Met some really cool people online thanks to this game. Feels so long ago now. Miss the feeling of excitement I used to get while playing BO3. Thanks for the memories.
Im just getting this game, stopped playing zombies after my best friend died, we used to play together all the time. I bought all the maps recently, from black ops 1-4 and waw. Im gonna have a fun time reminiscing and relearning how to play😊 Edit: I missed this..and I also didnt realize how far the story has come. I wish I kept playing back then in the golden age, that would have been so fun. Im glad some people still play though!
I feel you homie, me and my bestfriend played zombies all the time. So many late nights, he took his life in 2018 and I fell out of the franchise in entirety. I came back recently to reminisce and it has been bittersweet fs.
You forgot about the best part of shadows… the music. Really sets the scene. Music between rounds is great and the overall soundtrack is so good. Even the music Easter egg which is normally awful on most maps is a jam. Perfect soundtrack for a zombies map.
I remember when they released the shadows of evil trailer… opinions were mixed, some thought „Looks great“ Others thought „Looks a Little too much with this chewing gum machine“ When bo3 released I could’ve never imagined that this game will take such a great route… der eisendrache, gorod krovi, zombie chronicles,… There’s just so much stuff, that I really forgot that everything started with shadows of evil and the giant ❤️
This game has a huge online community on PC. The addition of custom maps makes this game endlessly replayable. I still get on once a month to try out the newest custom maps.
Everything about bo3 was perfect for me and my friends bro, we all got it during summer lol so many memories and laughs shared on such a great game. I still miss those days
I hate the futuristic guns so much that I can't even think of a favorite unless it's a map exclusive. The futuristic guns feel like toys and that makes them so much less satisfying to use that I usually quit out of boredom.
@@Nikketmzee all of the guns from the multiplayer launch are boring. 😴 In all the previous games I was excited to see what every gun was like pack a punched but in bo3 all the guns feel the same like there all made in the same country or something. I used to like some guns more than others just because they were cool and satisfying to use but in bo3 I just use the best guns I can get. For me that makes it less replayable because if my guns aren't going to be different every game then what is. You used to be able to just switch out your gun and the gameplay would feel a little more fresh.
Best GAME ever, bo3 zombies is a masterpiece, nothing like that will ever happen again, what a joy it is to have played it in its era! Sad that we can’t go back in time
I personally thought the revelations ending was rather nice, it explains why you can play maps over and over again because of how you get put back at the start.
It's a failure when it comes to expectations which was a sign of what was to come in the future. Everybody wanted a great war and they built up to a great war but instead everyone got a huge recycle map and to see the great war and the original staffs for 4 seconds. Then because everyone hated it they made the terrible recycle maps in bo4 and didn't let the aether story die....
@@JGr2000 That's mega cap. Not everybody has a PC like you, Chad. A alot of people still stick to console and I still find matches to this day. Even on WaW.
I still remember when bo3 first came out. I was so excited I got the special edition of the game before I even got my ps4 at the time. Once I got my console I plopped the disc in and was extremely happy with Shadows and a great remaster The Giant. During the year I watched all the zombie TH-camrs while enjoying this game alone and with friends. Until this day there has never been a game or another zombies map sadly that brought me so much joy and entertainment like how all the bo3 maps arrived for the new dlc. Then zombies chronicles hit and my gaming brain couldn’t have been more happier to play those classic maps on the new engine and with gobblegums changing the way how I play these classics every time. This zombies was the best version of zombies that no other game even came close to competing with how great this game is. I have my ps5 and downloaded this game and still to this day I play every single map get to round 30 and just enjoy the guns, the gameplay, graphics, story, boss fights and satisfying head shots. This game will always be special to me there has been no other game that gives me this feeling it sucks to say how far zombies has fallen off from grace. Without Blundell it will never have that magic that zombies had in this game. Happy gaming everyone and enjoy this masterpiece ❤️
Der Eisendrache is one of my favorite map, but I agree it's heavily inspired and like a more friendly version of Origins from the Panzer, the 4 elemental ww system, getting and upgrading the ww to start the EE. The storm bow is easily the best and easier to obtain, but the wolf bow is more fun to craft and play with IMO
You remind me of myself, Tim. BO3 came out when I was in 8th grade. It was such an enjoyable period of my life. Sadly, in 9th grade I sold my PS4 to focus on studying. Revelations had just come out, and I prioritized academia instead. All the maps were so fun, but I miss SOE and DE the most. I can remember the feeling of awe - I couldn't believe I was playing a game that looked so beautiful and glorious for its time. Watching this video revived a lot of these emotions. Thank you.
