Very good info on how to do the rear springs. Saved a lot of headache!!!
Thank you man that’s what I am to do 😁❤️
That's got to be the best install video yet. I'm going to be installing mine in a few weeks and you just made my task sooo much easier. Thanks brother!!
Love reading comments like this! The whole reason I make these videos is to help others install their parts so they can save more money for car parts 😅😁
Ive been watching you since you started the explorer. I went with the Platinum with the 3.0l because it was 8k cheeper. Plus it will end up being more of a little sleeper. 😉
I went with lethal performance lowering springs. I haven't lowed a vehicle since my 20s 😅. I've raised a few trucks.
Lowering the Explorer just feels right not just for racing but I'm now in my mid 50s and have no desire to clean up a truck after a day of mudding. 😰
I absolutely hate any roll in any vehicle. Well I lied I did lower my 2018 Chrysler 300 so there would be no roll and it was point and it would turn on a dime bro. But now it is 800hp with a th400 track only car. Well it is being upgraded for next season.
Long comment to tell you thank you for this one. I could have used that trick for the reara on my 300. Good lawd what a pain.
Next year all of my vehicles will be in the 500+ horsepower. 2015 BMW 550i 535hp, 2018 Chrysler 300 800hp, 2020 Explorer Platinum 500 very soon. Until I get all of the mods installed I'm running the JB4 on a E30 tune. Wow these things can make some power. I can't wait to take it to the track.
Filming is a pain so big time props. ❤❤❤
I’m ordering my tools that I don’t have for this install! Wish me luck and if I can’t handle it I’m scheduling that 10th install! You are a blessing to the ST community heart❤
You got this! 💪 and thank you! I love reading comments like this, really makes my day ❤️
I almost gave up on life with the rear. I forgot to take off the shocks….. Took me a hour to figure it out after prying the spring out then my buddy said take off the shock! I did a test drive but I might have a spring popping feeling in the driver front. Thanks again for the videos! 🫡
Finally!!
You finally going to put yours on?
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks maybe in the spring when it warms up. they look great on the floor of the spare bedroom
@KenKyleRacing guess I’ll have to come out and install them for you 🤣
🤯🤯🤯 Do you know how much time you just saved us with this??? Dude - you’re the MAN!
So glad I could help out 😁 crazy the book calls for 7/8 hours and you can do them in 2/3 hours lol
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks - the real question is… do I tell Michael about this video, or nah? LOL
@WhizzyWhig oh he knows how long it takes lmao, shops will still charge book price unfortunately. And he has no say in what the shop charges😅
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks - I don’t mind paying for experience and a passion for the platform, fortunately 😉
I only charge $400 to install springs 😁 no overhead I work out of my driveway lol. But you will need an alignment after 😅
love your videos! you helped me with front and rear sway bar installs. ad now i'm taking the next steps. H&R springs are on their way! even the oil change video was super helpful as i now its a simple task, but its good to see for someone who isn't a mechanic by trade.. I am ready to tackle the lowering springs, and i'm doing PIU shocks and struts at the same time. my question is why is it so difficult to get the rear springs out? wouldn't it be easier to use the spring compressors to pop them out? taking all whose sub frame bolts out makes me nervous.. :)
Most spring compressors wouldn’t fit in there to compress them and get them out. Dropping the subframe is hands down the easiest thing to do. In fact it’s so quick I have narrowed doing springs on these cars down to an hour front and back 😁 and thank you for watching my videos I’m so glad they are helpful 🙏
The easiest 4 spring install I’ve done. Thanks brother for a very informative video the took me only 3 hours and saved me $500 plus. You the MAN…. Thanks 🙏
Super happy my video was helpful and saved you money! More money for more mods 😂
@HoustonSpeedFreaks hey bud have you had any issues with the alignment to spec? I saw on some forums that some ppl can't get the camber in spec.
@@ja-makin-me-fit7335 front and alignment this weekend. I’ll give you an update afterwards.
@@ja-makin-me-fit7335 Had the alignment done last weekend. Had NO issues. The front was done with ease. Because I moved the subframe when doing the rear spring, it required a little more adjustment. All in all it was s done in 1 hour with NO issues with the camber. Maybe the people that had issues didn’t install correctly.
@Caboboy007 thanks brotha. I had mind done last weekend as well and the got it done all in the green but it was a $320 alignment. I'm running the Eibach lowering springs. Thanks again for the update.
Hey bud, Im getting the Eibach springs installed soon. But i am reading on different forms dated back to 2020 about shops not being able to align after springs installed. Have you had this issue? And if so what did you do to bring it back into spec.
What torque specs are all the bolts? I decided to give it a shot myself next weekend. Love your videos man!
Thank you brother! For the subframe I’m not sure can’t even get the specs from ford I just give them some Ugga duggas and haven’t had any issues yet 😁
Would have been cool if you showed a side-by-side, so you can see the difference in height. Still awesome vid
I saw in one of your vids talking about doing install service yo help us ST folks out. What do you charge yo install, springs, intercooler, downpipes and exhaust? What is your price to do each one? I would like to have someone EXPIERENCED in the Explorer ST. Not all shops are experienced in the ST Explorer but charge an arm and a leg and would most likely cost me an extra hour or two or three because of the lack of experience and need the extra time to "figure it out"...So you seem to know what the hell your doing and have done it dozens of times. I would trust you over any of those shops. Anyways, 1st thing is intercooler, and replace the plumbing hot and cold side and a good intake, maybe the fenfab intake kit with bov and all the plumbing to free up flow to and from intercooler. I'm old skool carburetor guy growing up in the 80's and this my 1st modern tuner. My wife says it's my midlife crisis lol..anyways, your charge to start with intercooler install charge cost and all the plumbing to and from intercooler, turbos. I'm thinking of using the fenfab high flow intake kit with BOV. I want allthe plumbing from intake filter to the exhaust tips replaced. 3" tubing all the way through with a big intercooler. Cost and time to do it all??
