Climbing Capitol Peak in Colorado's Elk Mountains near Aspen

I did this climb on Labor Day weekend in 2023, summiting Colorado 14er Capitol Peak via the Capitol Creek route. I packed about four miles the day before, camped, and left for the summit around 3 a.m.
After ascending to the saddle between "K2" and 13er Daly, I slogged through talus on the back side of the mountain before reaching "K2." Then I had the the ridge to traverse over to Capitol, including the infamous knife edge.
This entire hike and climb, near Aspen, Colorado, in the Elk Mountains, is beautiful with creeks, lush greenery and turquoise high-alpine lakes. Even if you aren't up for the class 4 climb to the top, just hiking up to Capitol Lake is a breathtaking experience.
