Yanmar makes a great compact Diesel engine. Sad to see one abused like that one.

Did they leaving it running at high idle as the hurricane hit? I think there is a whole lot more to the story than she went under water.

Does that engine have a steel ring land for the top piston ring

Is this what they mean when they say "marine engine"?

Someone tried to start it when it was full of water. There's certainly more to the story is a consensus here. 😁

Well, that is stuffed, but at least it will break for parts well. (Assuming it is like the yanmar UK market)

Sir, do you know of any places that sell tires for 1970’s revcon Motorhome? My wife and I have two revcons. A ‘73 and a ‘75. We’ll be selling the ‘73 sometime soon, I think.

Hmm looks like it must have had some high performance rod knock when it ran before

Looks like they drained the water from the engine bay, did not drain water from intake system, and tried to start engine. Hydraulic locked her. Need at least three con rods, pistons, sleeves, and thats assuming there is no damage to push rods or rest of valve train. Cheaper to get another engine.

No liners (sleeves) in that engine.

    • @GoofieNewfie69

@@newjerseybill3521 Guess you only rebuilt American gasoline motors. hehehe They are the same thing, but American gas mechanics call em sleeves and diesel mechanics call em liners depending on where you live and the engine manufacturer. The terms are often swapped depending on who you talk to but if you only read info from the net and never actually worked on them, I can see how you would get confused.
BTW, most diesel manufacturers parts catalogues and repair manuals refer to them as liners.
The Toyota parts catalog for my Camry refers to them as a cylinder liner kit.
Many European vehicles also refer to them as liners for both gas and diesel.
      Asian vehicles use both terms.
      Aircraft also use both terms.

@@GoofieNewfie69 You misinterpreted my message. The OP stated "Need at least three con rods, pistons, sleeves," I was saying that block does not have replaceable liners (Sleeves). I've rebuilt from 4 HP lawn mower engines to 4000 HP locomotive engines.
