  • This training is led by Professor Susan Young, an internationally recognized expert in the field and author of the ADHD Child Evaluation [ACE] and ACE+V.2 for young people (sixth form and college/uni education) and adults. This event offers a comprehensive half-day demonstration where participants observe a recorded interview showcasing the effective utilisation of the second version of ACE+V.2v.2 assessment tool. In this training Susan demonstrates how she interviews using the ACE+V.2v.2 in an adult male. It is not a lecture on ADHD and the course does not include training in the ACE assessment for children.
ACE+V.2v.2 is a semi-structured diagnostic interview used to assess ADHD in young people and adults. Susan demonstrates how she uses this diagnostic interview to assess for ADHD in an adult male. The ACE+V.2v.2 has been updated to fall in line with the ICD-11 and small tweaks from DSM-5-TR. The SASC guidance strongly recommends that this diagnostic interview data is collected alongside an assessment report to make an onward referral to a clinical expert.
    Course Description
Increasingly, specialist teachers who assess for dyslexia, and SENCOs are being asked to identify ADHD. The primary sources of data to diagnose ADHD are based on interviews, observations, and by establishing a history of difficulties. ACE+V.2v.2 is a semi-structured clinical diagnostic interview that can be used to help identify ADHD. The ACE+V.2V.2 interview assesses the core symptoms of ADHD in adulthood and the extent to which they impair functioning. Additionally, the interview prompts the assessor to consider the presence of alternative and/or co-existing conditions. The ACE interviews include algorithms for the practitioner to select either DSM-5-TR or ICD-11 criteria. The training has an interactive focus and will include an introduction to ACE+V.2, an overview of the content and video presentations of the interviews conducted by Susan. This enables SENCO’s, specialists working in FE and Universities as well as Assessors to evaluate how they may collect evidence to help establish if ADHD is a feature of the student’s profile.
In the course delegates will consider in detail:
Identifying ADHD in young people (sixth form and college/uni education) and adults (either for diagnostic purpose or for onward referral to a qualified clinician)
Recognising that comorbidities may exist in addition to ADHD
Recognising that other factors may be the reason for the person’s hyperactive/impulsive or inattentive behaviour
Using the ACE+V.2 interview as part of a diagnostic picture to inform a clinical decision - which may mean referring to a clinical practitioner
