To those asking about pacman frogs eating mice. I made the mistake of feeding my adult pacman a mouse once a week to twice a week. I made it his staple, which led to him developing a disorder which shortened his tongue, making it difficult for him to eat. A great staple is feeder fish.
I had 3 Pacman frogs years ago and they used to eat pinkies once in a while and they were ok. I’ve never heard of it causing problems with their tongues. What happened?
me:spends well over 2 hours decorating with live plants, bio active etc. This lady:SLAPS a bowl and cork in(yes ,I know this is the BASIC needs and set up for new keepers, just making a joke lol)
You can also get a Zoo med Repti Fogger for humidity I used a pair of cutting sheers and made it where the tube fits snug in top my 25 gallon long tank works great
Hi Jen and LLL Reptile, thank you for the excellent video. The Cranwell's horned frog, in comparison with an ornate horned frog, actually has a slightly more pronounced horn projections.
Great video I do like my terrariums looking a bit more natural though the half log and the bush look very un natural but that’s just my opinion but yeah thanks for the vud
change it when ur suppose to... usually every 3wks sometimes if tempt nd the moisture is good u can go for a full month..I had this problem once, i forget to write down when i did the tank and got my weeks messed up and i had to much moisture in the tank .. i caught it right when it started .. cleaned it and everything was better...
Hi Jen i was wondering if i should get a pacman frog as a starter frog? im only 12 but i have a bearded dragon and a corn snake already so im not sure.
OK, one more thing, i want to get into reptiles and things like frogs, what would you recommend that is not too expensive, easy to care and doesn't need lots of heat or specialist keeping requirements, cheers
First off let me start by saying that I love ALL of the videos on this channel! So informative and it's good to know that there is a pet "retail" store that is knowledgeable AND trustworthy. Now I do have a question; I'm viewing options for obtaining my first pet frog/toad and I'm considering a fire bellied toad. Seeing as to how you currently don't have a "how to set up" video for fire bellies, I was wondering if a set up similar to this one for a Pacman was suitable for a fire belly. I was considering a really nice, more terrestrial setup like this one, with a large water bowl for them to soak in but I'm not sure if this is suitable/appropriate. Thanks in advance!
I would say it is similar except pacmans don't need a big space at all. Fire Belly Toads like to move around a bit more. Moss, hiding spots, nice decor for fire bellies. You can find a ton of killer decor at at our website :)
Well I saw is and thought I'd help you out with it. Fist they like a lot of friends, the more the better in my experience. They also like a lot of water and swimming space, and still a large area of dry land to wander around on. If you have 4, 1 hide is probably what what you'd want after they are used to you. But when they are used to it 1 hide is OK as they are surprisingly active and don't really hide. I have a video on my own setup if you would check it out, I'd appreciate also if you want an idea of how to spoil your pets lol. It looks a lot better that it is in the video but I'll be doing a updated video tomorrow as I'm getting 2 new toads! That was a lot of writing... sorry
Hey do you still have the pacman frog? I just got mine yesterday and would like to know if they get big or how did you feed them in the first days. Mine didnt seem to eat and I'm wondering if it may be because of stress. I checked today and noticed that it had ate it but spit it out. Could it be because of stress?
my pacman buried herself completely after a bath and a tank cleaning, she hasnt came out to eat but if we talk loud she starts barking back,,lol like she wants to join in but anyways the humidity is not seeming to stay where it normally stays tempt drops. i dont feel good about doing a heating pad on the bottom Would i hurt on the side. she like to burrow down to the glass in the tank this is the reason but this is the 1st time shes completely covered herself. need help... thanks!