ooh my god i remember when you stayed up all night playing on ascension to get to round 100 and had to go to high school the next morning, i stayed up all night playing along with your stream and had high school in the morning as well lmao, jeez those were good times
I still play BO3 zombies quite often, getting a PC about a year ago gave me new excitement playing with higher frames and mods/custom maps BO3 is a masterpiece
I have some pretty good memories of Black Ops 3 Zombies. All the DLC maps were very solid. Even Shadows of Evil, one of the launch maps which took a bit of warming up to, once I figured it out, that map was also pretty fun. Zombies Chronicles is also a great DLC since it gave everyone the opportunity to relive the greatest maps from the old games. Kino & Moon look amazing in BO3's engine.
I hate the futuristic guns so much that I can't even think of a favorite unless it's a map exclusive. The futuristic guns feel like toys and that makes them so much less satisfying to use that I usually quit out of boredom.
@@JPH3 For me it makes enough of a difference to say that the remastered maps are strictly worse than the originals because the core gamplay of killing zombies is worse in bo3.
Bo3 zombies was so top tier the atmosphere an tone was so immersive it’s the last cod zombies I was generally invested in every cod since I haven’t really cared for the zombies or maps
Bo3 did an absolute perfect job of making you feel over powered but balanced enough where it wasn’t too boring to keep playing. With gobbles being optional and an exponential price and buy limit as well as limiting nearly all camp spots and training areas not being too open and wide was beautiful. That’s only the surface of what made it so good
God damn I loved this game, I had 100hours on zombies, hit 100 on every map, and 50 hours on multiplayer, campaign wasn’t great but I still had a ton of fun playing co op and beating on the hardest mode getting the achievements (still never got the platinum trophy, one of the hardest platinums ever) what a great game, I don’t even play zombies anymore, just didn’t enjoy it after Bo3
Can't believe you didn't mention the greatest thing about BO3 zombies that makes it the certified GOAT (only behind WAW). Mod support. An endless stream of custom zombie maps kept the game fresh and fun for YEARS.
@@mayonnaise3959 Zombies was never supposed to be in the game, of course it's not optimised, that's why the bo1 remakes improved the maps in every way (except the shi no numa rounds rip)
There is no doubt in my mind BO3 was the pinnacle of Treyarch zombies. Setting the benchmark in the zombies formula, additionally maps were sprinkled with distinct qualities and unique atmosphere. Say whatever you want about the convoluted Aether storyline, the hype peaked with the release of Chronicles

Even tho that Chronicles is the best selling DLC. Some maps didn’t need to be remastered (Nacht, Shi no Numa), some maps improved (Kino, Moon, Verrückt, Ascension), some maps got worse (Origins, Shangri-la)
I remember coming home on Friday after school and sprinting down to the basement with my brother to play shadows of evil for the first time and loving every second of it. This game was my entire childhood and I will never forget a single moment of it
You just made my day with this video. I was 15 when this came out and entering highschool and when this dropped OHHH BOY all i could think about was BO3. I also met my best friend that year too and we both had PS4 and both fucking loved zombies so for the pass 4 years we did all easter eggs and maxed all every gun in zombies. This game is the best zombie COD of all time and will stay that way forever.
I think what really pushed this game into being a master was zombies chronicles and the modding scene. Which was insane unexpected support from treyarch in terms of a cod game.
