Ali Larter plays a REALLY good psycho. I think the biggest issue with these Fatal Attraction imitators is that they’re not willing to let the protagonist look ambiguous. Michael Douglas in that film actually DID do something wrong and (for awhile at least) Glenn Close DID have a legit reason to be angry. These knockoff’s lack that sense of ambiguity.
I don’t think the movie needs that ambiguity. Fatal Attraction was mostly an affair that got messy. This was out and out assault and harassment from a woman to a man. Which could have been an interesting story to follow. But it turns into the wife’s battle against her husband’s stalker at the end which is almost a change in tone (and main character) at the tail end and it really doesn’t ever properly deal with a man legitimately being harassed and not being guilty. It just went full ‘battle with the crazy lady’ at the end.
Thank you! Obsessed is just OKAY. Mediocre at best. It's DEFINITELY not the masterpiece Fatal Attraction is. The only so called Fatal Attraction imitator I love aside from the original is A Thin Line Between Love and Hate with Martin Lawrence and Lynn Whitfield. I love the suspense and the comedy within this film. ❤️
I thought this movie was just ok. I give it props for pretty much portraying not only a male victim of sexual harrassment, but not going the usual formula where it is an affair gone wrong. At the same time, like many people have said, the movie didn't really do the premise justice and Derek gets sidelined at the end of the movie where it becomes Beyonce vs Crazy Bitch.
What funny about Ari Larter is, the actor who played her husband in Heroes, who is also black, said that she was uncomfortable acting intimate with him, but not with white actor, and resulting with his character dead in season 2 early

As a Brit, Space Precinct was the mid 1990 flop live action Space Police procedural show by the creator of the popular puppet shows Terrahawks, Captain Scarlett and the Thunderbirds. Seeing an actor as good as Idris Elba in such a small role in this show, explains why so many talented British black actors flocked to Hollywood to get bigger roles, they were not getting in the UK because back then there were hardly major characters of colour in major films or TV shows in Britain and black actors were either cast as criminals in small parts or pizza delivery people. And this only changed in the last 10 years as these British black actors became global stars and started to speak up about the lack of diversity in British film and TV and now the UK government, the right wing party for that fact, put a law that no movie would get public funding unless there was diversity in front and behind the camera. Plus global streaming services meant British non-diverse content was struggling for an audience outside of the UK.
Elba was in Space Precinct?? Let's see Big Finish Productions rope him in like they recently did Kate Winslett (w/ help from Russell T Davies at that!) for that Dark Season audio coming out this year
Don't put into question if someone remembers Obsessed (2009) or any movie. Because I do and that's enough. This is right up there with one of my favorite movies that has Idris Elba in it. My Top 5 are #1 Takers (2010), #2 Obsessed (2009), 3# Prom Night (2008), #4 The Losers (2010) and #5 either Pacific Rim (2013) or 28 Weeks Later (2007). Don't care about his MCU stuff.
Same here I was in 8th grade too when this movie came out and I would never knew that Ali Larter play a evil villain in this movie and she did a great job in this movie too bro
Nothing against Beyonce personally, but she should stick to singing, since she’s not a good actress. Even her voice acting wasn’t that good, in my opinion. I remember when I saw Lion King, I was trying hard not to laugh whenever she spoke
The main thing I remember from this movie besides the horrible acting from Beyoncé. It was the line that she delivered. “You touched MY baby!” 😂😂😂😂 My wife and I still laugh about that line to this day😂😂😂
A part of me admires this film for not addressing the race issue, but on the other hand I feel like it's a bit of a missed opportunity. Especially with how Idris Elba's character got aggressive with her in public, it could've had some scenes similar to the ending of Get Out. Where we get worried for him for how the public perceives him in this situation.
0:02 Funniest guy in the movie. Didn't even have much time, but made me laugh the most. Some people just love watching randos get on it while others just see it as an awkward situation and gtfo.
Obsessed is a Lifetime type of movie that just happened to be released by Screen Gems into theaters. I remember Ali Larter best from the first 2 Final Destination movies.
The Beyonce role was originally written for Zoe Saldana, ofcourse we know who the bigger star is and who has the bigger influence. (my apologies if this was stated in the video already, I typed this before I looked at it)
I would also push back on the criticism saying Derek was enjoying it, because it could be seen as them saying, well, he was asking for it. I dunno, I feel a mocie like this really should've handled sexual assault a more careful than this.
This movie follows a typical formula of the women obsessed with a man e.g, Play Misty for Me, Fatal Obsession, Swim fan, The Crush, etc. Nothing ground breaking.
Seriously I don’t like Beyoncé, but she sincerely pissed me off in this movie. Speaking to her husband like he was a baby daddy, like he did not have that mortgage of HIS Home. Do you need to tell her to check her bullshit and go stay with her mother if she was gonna have an attitude when he’s opening up about what’s going on with him
Me and my mom saw this movie on t.v. and my mom is not a Beyonce fan, but I asked her what do you think about the movie and she told me, Beyonce can't act, she definitely can't sing... You do know she produced this, my mom gave me the side eye and she told me, she can't even do that 😂
This movie might have been more interesting had Idris Elba's character had a one night stand that he soon regretted, similar to Michael Douglas in "Fatal Attraction", and it came back to heavily bite him.