I just got a baby pacman frog so the pet store I went to, so they put there own substrate in it and it was gravel should I change to Eco earth or is it good
As long as the temp and humidity are fine.... is lighting a big deal? Would it be alright if the lighting is somewhat dim? I know other sources say to specifically use UVB lighting
Do you need a false bottom (1 bag hydroballs, egg create)? Can you use Jungle Mix, Eco Earth and worm castings for the substrate ( 2 parts Jungle Mix, 2 parts Eco Earth, 4 parts worm castings)? Can you add isopods and springtails? Would a 20 gallon long aquarium be too large for a pac-man frog? I'm looking for books to read about pac-man frogs.
Spot clean at least once a week, and I would swap out all of the bedding at least once a month, more often if it smells foul (which can happen if it is kept too swampy).
Loved the video you guys did a great job. What are those cages called (the one in the video) where you just slide in the lid I've been looking for one like that
+A&O Reptiles We sell them, but can't ship them unfortunately. They are just standard tanks that we buy from a local manufacturer who makes them like that.
I have 3 colorado river toads ranging in sizes largest being about 7-8 inches from snout to vent. I have been thinking about switching substrate to sand as it would be more natural for them but get different opinions on the impaction risk. They are on eco earth and seems ok but i dislike how it sticks to them and fouls their water dish. what do you think? thanks
I am getting 2 red eyes tree frogs as well as a Mississippi map,I have 2 years of RES experience, I wanted to know what would be a good reptile after of which I get the three
a little over a week ago my pacman started acting off. Less active than usual, eyes not popping out, etc. after like 6 days it had a large poo so I thought maybe he was constipated. but he still isn't active (I know, they aren't active, but he is less active than normal) and eyes still closed/sunken. Any idea what's up?
Dont put it under for burrowing species you can cook them. Put it on the side of the tank. I have hermit crabs who burrow as well and even for them they say never to do that.
Susan Hafer On a budget? About 20-60 bucks to start depending on how fancy you get: Sterilite tub, eco earth, water dish, feeder price varies, frog price varies.
Before this, I had always heard that UTH were not recommended for these guys because some had allegedly burned themselves on the bottom of the tank. Have you ever heard of this? I trust you, just curious because it would make things SO much easier if I could use a mat.
I have a leopard gecko, but no frogs. Would this be a good starter frog? because im interested in getting one, and how often do you switch the moss and substrate? thanks
They are easy enough to be a good starter frog, but you can't really hold them. White's tree frogs are also good beginner frogs. Switch out the moss and substrate at least every month, if not more often.
Was it in celsius or fahrenheit. If it was in celsius it should be at 25 degrees but if it was fahrenheit probably use a heat pad. Make sure the heat pad doesn’t overheat. My snake burnt her belly on a heat pad because it was underneath glass. If it is plastic glass I think you would be safe. Sorry for all that information
I just got my baby Pac-Man today, and I have obviously done the research for him, and my local pet stores sells them in the tanks with a bit of gravel and a low water level. Should I switch him to a proper substrate or leave him in an aquatic one?
You guys got me started on liking pacman frogs and now I'm asking my mom for one thanks for this video
Same here
Be careful. They're aggressive!!!
One bit my friends finger half almost off
@@lukas_kun5273 probably wired up the food sensors wrong when you were setting it up. Happens all the time.
Ya I also like getting barked at and getting bit lol
You guys brought it today at the Reptile Breeders show, fantastic selection and incredible prices. LLL REPTILES ROCKS!!
ran out of pinkies, should I move on to thumbs and forefingers?
LOL
Ha lol
LoL 😝
he need some milk
ian redgate that was amazing 👌

