess up. ALWAYS being second or on the podium didn't give Stewart or others much room for messing up. But he was rarely the fastest person there all and all season after season. New legends came along. Not to take away from Reed, great for the sport for entertainment. But not fast enough to beat them straight up without having to try to take them out and he knew that. If JS wasn't taking himself out, Reed knew he would have to. That's what I'm saying.

For who didnt get to witness these two battle sucks different type of racing back then when 2 strokes dominated and then 450s came along now days had some good guys but nobody battling with these guys then when Stewart came along it was a 3 way battle. Good old days

It’s sad that we don’t see more of JS7. Hopefully in the near future we’ll see him in around the moto world more as he learns to leave the last in the past, and only think of the good times in the last. If he can.

Chad is really cool. Great guy. Really fast guy. The bottom line is Chad was never as fast as RC. Chad was not even close to RC's speed on any track.
Nobody was honestly. Stewart could challenge him here and there but the stars had to align just right to keep him from crashing. I feel like he rode outside his comfort zone like all the time. Which is sick and it’s gnarly until it goes wrong lol.
I always tell it to my friends like this:
James was the fastest but he was plagued with inconsistency.
Chad was the most consistent but he didn’t always have the pace.
And Ricky was the greatest of all time.