Revaltions was a dream come true. Its everything the "ending" should have been. Originality is really an argument I disagree with, Id even argue that your points on it being unoriginal is what makes it original. It makes sense with the story as Monty is holding onto reality and the cast, So their past being what makes up the map is really awesome :)
I think black ops 3s ending is much better than black ops 4 because bo3s ending was perfect to cap off the hype that black ops 3s dlc cycle created. Black ops 4 continued it after the hype died, so the ending meant little, and only brought a few tears because of nostalgia While black ops 3 had that true feeling of, "an 8 year story finally ending," I'd rather take black ops 3s ending in it's most hype moment, then black ops 4s ending in whatever status it was in. The emotion makes revelations 100x better than tag der toten.
I have so many fond memories of that summer in bo3. The zombie community was truly at its peak. Also I felt that Jason blundel and the whole zombie team really loved the community as a whole. God do I miss those days. I somewhat pray that Bo6 can reignite that love for zombies again.
I love how people hated on gobblegums on BO3 and called them "cheats" but on BO2 you could literally grab any previously stashed punched weapon from the deposits and also just quickly withdraw a quarter million points in a matter of seconds.
The memories i have of this game, man! This is the first game i got all the DLCs for. I remember 12 year old me playing splitscreen with my two friends. The day Zombies Chronicles dropped we went through every single map, checking it out.
Its really sad to know you're done with Zombies after this series, but I just wanted to take the time to say Thank you Tim, I got back into Zombies because of you, my only experiences with it before I found your channel were Nacht, Kino and Five. You finally motivated me to get into all the stuff I missed and I'm having a blast with ALL of BO3 Zombies now. Between that and playing other Treyarch COD games, I now have experienced some of my favorite maps of all time; chief among them being Buried. Whatever you decide to do in the future I'll still be along for the ride. Keep being awesome. And much like the experiments that kicked off this series...let's hope Zombies rises from the dead again someday.
@@XVSvideoz He said he's moving on from Zombies after he's done this series of going over all the history of Treyarch Zombies games, which I assume is gonna end with Cold War (Cause I would not blame him not wanting to touch Vanguard)
that last line is epic, i hope it continues. Cold War gave me some hope, it's very fun to play and i think it's enjoyable, even giving us Samantha Maxis in the story, but I can't attach myself to the characters because you can choose your operator. I miss when we were playing kino 4 player split screen at my friend's house, and whenever he would be forced to play Takeo he would restart the game and we'd all get mad. It was annoying but it shows how people felt about certain characters, nowadays it just lacks personality. If they can get that right again, it could be saved.
i’m so jealous of you, being able to play these maps for the first time and getting to know everything you have to do. This game is just special. But im also kinda sorry you weren’t here for the hype back then, it was just amazing.
margwas are one of if not the most anxiety inducing boss zombies. i remember getting the game and loading it up with friends and the collective terror when our screens were shaking. maybe its bc theyre not just bullet sponges but also you have to shoot certain mouths was certainly cool and added to that level of panic as you had to be accurate
recently been getting back in to this game with an old friend, we used to play back at launch and throughout all DLC… never completing easter eggs tho… We have just finished the dlc 2 easter egg and are completing them in order What a beautiful game this is
The non shared inventory for the worms on shadows is what really killed the experience at launch for me. I liked pubs, but when some forehead has no comprehension of "put worm on pedestal" or whatever it really kills the pace. Once it was fixed, the map really was amazing.
Currently desperately trying to get my gaming pc back running to play the custom maps on here. Such a good game and honestly wish I’d have known how good it was before it was gone.
What makes me super super happy is that the community lives on. Black Ops 3 custom maps on PC are awesome. Every year, designers are still making unbelievable maps on the steam workshop for free, just out of love and passion for the community. Some designers even making zombie models, sounds, and aesthetics from scratch, giving their maps an extra level of depth that can make you feel weird at times that you’re playing such works of art for free.
bo3 came out when i had the most time on my hands. I'd just graduated hs, moved 6k+ miles from my home in Palestine to the wonderful city of Tallahassee, bought the game from a walmart on black friday. GOod times.
Going to boot up black ops 3 right now, I've got thousands of hours pumped into zombies and I haven't played in well over 3 years. Bo3 really was peak zombies, can't belive I was 18 when it released, time flies man...