They can have mice every 2 to 3 weeks. Because they are fatty, if u feed ur frog nothing but mice, it will make them fat & develope disorders.
This has to be just about the only informative vid on yt for pacmans. Cheers !
me:spends well over 2 hours decorating with live plants, bio active etc. This lady:SLAPS a bowl and cork in(yes ,I know this is the BASIC needs and set up for new keepers, just making a joke lol)
I’m sure your enclosure is much better!
But if you put a heat pad under the tank you might burn your frog due to them burring into the soil,I'd place it on the side of tank.
You can also get a Zoo med Repti Fogger for humidity I used a pair of cutting sheers and made it where the tube fits snug in top my 25 gallon long tank works great
Excellent how-to!! You guys are awesome, thank you!
Hi Jen and LLL Reptile, thank you for the excellent video. The Cranwell's horned frog, in comparison with an ornate horned frog, actually has a slightly more pronounced horn projections.
When are you going to do a live stream video chat cause I have questions about frogs
I have two Pac-Man frogs I’ve had for years i might be able to help 😊

Hi Jen i was wondering if i should get a pacman frog as a starter frog? im only 12 but i have a bearded dragon and a corn snake already so im not sure.
Organic compost will do just fine and a 30 gallon tank like they have is a good size they have a good setup
OK, one more thing, i want to get into reptiles and things like frogs, what would you recommend that is not too expensive, easy to care and doesn't need lots of heat or specialist keeping requirements, cheers
you guys make really help full and educational videos thanks for the help

Deh_Nandie oh, and fire bellies aren't as prone to destroying are amazing vivariums. Like pa mans tend to do. They just dig it all up lol.
***** Thank you, I'm looking forward to visiting one of your stores really soon!
Deh_Nandie Thanks for the advice, I was considering getting 2 or 3 :)
Who watching in 2019!?
@Dom The Bomb’s aquariums yessir
Dom The Bomb’s aquariums you already know
cOroNa..
Some people put the heat pad on the side of the tank where the cold water doesn't get to it and it still keeps the cage at the correct temp
Awesome video! Just got mine today!

Mine didnt seem to eat and I'm wondering if it may be because of stress. I checked today and noticed that it had ate it but spit it out. Could it be because of stress?
Does pouring water directly into the tank and letting it pool at the bottom cause mold/mildew issues?
I gut load my crickets with a green jel. It really made my frog grow very fast.
do pacman frogs need UVA lighting? im using it now plz tell me if its good to or if i shouldnt.
***** okay thanks so much
I can't because mine is albino.
no turdy
it's fall in southern California 2015 and the tempature is around90s
Are they good to handle or ate they more just to look cool? Which they do
my pacman buried herself completely after a bath and a tank cleaning, she hasnt came out to eat but if we talk loud she starts barking back,,lol like she wants to join in but anyways the humidity is not seeming to stay where it normally stays tempt drops. i dont feel good about doing a heating pad on the bottom Would i hurt on the side. she like to burrow down to the glass in the tank this is the reason but this is the 1st time shes completely covered herself. need help... thanks!

As long as the temp and humidity are fine.... is lighting a big deal? Would it be alright if the lighting is somewhat dim? I know other sources say to specifically use UVB lighting
It does help them metabolize D3 and calcium properly when they are exposed to UVB regularly.
Can you put an egg crate false bottom in the tank and put live plants in pots so you can remove to water?
Great video,enjoyed watching .
No false bottom, you aren’t using that much water. You don’t want the dirt soaking wet. Just damp not drenched.
I just ordered the zoomed pacman kit. how long should it be until the substrate be changed and the furnishings be cleaned?
Spot clean at least once a week, and I would swap out all of the bedding at least once a month, more often if it smells foul (which can happen if it is kept too swampy).
wouldnt that heat paid crack the tank since it's water under it?
I find these videos quite helpful
Is it legal to get slash keep pacman or the African bull frog in Australia

Can u put the ornate and a green pac mans in the same cage
My pacman doesn't like to eat when i try and feed him, do think its a problem?
Than,,if i need UVB lamp or heat pad for them? What is better?

My house is at about 76 degrees and I live in south Florida do I need additional heating
can i keep it in a plastic tub or bin, like a gecko or snake rack?
do you put the heating pad in the tank or under the tank?
Tiffany Rumbalski under
Dont put it under for burrowing species you can cook them. Put it on the side of the tank. I have hermit crabs who burrow as well and even for them they say never to do that.
makes sense, thanks
i have used the ideas u use in your video and they are all healthy
is this the biggest youd need for one pac man frog
do they need a heat pad? I am really interested in getting one from your website
what would be a safe reptile to pair with the frog, and could you put 2 pacmans together?
Nothing
No. Only put what you intend them to eat. Including other pacman
What do you thank about a false bottom?
i always calcium dust my animals foode but i really never thought in the wild how do they get their calcium?
Phoenix79 bones
How much dose it cost?
Susan Hafer $100+
Susan Hafer On a budget? About 20-60 bucks to start depending on how fancy you get: Sterilite tub, eco earth, water dish, feeder price varies, frog price varies.
Susan Hafer at my pet store the PAC-MAN frog is $15
Alex Games pet stores sell unhealthy animals...
MrCrappyUploads STFU lol they do not
Do you treat the water that is meant to be drank, or just the water you soak the brick in?
drinking water can be used
do they need or can have a small pond

