This trilogy really made me dislike DC, from denying stipe the immediate rematch to acting like the only reason he lost the 3rd was an eyepoke but never mentioned the billion times he eyepoked stipe during the trilogy

Stipe got the rematch . Every time he lost a belt his next fight was for the belt. Dc fought someone in between when he was 40 meanwhile when Francis lost to stipe he had to knock out 5 guys in a row to get a rematch and stipe wasn't keen on the rematch

I miss seeing Stipe in the ring. Sad we lost out on any new fights the last few years with him. Definitely an underrated fighter, he had great ring awareness and adaptability. Plenty of power, even on the back foot. I believe Stipe would not have lost to Cormier if not for that brutal eye poke that left him effectively fighting with 1 eye. But being the warrior he is, he barely even mentioned it, didn't whine, just got back to training, came back and took the belt back. Epic. Love the way Stipe handles himself. You don't see much of that these days.

This is why Stipe is the perfect final recital, to Jon Jones' legacy. There is hardly anyone that makes sense. Aspinall, anyone else like Pereira, even Blachowicz. Are from a newer time, or aren't even connected to Jon's most active time. This is why Stipe makes sense, Stipe is from that time, Stipe has beaten DC, Stipe's has ties to that time ago.
For Jon Jones to fight Aspinall, it's like your older grandfather not knowing how to use a phone and opting for the newspaper instead. The grandfather is from a different time and interacts with things from that time, anything not from that time will simply add confusion, and unnecessary complication. The grandfather is Jon jones, and the phone is Tom Aspinall. You're not going to give your phone to grandpa, you're going to keep your phone, and offer the home phone, and or get the newspaper. Because you understand grandpa is content with just picking the newspaper, so you should be happy too, because it's the simple things in life. Like not taking matchups seriously.

It’s a shame dc couldn’t wrestle as heavy as he used to in his 40s his back was so bad he couldn’t consistently shoot on stipe he had his one high crotch and never attempted a takedown again from my memory. Still walked stipe down like a fucking tank until he got finished which is so crazy. Dc if he was a few years younger beats stipe 8/10 times imo. On another note as long as stipe doesn’t somehow get 1 shot or taken down and mauled by jones he has a chance to finish Jon that stipe boxing is serious and if gus and Reyes could box u up, the last thing to go at heavyweight is power and stipe definitely still has 1 shot power and crisp boxing.

Probably because Stipe grabbed his leg. Same thing happened when Bob Sapp tried to slam Big Nog for the second time. Nogueira grabbed his leg to avoid being separated from Sapp' body, that's why the slam wasn't as powerful as the first one when Bob's hips where far away.

    Daniel Cormier is no slouch.
He was best at his time in countless organizations as heavyweight.
Stipe makes mistakes as he relies at blocking punches with his granit chin.
Put that point on chin we all have hit with right power and angle ends every one.
That said expext war against Jones both will be hurt bur Stipe surely is harder strikers, dictates pace at will when in mode.
If we see same version or better of Stipe vs Francis 1 Jones will be over.
Jones woukd be sleeping after taking Francise's power punches.
Stipe took them and demaged the Hype train.
Everyone can say whatever and say Francis didn't have no ground game, to bad he knew its MMA and trained it.
    Launched Alistair into orbit...
Stipe is legend as even immediately aksing for rematch(3rd) fight.
Supposedly Grancis was to greedy and to skme its all about money not legacy.
Stipe if retires can look back and said he was rhe best Heavwy weight with most title defenses in UFC history as of still.