ZNS is a personal favorite of mine. The atmosphere just completely immerses me every time I play. Especially the track(Skulls of the Damned) that plays at the ancient ruins where the skulls are located.
I get that it's not everyone's piece of cake but i loved ZnS and it's one of my all time favourites, every game should get at least one map like that (Essentially like Shangri La was for bo1 and DOTN was for bo4) What i'm saying is that the point starvation and overall high difficulty of the map are actually a good thing in my opinion, they make you feel like a survivor in a dire unwelcoming place and it brings some great challange and immersion to the game
the best and i repeat the best damn days of my entire life were spent in summer 16 playing zombies with my boys. we played basketball all day long then when it was night time we all played zombies. i’d give almost anything to go back for just one day.
As someone who’s Tim’s age, looks like Tim, has Tim’s personality, had a Latina GF and *almost* had a few kids, I just want to thank him for being the face of zombies. He’s the one TH-camr I can truly connect with. I never leave comments but felt it was appropriate. He will be greatly missed by this community. Tim, if you read this, just know I wish you the best in life, thank you for helping me revisit my childhood while all my childhood friends have moved on. Even though I play solo, I put Tim on in the background and it feels like I’m playing coop again! :)
It finally had the disc space to do something as ambitious as a Black Ops 2 map, but also kept it simple and fun enough for the most part like a Black Ops/WAW map. Blundell’s pen for lore and characterization also gave us the best story so far that was finally clearly not made up as it went along. Gameplay felt smooth and fun. I wish they would’ve remastered the entire saga for BO3, especially all the BO2 maps, if just to get all of the maps on one game/console.
My buds and I just got back into this. We played a ton of BO2, but due to us not all having the DLCs for this one, we never got around to some of the maps. Last week we all got together and did the Zetsubou No Shima Easter Egg, and it was a blast. I think we'll work through them all over the next few months
This game was so good and nostalgic. But honestly think ZNS was overhated, sure while it's a lot to do, once you really get a routine down it becomes a lot easier. Thrashers are absolutely annoying, especially when they spawned when you didn't want them but didn't when you did . Overall tho the map is great definitely one of my favorites.
Zombie TH-camrs ruined the map tbh. They all shitted on it so everyone started hating on it too. Personally it’s in my top 5 favorite maps ever but it’s good to see people starting to change their opinions on it
That was my first proper cod game had played it before but at older cousins houses, everyhting about the game was amazing including the multiplayer, custom games and zombies
I didn’t join in on the bo3 train until 2017 sadly because I didn’t have a ps4 at the time man I wished I got to experience the feeling of a new zombies map being added hell even the MP was great too even with all the supply drops stuff
I feel like the nostalgia is mostly there for the content creators as the maps and Easter eggs were so confusing that people flocked to TH-cam to learn. I never found them that fun compared to bo1 but truly enjoyed watching TH-cam videos on them.
Having only recently played black ops 3 and the zombies maps, I can honestly say it’s the most enjoyable experience I’ve had from a call of duty zombies game, enjoying both the original content that pushes the genre forward and the nostalgic feeling I receive from the classic style of the old maps, great game.
i will never understand why so many people love Blundell's tedious side quest maps. i remember when i was going for my round 100 flawless on mob of the dead and having to do general setup OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN genuinely made me not even want to play the map. and that's how ALL of his maps are, they are so fucking tedious. Der Riese, Kino, Ascension, Shang, and Moon are the best maps ever made. they are the mode in its purest form firing on all cylinders and have legitimate skill gaps without requiring the player to know how to do a million different side quests just to get the wonder weapon and actually make it useful.
We will never get a zombies game as good as this again, this was the peak of zombies and I’m glad I was around to play through it when it happened.

Revaltions was a dream come true. Its everything the "ending" should have been.

What i'm saying is that the point starvation and overall high difficulty of the map are actually a good thing in my opinion, they make you feel like a survivor in a dire unwelcoming place and it brings some great challange and immersion to the game
