- Hello there, I hope you're doing well! Here's a little vlog of a few (semi) productive days in my life as a Religious Studies PhD student. It's the third week of my Winter semester, and already I've got so much to do! In this video, I'm working on submitting an abstract for a witchcraft conference (!) and trying to get all my readings done for my classes, including an English/Film Studies course. With classes still online, I like making (and watching!) these grad studies vlogs, as they help me feel a little less isolated during these strange times!
Hope you enjoy the video, and thanks for watching! If you're also a student, I'd love to know what you're studying! :)

It's really interesting to hear little chunks of knowledge about your classes! Philosophy and religion is so interesting✨
Masters Student in religious studies, starting my PhD next year! Hope your PhD journey is going well!
i'm so happy your videos showed up on my feed! loving your content & feeling very aligned to it all :) I'm not in a grad program, but i work a full time desk job (that i love), aiming to be more plant-based with my diet, and filling my free time with online herbalism, horticulture, & witchcraft courses and lots of reading/studying. thank you for making the videos that you make!
Aw thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Ooooh that avocado toast looked amazing! Also I love hearing about readings and conferences. It's always interesting to hear about other peoples' research even though it's in totally different fields.
It was pretty delicious toast haha. And me too! I really enjoy hearing about others’ research as well. It’s cool to hear about what’s going on in other fields, especially since I’m the university context it’s pretty easy to get kind of isolated in your own discipline!
I have never heard the term Post-Humanism before, but it sounds really interesting! Thanks for the explanation, I'm excited to learn more!
I actually cut out a lot of me rambling on about it haha. It’s a really interesting philosophy for sure! 😊
Just finding your channel and I'm feeling very "seen". Just graduated with my DNP as a nurse practitioner. Also a nature based pagan and skeptical witch. I've thoroughly enjoyed the few videos Ive seen and look forward to further learning from and enjoying your content. Best of luck in your studies!
Congratulations on graduating recently, that's fantastic! And thank you very much, best of luck to you as well as you embark more fully into your career!
7 hours of Zoom?! 😨
I like listening about the books you're reading.
Also Freya looks so cute!
Thanks! I’m never sure if that kind of thing will be interesting or not haha. And yeah Wednesdays are rough!
starting a phd in religion in the fall!
Fantastic, good luck! What area of research are you interested in? :)
Hi! Can you share which conference this was? I'd like to attend in the future :)
What is the conference you went to? Because what they talk about is EXACTLY my focus and I'd love to attend if they ever do it again.
The witchcraft conference? It actually hasn’t happened yet! It’s the Queen’s University Witch Institute conference. They’re releasing the program in early May I think, and you can sign up to attend discussions and workshops (it’s all online). I’ll be sharing more information when they release it on Instagram, since I’m fairly sure it’s open to the public to attend!
@@theskepticalwitch6611 that's amazing! Thank you! I'm studying colonial witchcraft.
Oh nice that’s really cool! Well I’m sure you’ll have some really interesting stuff to contribute to the discussions :)
What career opportunities are theology or religious studies majors having. Besides being a chaplain.
My hope is to stay in academics, but there are plenty of career options for religious studies and other social sciences. Working for non-profits, in a museum, or as a diversity coordinator are some examples
Thank you for sharing your day! I start my doctoral program in August. What program are you using to annotate PDFs on your iPad? Would love to get it, LOL!
Oh nice that’s exciting! What’s your program in? I use GoodNotes! It’s so helpful-definitely one of my favourite apps for school work!
@@theskepticalwitch6611 Thanks for the recommendation!!! I am starting my Doctor of Ministry ❤️
I am studying religious studies in college I want to know what do religious studies majors learn
It depends on the program, but there’s so much to be learned in religious studies! Generally you’ll take a few classes that look at religion more broadly, like world religions, and you’ll also be able to take courses in more specific areas that are of particular interest to you. Best of luck as you pursue this degree! 😊
Good luck with PhD. I have PhD from criminal law and after studies I am not at university and don't teach. So very useful 😉🤣
Haha aw, well hopefully doing the PhD was worth it in itself! And at least now you can call yourself a Doctor, which is pretty fantastic! And thanks 😊
@@theskepticalwitch6611 yes but you need to earn money, so it is very nice to be doctor PhD, iuris doctor JUDr. and second university as Ing. but when you can't use it in reality, it is very bad...
@@M-Y-S-L-I-M-E That’s fair. I’ve had profs that have discouraged us from getting PhDs because the job market is so slim in academia. It’s definitely unfortunate.
