If you want a tour guide of Auroras best performances I'm happy to direct you. While this performance is great it's not her best. Each one of her songs has a "best" version although there are no bad performances so you really can't go wrong but I think you might enjoy the others more.
@@RNTV Yes, you should do the whole KEXP 2018, make sure 2018, mini concert, it is a masterpiece, different from Haik, but still, it is a absolutely top shelf performance, her and her whole band are on fire at this show. It's only about 30 minutes long.
@@jamesreese4170 I think we need a tour guide for every artist we react to. Though I think everyone has their own opinion on what version is best for everything. We reacted to this version because someone on one of our last Aurora reactions told us this is their favorite version of this song. 😅
Thank you for another wonderful Aurora reaction! 🤟 I'll simply echo what others have said about KEXP Iceland 2018. It's not only my favorite performance of Churchyard, but one of my favorite vocal performances from her, period. I think there are six songs at that mini-concert, and at least three, probably four, of them are my favorite versions of those songs, and the other ones are great too. A lot of magic was captured that day! Aurora was really feeling it.
❤She's one of a kind. Truly no one like her. I never get tired of her music, live and people reacting to her. Once Aurora has entered your heart, she'll never leave you and you'd never want her to. ❤
You are great AURORA reactors! Thank you for this one! In case you'd like to hear a song of hers with a different viewpoint, try In Boxes! Creepy and fun.
In Norway, the moust old churches have a graveyard, so here the text means she belongs in the grave. I really love your reactions and varm hearts for Aurora. I feeel you`re of her kind.
Thank you for explaining the connection between the churchyard and the meaning of the lyrics in Norwegian context. It certainly adds depth to our understanding of Aurora's message in the song. We truly appreciate your kind words about our reactions and our connection to Aurora. It's an honor to be considered "of her kind," as she is such a remarkable artist who stands for love, understanding, and empathy. We are grateful for your support, and we look forward to sharing more reactions to her music and other artists that touch our hearts. Thank you for being part of our journey! 💚💜
Aurora does like to be vague with her explanations of her lyrics, leaving the meaning to the interpretation of the listener. That said, she does give clues:- In an interview, Aurora said about the song: "Churchyard is just like the concept of someone bigger using their power in the wrong way, that happens all the time in politics, with children, women. I wanted the songs to feel empowering - like at the end of 'Churchyard', she comes back to haunt him."
Aurora's three performances at The Current should be taken together. This is #3. And yes, a churchyard = a graveyard. Scandinavian culture was very tribal (think: Vikings), so Aurora's musical allusions are to that heritage.
Her backup singer's name is Silja Sol (Sil-ya Soul). She was a perfect foil for Aurora's voice. She has since moved on to work on her own career. This is certainly about a violent relationship. The word "churchyard" absolutely means "graveyard" here. Aurora likes writing songs about complicated and tragic relationships: "Churchyard", "It Happened Quiet", "A Dangerous Thing", even "Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1)", although "Murder Song" is about a man who kills his loved one for a sense of "mercy", rather than killing out of violence and anger. Aurora once said somewhere that the chanting in the song was a spell, or a curse, to bring back her ghost to haunt him. Great reaction, as always!
Thank you for providing us with this valuable information friend. It's fascinating to learn about the different themes and stories behind Aurora's songs, and it's clear that she has a knack for tackling complex and emotional subjects. We appreciate your kind words about our reaction, and we're glad to have you as part of our community. It's great to have so many passionate people sharing knowledge and insights joining us on this journey. Stay tuned for more reactions, and thanks for your support!
In scandinavia we use church yard for grave yard. We need to put violence against other in the light. And give power back to all victims by violence. The shanting for me is like show who the really warrior are. 🌓
Aurora always says that some of her songs do have a specific meaning to them, but she wants them to be open to interpretation to the individual. When I first heard churchyard I immediately connected it to how I felt being bullied for being gay, especially considering a lot of the negative opinions others had about me stemmed from devotion to religion, and as I’m sure a lot of other lgbtq+ people can relate, I have been told many times to “go to the churchyard” both in the graveyard sense and in the sense that I’ve been told that I need to repent in some way for who I am, which even when said with good intentions stings.

This is a hallmark of Aurora. She packs the worst topics into a cheerful-sounding garb. This is about domestic violence. Here still mental abuse. In "it happend quit" this is continued and the victim is killed. Silja Sol is the second singer.