I think it's refreshing (although not entirely believable) that the character Derek was immune to her feminine allure. Personally, I would've been in a world of trouble. That's why if I ever became rich or famous, I would just be upfront with people and tell them I have certain appetites, so they would know what to expect... wife included!
I love this review for so many reasons, but the main reason why is because back when DT was Spill, this was the first movie review I watched from y'all back in 2009! Been a fellow toasty since!
Can y'all do a bad movie review for Glitter? I'm a Mariah "lamb" , but that movie was terrible 😂...I've read the original screenplay and it's much better. It went through a few rewrites and they watered down tf out of it
Space Precinct ran in the U.S. as well...and I remember watching it on Saturday mornings. I don't remember seeing Idris Elba on it, but I wouldn't have noticed him at the time anyway.
Billy’s laugh is iconic idc what anyone says that man makes my day with that laugh. Like I’m already laughing but when Billy laughs it’s the icing on a cake for me!! 😂
I’m really kicking myself for not seeing it in theaters and always catching this movie on reruns on FX right after Fantastic 4 or XXX State of the union. Feels like FX back then always had the shitty movies playing LOL I remember they would always Replay the Legend of Chun Lee.
One thing I do respect the movie for is showing how men can be sexually assaulted and that as a society, we don't take it seriously.
It should be taken seriously whether you're a child or an adult, male or female, gay or straight.
yep just a shrug and everyone goes on their merry way
You’re absolutely right about that…however, the movie itself doesn’t take it seriously
Lmao it's a complete copy of many other movies before it from the 80s and 90s such as fatal attraction etc. It didn't start anything.

Interesting comment, thanks for writing it
Elba was in Space Precinct??
Takers was pretty good, just watched it on Netflix
You guys intro laughing is making me roll already and that was just the intro 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I’m here for this bad movie roast.
She really pulled a “oh, I see you choosing the HARD way” on him, huh?
I remember when this movie was coming out. I was in 8th grade, and remember seeing trailers and tv spots for it
And then Straight to the FX channel right after X-men the Last stand 😆
God damn, i was like 3 years out of high school and a alcoholic by the time this came out.
Man I was like 8 years outta high school but wasn't a complete alcoholic
I was in the 2nd grade 08-09 school year when this came out I definitely remember this
Same here I was in 8th grade too when this movie came out and I would never knew that Ali Larter play a evil villain in this movie and she did a great job in this movie too bro
Nothing against Beyonce personally, but she should stick to singing, since she’s not a good actress. Even her voice acting wasn’t that good, in my opinion. I remember when I saw Lion King, I was trying hard not to laugh whenever she spoke
She was indeed awful in this movie
Screen Gems and Lionsgate back in the 2000's was the only Studios I remember distributing Only Black Movies , Dance Movies and Resident Evil movies.
A.K.A if you have a terribly written movie with subpar acting come here.
Too bad they never did all 3 at once
This was a guilty pleasure for me, and my mom still loves this movie. Lol
The main thing I remember from this movie besides the horrible acting from Beyoncé. It was the line that she delivered. “You touched MY baby!” 😂😂😂😂
My wife and I still laugh about that line to this day😂😂😂
The fight at the end of the movie was awesome
Ooh. You guys should do, “No Good Deed,” with Idris Alba & Taraji P. Henson.
Another silly movie to me
I saw that in theaters 😂😭
@@athenajaxon2397 I did as well.
@@Bigedub101 Yeah that's why they should review it. 🤣😂
How is this not a Tyler Perry movie? 😂
this was his inspiration
There is no dark-skinned antagonist.
Wait it's not?
@@Venufan and bald
His movies are basically black LMN movies if you really think about it
A part of me admires this film for not addressing the race issue, but on the other hand I feel like it's a bit of a missed opportunity. Especially with how Idris Elba's character got aggressive with her in public, it could've had some scenes similar to the ending of Get Out. Where we get worried for him for how the public perceives him in this situation.
She escaped from Arkham Asylum! 😂
😂
Billy laughing his ass off means you know it’s gonna be good!!! 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
This has all the makings of a Tyler Perry movie!
and a LMN movie, but they are pretty much one in the same.
I felt bad for Idris being in such a movie far far far beneath him. it was painful to watch, lol
0:02
Funniest guy in the movie. Didn't even have much time, but made me laugh the most. Some people just love watching randos get on it while others just see it as an awkward situation and gtfo.
The Japanese would call her a yandere
Obsessed is a Lifetime type of movie that just happened to be released by Screen Gems into theaters. I remember Ali Larter best from the first 2 Final Destination movies.
And she was on Resident Evil
10:04 being a married man myself I will say from experience sex on the floor (even with the carpet) is not comfortable. We stick with the comfy bed
Great episode. I really laughed, and I needed to.
