7 years later it's now 2020 and I've just found out the guitars were played detuned then sped up. The info comes direct from the album producer. It helped keep the tightness of the song. It's also why the guitars have a certain sound to them.

in my experience it best to go slow at first and "know the song" then build your speed from that. bc we all know speed kills hahahaha lmao. For all master songs like this one slow and know the song then speed. this is how I learnt the songs

@@senso6280 it's because you gotta get used to the speed of it compared to the normal one ig, i'm trying it out compared to the normal speed this is a bit more difficult to get used to after playing fast

Apparently the song was recorded slower then sped up to make it sound even tighter. This might be similar to the actual tempo it was recorded.

You could alternate pick but u would get clowned on for that so yeah just build up lots of dexterity start so and it's like a regular muscle the more u do it the easier it becomes but pain is part of the process most of time

finally i can play along. question: I heard this song was all down picks...how does one play even ten seconds of it at normal speed without a burning sensation throughout their hand and arm?

It's called practice. Alternate picking may be easier for you but it doesn't have the same energy at all. It would be a slap in the face to alternate pick it. The burning sensation is actually a representation of the phrase "your life burns faster", to showcase how much pain can take a toll on you. But once you finally are able to downpick (=equals kicking the addiction, this song is about coke after all) you feel satisfied rather than pain. That is my interperetation, anyways

This is actually 75% of the original speed. It lasts 133% the original duration so its 100/133=0.75 as fast as the original.

A 133% timestretch means it has been made slower by a third. 33% is the third of 100%. It's 0.66, not 0.75, learn some Mathematics.
The original tempo of the song is 212 bpm. In this video it is about 159 bpm. So 159/212=0.75. So it is 75% as fast as the original, meaning it's 25% slower, not 33%.
Don't really know who told you that dividing was the way to get a percentage. If you want to know what's the speed you must take the original and multiply by 0.33, then you sustract the result from the original one.
212 * 0.33 = 69.96
212 - 69.96 = 142.04
Your result of 142 bpm is wrong though. Measure the tempo in the video by tapping here www.all8.com/tools/bpm.htm. It's about 159 bpm. It would be 142 bpm *if* the song was 33% slower. But it is actually 25% slower so it is 159 bpm (212-0.25*212=159). The point is that just because the time is stretched by 33% it doesn't mean that it is 33% slower. If you stretched the time by 50% would it be 50% slower? No, because 50% slower means half the tempo but that happens when doubling the time i.e. stretching it by 100%. In general, if you stretch time by x% the tempo becomes x/(100+x) % smaller.