also fire belly toads are nice starter "frogs".
Are there any cages for a pixie frog if so can you recommend one i should be buying a pixie from you soon thx.
yes,this is intresting...nice video.
How long do you need to refresh or say clean the tank for maintains the environment?
Small question, what if I used purified water for the dish?
Will The tank heating pad crack The glass with The water down there??
Do they need warm water? For the bedding
S&R~RAGEGAMING room temperature
i'm getting a pixie frog so what kind of setup should I do for it
This but bigger
Austin McWilliams and more water
I have a purifier, does that work?
I'm about to get a pacman frog would a live Boston fern be good for it please give me a answer!
Hello. May I know if it is natural for pacmans to sometimes not eat for a couple of days ? 2-3 days
Totally normal. We recommend feeding them only once or twice a week - they tend to overeat if you let them.
i like yalls how to care for.... videos. yall should do more! :)
Last time i had a light, it fried the baby pixie i had. It is a species thing? It said around 75 degrees in the tank. Should i just use the pad?
Was it in celsius or fahrenheit. If it was in celsius it should be at 25 degrees but if it was fahrenheit probably use a heat pad. Make sure the heat pad doesn’t overheat. My snake burnt her belly on a heat pad because it was underneath glass. If it is plastic glass I think you would be safe. Sorry for all that information
I just got my baby Pac-Man today, and I have obviously done the research for him, and my local pet stores sells them in the tanks with a bit of gravel and a low water level. Should I switch him to a proper substrate or leave him in an aquatic one?
Miles Bryant proper substrate. if he pees in the water and you dont notice he could get sick and if thats all he has then theres that risk
hed probably also feel safer in substrate bc they burrow
That’s pretty sad that a pet store isn’t housing the animal correctly!!
The way she’s setting this up is the right way!
Definitely NO GRAVEL! If the frog ingests a piece of gravel it can kill him or cause impaction which will kill him
got a question about the uth some ppl say to put it on the side vs the bottom due to it can burn the frog when she/he burrows what do you suggest?
Carlos Enrique-torres Using a thermostat so the heat pad does not overheat solves this problem. Using it on the side is ok too though :)
So whats the current price for a starter kit and a green pacman?
can the same set up be used for a pixie frog? and what is the ideal tank size for an adult size pixie frog?
Obscene Obscurity about 50 gallons
Obscene Obscurity a 20-30g tank would be good for an adult pixie
love this shop
Would you please do a set if for a milk snake. I would really appreciate it.
I have a fantasy frog
Djdnj me to
I dont
What are the essentials for a pacman frog ?
everything she used found in the kit?
Pretty much :) Jen specifically mentions anything not found in the kit.
***** I can't tell Um is the heat pad in the kit?
Thanks Mike T
do you ship the kits to canada
so helpful thank you so much
Will a 20 gallon tank do?? I have one already.
thanks for making this video
Do they make aquatic frog setup kits because at some point I want to purchase two aquatic dwarf frogs
Do pacmans need any heating or lighting(sorry if they answered this in the video, I am commenting before I watch.)
Do you still sell this kit on your site ? I couldnt find it.
+Eli Hinds www.lllreptile.com/products/17090-zoo-med-repti-habitat-amphibian-kit
+LLLReptile and Supply Co, Inc. can an umbrella plant be put in the packmans frog cage and not hurt him
But in the summer time we have our Ac's on full blast. I always recommend one all year round
Can I use aquarium water conditioner? I have loads of fish would make it easier so I don't have to buy separate x
I've heard these can tear skin. Is that true? I was considering ordering some babies.
I think they can bite but it's only if they feel threatened but they can draw out blood
thanks for the advice i just got a pacman frog