Hey man hope you’re doing well, shoot me an email at HoustonSpeedFreaks@gmail.com
Or give me a call my contact info is on my website houstonspeedfreaks.com I’d be more than happy to get you a quote on installs 😁
Hey buddy I’m installing H&R springs & was putting the tools together. Question:
Are you using a 3/8 drive pass-thru with a 13/16 socket when removing the shocks spring hat nut? I have that setup, BUT the 10mm socket I have won’t fit thru the pass-thru. Is there a 10mm thin wall that I need to buy or am I missing something.
Thanks 🙏 in advance.
Hey man, yeah I use a long reach 10mm or if you go down to a 1/4 10mm it should be skinny enough to fit and then you can use and adapter to a 3/8 wrench to get better leverage
The factory ones were leaning also…re watch your vid..
If I am replacing the struts as well as the springs and the sway bar at the same time, maybe I should just use the "normal" way right? Just un-bolt the lower control arm from the knuckle replace spring, bolt, sway bar, re-install?
I’m replacing shocks as well. Did you end up doing it like you said?
Just do it this way just one extra step of unbolting the shock.
Got any links for the sockets/ pass through wrench’s needed?
You can get them at most auto parts stores, just call and ask if they have them in stock.
That's what I did.
I picked them up from either autozone or harbor freight😁
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks
Probably advance auto parts as they carry it.
I called them all including harbour freight.
I got mine from advance auto parts.
But I'm sure others also carry them but just didn't have them in stock the day I got mine,so could of been autozone.
Do you recall what size that passthrough socket was? Metric I presume.
Yes I mentioned in the video it’s a 13/16th and 10mm on the middle to hold it 😁
Hear me out for a second: what if you turned the wheels, applied the spring compressors to the spring, went up top and removed the strut nut, THEN lifted the car, removed the wheel, and then removing the strut? In my mind, it prevents you from having to fight it, or put it in a vice, and the spring is already compressed from being on the ground. Thoughts?
It could work but it’s not bad the way I do it and way quicker than trying to fish up in there to put the spring compressors with the wheel being turned lol
Did they have any issue getting the camber right while doing the alignment after the spring install?
No sir not with any of the brands of lowering springs I’ve installed on any st have they had issues getting the rear camber right.
I haven’t taken it for alignment yet. Seen several people in forums saying camber is an issue after lowering springs are installed. I installed the H&R springs
Installed eibach springs. Think I have a click clack when I brake coming from front. Everything is tight doubled checked. Anything I might have missed.
Sounds like a top hat in my opinion I’d make sure they are tight.
Did you figure out if it was the top rubber piece?
Yea I believe it was that top hat bolt
Im in NYS du you do installation?
Yes sir I do installations but I’m located in Houston Tx 😁
Should I remove my Steeda Rear Diff brace as well?
No sir no need to remove your diff brace as your lowering the whole subframe and diff brace just holds the diff in the subframe
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks
Just remove the portion that's bolted to the frame, that's in the way.
Don’t even need to do that honestly the whole subframe holds the diff in place. So removing it or keeping the diff brace on wouldn’t make a difference
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks
Well it's bolted to the area you placed the jack so that it would be centered in order to raise the whole rear end.
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks
Well it bolts to the area where you placed the jack.
Why not just use spring compressors on the rear springs? It would save all the hastle of dealing with all the rear subframe bolts and splash shields and exhaust. Not trying to be negative, just curious.
Trust me I’ve tried, but you’ll hit the frame and or the lower control arm that holds the spring will be in the way.
It's called "lots of experience and wisdom". I've watch a ton of his videos and he has tried and experimented with different ways. He's a mad scientist Dr Frankenstein of Explorer ST! Trust his way, he knows better than most speed shops. Speed shops work on everything daily and by the time they get to work on another Explorer ST , they have already forgot half of what they hand to figure out. This guy does it DAILY to the SAME car and just gets better and better at it. Its what we call experience and wisdom. He is VERY GOOD at what he does. Trust him.
Oh boy, this is an easy how to video lol
Hopefully easy enough for you to use 😘
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks 💯. I used this yesterday...will definately give a shout out to you for this in the video.
@SouthdownGarage can’t wait to watch it man!
Haven't made it to the end but Definitely upside down. IMO. You see the oem spring do exactly what the h&r did when upright. It leaned. I know nothing...
If I drive down there, would you install mine?? 🤔 😅
Absolutely I’m down 💪😁
Вы американцы, так долго говорите. Коротко то не показать , заменил 4 пружины. И у тебя на заднем редукторе 1 крепёжный болт. Смотри чтоб редуктор не вылетел.
Hey friend I talk a lot as I try and give as much information as possible. And this is a customers car so all I can do is recommend he gets a differential brace 😁
