    The elements , to be respected and awe inspiring when they put on a blow with lightning ! It IS SERIOUS and humbling ! And it's OK to be frightened . Thanks for reminding me of the discomforts of the sailing life . Don't take it personal when it kicks you in the pants !

    Hi Guys, What a great vid. I love the sailing and seascape iterations, They give such a good view of what sailing is really like. One thing that did strike me. The difference between sailing across the Atlantic now and 4 or 5 years ago. Then it seemed you had to have a big posh boat, loads a dosh and £100,000 pounds worth of navigation equipment. Now is completely different. The most important skill is having the motivation and a good sense of humour. So you too are OK then. It's so good to watch your progress and that even 'de crackers most creamy' are consumed. Good also that you talked about your Patrons.......My best, David

    • @TheSailingBrothers
      @TheSailingBrothers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks very much indeed David 😁 we always love to read your messages. It just proves sailing is not for the rich anymore, just the crazy cheese loving 🤣🤣. Technology has come a long way, apps like navionics are game changers, GPS is king. The patrons were so supportive during the crossing. We had several messages a day from them, which was fantastic👍⛵

    Boys, what time do you call this? My Sunday night was ruined because you posted later than normal! Your video is my late Sunday night treat before I go to sleep, laying in bed, watching your adventures and then sleeping peacefully with my head full of dreams of the ocean.
    Instead last night, I had to watch some bloke telling me how to cook aubergines, a women demonstrating how to put on make-up and some fella making a tea cosy out of rebar and epoxy. Subsequently, I went to sleep miserable and woke up grumpy and my students are now feeling my wrath and getting extra homework.
    I love your videos, love sharing your dreams and beg you to post at 3pm GMT (10pm Thai time) so my harmonious Sunday evenings are restored!
    Best wishes to you both. Keep sailing West. Pacific next ;-)

    Great vid guys - well done. I was a Deck Officer in the Merchant Navy back in the day and I simply loved being on the Bridge wing in mid ocean at night. It’s a shame that you can’t convey on your vids the sheer enormity of the night sky mid ocean and the ability to see the constellations without light pollution. Having said that, what a luxury I had with a personal cabin bigger than the size of Atlas in its entirety and the stability of 50,00- tonnes beneath me. I think you are having the best experiences of your lives at absolutely the right age to appreciate them.

    Love the Hats and congratulations, and we’ll done on the pancakes. I am putting 4 down as the difficulties of cooking at sea. My minimum is 15 and that’s usually because I don’t do enough batter. I have been known to have just under 30. Great innovation with the water maker, a bit cheap than an electric one. Enjoy

      30 wow that's a lot!! The water catcher is a lot cheaper than a water maker. It would be nice to have one but they use quite a lot of electric and are very bulky

    A great episode as usual guys. Re your rainwater collection; I'm sure I Saw a sailing video where they used a square of tarpaulin or canvas that had a hole with a wideish pipe in the middle that fed straight into the filler cap.

    • @TheSailingBrothers
      @TheSailingBrothers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Phed ⛵😁. We did think about ringing some sort of system up where rainwater would collect directly into the filler cap. However this is not possible due to the location of our filler cap.

    Hi Adam and Luke. Well done. Have you got radar? Do you use your radar to spot the squalls (the rain) at night? Time for a nice fresh water shower on deck! It’s a wonderful life getting so close to nature, seeing the sun rise and set every day and so many stars in the night sky.

    A different world indeed. How do you protect your boat from lighting strikes? I assume a conductor away from critical components?

    • @TheSailingBrothers
      @TheSailingBrothers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's difficult to protect your boat from lightning strikes John. You can put all your electrical items into the oven in an electrical storm to protect them. You could attach a wire from the standing rigging straight into the water

    Hmmm , just a heads up here guys , hope ya get it . I once watched a video , made during a transatlantic crossing , by the then famous Don Street , author and lifelong sailor , aboard his 44ft engineless cruising yawl , Iolaire . In that film , don made reference to a rig check he used to make . Rather comical at the time (i was only 14-15) , but he used to lie on his back , and study the rig aloft with , a pair of binoculars . Maybe something to think about eh .
    And errr , yeah , reckon you do have a bit too much time , making hats indeed ! . Lol , Fair play mate . Better time spent with the water system though , good job .
