Undercover Brother is incredibly smart. Criminally underrated comedy. It’s got hints of blacksploitation, James Bond and Naked Gun. Every one of these actors were perfectly cast.

The ironic thing about this movie is that one of the most recurring materials in Eddie Griffin's stand-up routine is white women being supposedly overrated in terms of attractiveness. He has joked about black men showing off overweight girlfriends, Clarence Thomas being drawn to Anita Hill b/c he's married to a "no ass" wife, the absurdity of King Kong losing his mind over one Caucasian girl after being previously surrounded by fine black women, Michelle Obama being the first F-able First Lady, white dudes missing out on having black females in bed, etc... Yet here he was playing a character who just couldn't resist the white kryptonite (even the end credits scene shows that he was still trying to get a threesome going), while all the other black males dream about having one. And yes, it's a satire. But if they had cast say Rosie O'Donnell, that would've been right up Eddie's comedic alley.

Unfortunately the movie opened in theaters against Star Wars: attack of the clones so it was not a box office success.

There's still good even great comedy. Even great satire. It just has to be smarter and more self aware than the 90s and early 20s a lot of jokes were just "woman bad" or "gay people weird ", or "black people dumb". Times have changed. If you want eternally funny and unchanged comedy thats were slapstick comes in. But again it has to be smart and meaningful in the moment. The Comedy bar has been raised. This movie definitely helped raise that bar.

This is not only a criminally underrated, pin-sharp comedy, but it’s also a nostalgic property for me. My late dad loved this movie, and we’d watch it almost on loop when we were at his place (bi-weekly basis; my folks were divorced, incidentally). These were some of the happiest memories with him (I miss the guy), quoting the lines back and forth long after watching it.
Dave Chapelle’s Conspiracy Brother was our favorite character, but it introduced me to the awesomeness that is Neil Patrick Harris, and that’s a plus😊

Hope this leads to other partnerships in the future. Double Toasted is pretty much the only channel I recommend/share to friends. {Cause I know they'll love it too!😉}.
4:42 Love how territorial Chris Herman is regarding his residency. Martin is the wise man, as always, and Korey ... 😏well, he's Korey. Not many channels can make me laugh audibly.

I actually think this movie has aged pretty well.
The humor is so silly and good natured. I think this is Eddie Griffins best role in a film he's ever done and I'm honestly shocked this never got a decent sequel. The potential for more adventures with this character are there if they can find a great balance of jokes and satire and having something to say.