20:55 “by the way that dude……😂😂 I had the same exact reaction to your co host..I knew what you was gonna say 😂😂
The whole fight Beyoncé and Ari is just the perfect amount of ridiculous that I love
Billy's origin story
Billy is the best reason to watch these man. 😂😂😂😂
This movie looked so predictable I skipped it. At this point I'm suprised there hasn't been a Wayans parody called "Stalker Movie"🤣🙄
I hated that he didn't have facial hair in this movie 🤣 looked so so weird without it
You must've hated Mandela then
The Beyonce role was originally written for Zoe Saldana, ofcourse we know who the bigger star is and who has the bigger influence. (my apologies if this was stated in the video already, I typed this before I looked at it)
Heh heh I would've gave this movie an A+ if Beyonce conjured bees on Ali Larter. :D
That makes me mad, yet grateful they didnt replace Zendaya with Beyonce for Malcolm & Marie 🤡😭
They probably would have recast Idris if Zoe was in the role in that case lol.
Since Zoe dates and marries white guys in most of her movies.
@@SonicXD001 There was that time where Forest Whitaker stole her away from Christian Bale and knocked her up in Out of the Furnace lol.
I would also push back on the criticism saying Derek was enjoying it, because it could be seen as them saying, well, he was asking for it. I dunno, I feel a mocie like this really should've handled sexual assault a more careful than this.
Who else remembers when the OG Spill crew reviewed this back when it came out?
I do! Damn, we’re gettin’ old. 🥲
I watched this film years ago and my favourite part is the mad bit at the end.
"Try me, Bitch". Genius.
I guess you can say Ali Larter was *crazy in love* with Idris Elba… *Ba Dum Tss*
This is why Idris Elba never shaves 🤣
This movie follows a typical formula of the women obsessed with a man e.g, Play Misty for Me, Fatal Obsession, Swim fan, The Crush, etc. Nothing ground breaking.
I love the energy all three of you guys shared this time
Seriously I don’t like Beyoncé, but she sincerely pissed me off in this movie. Speaking to her husband like he was a baby daddy, like he did not have that mortgage of HIS Home. Do you need to tell her to check her bullshit and go stay with her mother if she was gonna have an attitude when he’s opening up about what’s going on with him
I watched this movie with my mom when it came out, and I remember that she was disappointed in Beyoncé with that fight scene.
That fight scene was so bad lol and her acting was terrible
@It aint no thing She’s not a bad actor IMO, but her music is pretty good.
Me and my mom saw this movie on t.v. and my mom is not a Beyonce fan, but I asked her what do you think about the movie and she told me, Beyonce can't act, she definitely can't sing... You do know she produced this, my mom gave me the side eye and she told me, she can't even do that 😂
20:50 🤣when korey said 🤫 shhh stop 🤣 I kept on laughing so hard when I was at school
This movie might have been more interesting had Idris Elba's character had a one night stand that he soon regretted, similar to Michael Douglas in "Fatal Attraction", and it came back to heavily bite him.
wait, you telling me the Ali Larter character didn't even get the "D" ???
Then it would be completely copying Fatal Attraction. I think the fact he hadn't cheated drives how crazy she was.
Exactly which kinda made it kinda more interesting and when I seen it I didn't think was all that bad a movie
I was very disappointed that there was never a anything between those two characters. The lady was stalking him for no reason at all.
I think it's refreshing (although not entirely believable) that the character Derek was immune to her feminine allure. Personally, I would've been in a world of trouble. That's why if I ever became rich or famous, I would just be upfront with people and tell them I have certain appetites, so they would know what to expect... wife included!
Bro, ya'll didn't say the second-best line of the film: You came into my house and you touched my child!
45:40 that was the best acting I’ve ever seen from Beyoncé
If your girl ain't persistent like Lisa throw the whole relationship away
Man I miss Danielle. She was real cool
Never heard Elba rap but he did the intro for Pharoahe Monch's "W.A.R." album. Gotta salute him for recognizing a real emcee.
I think I heard him on a 9th Wonder beat
@@dominiquejones3805 oh word? Gotta search that. 9th Wonder is a king.
He also worked with Pete Rock, if I am not mistaken...
@@fedoramcclaren4294 Word!? I got to search for that.
@@Paranormal718
If I recall, the song is called "I'll Be True"...
This actually happened to Beyonce and Jay Z, probably.
So... any Power Rangers fans recognize the dude smiling all creepy in that stall? Lol....
I did! Its captain Mitchell from Lightspeed Rescue well his actor atleast
I love this review for so many reasons, but the main reason why is because back when DT was Spill, this was the first movie review I watched from y'all back in 2009! Been a fellow toasty since!
If Tyler Perry directed a Lifetime movie.
And Idris was in a Tyler Perry movie
@@Bigedub101 he was.
I'm sure Johnathan Majors' PR team is pushing him to make a remake of this movie 😁
Lmao
Billy’s laugh is iconic idc what anyone says that man makes my day with that laugh. Like I’m already laughing but when Billy laughs it’s the icing on a cake for me!! 😂
I’m really kicking myself for not seeing it in theaters and always catching this movie on reruns on FX right after Fantastic 4 or XXX State of the union. Feels like FX back then always had the shitty movies playing LOL I remember they would always Replay the Legend of Chun Lee.
One movie they played that I liked was butterfly effect
