    Hard to understand why Hertz hasn’t negotiated with Marriott to install level 2 chargers at the location. Marriott has recently signed a deal with EV connect to install level 2 chargers at their US properties so I wonder if that complicates the situation.

    Good first impression overview. But as an EV6 owner myself (GT-Line), I'll offer some notes:
    With HDA2, the car will actually perform the lane change. You initiate either by using the first signal position (auto-return), in which case the car will leave the signal on until it's completed the lane change, or the second signal position (latched on), in which case the car will just beep at you after it's done so you can manually turn the signal off. In my experience, the lane change is fairly slow compared to how I'd execute it, and the car often gets confused on bends (or of course if the lane stripes become obscured or disappear or whatever).
    Having to push the door handles is a little odd, but of course not much different from the Model 3/Y design. In the higher trim packages, the door handles automatically pop out when the car is unlocked, so all you have to do is grab them and open the door like a normal handle.
    You are right, the wheelbase is longer on Ioniq 5, but EV 6 overall length is slightly more, so it will look a tad larger because of that.
    As you found, the synthetic motor sound is optional and can be turned off. There are three different variants of sounds, and I found none of them compelling. I keep that turned off too. :)
    Many others have also commented on the potential problem with roof clearance, but I'm 6'4" and even with sunroof, I fit just fine. Different people have different proportions, so I guess a tall person where their extra height is more in their torso than in their legs might have trouble. But I'd guess most people would fit fine. The seat can be lowered quite a lot, more than I need it to.
    GT-Line does unlock when you approach, but doesn't remove the need for the power button. I agree, it's a bit weird that it still has the power button, but I think maybe they keep it so that the driver has more fine-grained control over which systems in the car are powered on at any given time (e.g. in "accessory" mode, draining less power from the 12V battery).
    I was amused by your comment about the phone charger, since another YTuber who compared his Ioniq 5 with the EV6 noted that his phone does _not_ get nearly as hot in the EV6 as it does in the I5. I can neither confirm nor refute, because my phone doesn't have wireless charging.

      Oh, and...
      I don't know what the dealers are doing now, but we bought our car a few months ago, and at the time the dealer was running a $5K discount sale. Contrast that to the $5K markup our local dealers were adding to the cars just a year ago, and that represented a huge shift in the price, and was a big reason we decided on the EV6 (but it helped that we liked it better than the VW iD4, the Mach-E, and even the Ioniq 5...the I5 has a roomier cabin, but I found I actually liked the cozy, wrap-around feel of the EV6...more sporty than mini-van).

      @@harvey66616I've always been fond of the I5 limited and was set to get one soon but the more I look at the EV6 the more I like it more. I too like the bigger interior of the I5 but the EV6 interior looks way better especially the screens. The exterior of the EV6 is looking better each time too. Back then I wasn't a fan of the back at all but it's looking ok to me now. I'm looking at either getting the GT-Line or GT. Just wished the had powered front vent seats. I wouldn't mind the added weight or cost.

    • @harvey66616
      @harvey66616 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@volcalstone yup, love the ventilated seats in the gt-line. Honestly, not sure why anyone would pay the extra money for the GT as long as it's missing comfort/convenience features the lower end models have. AWD GT-Line in Sport mode already has a ridiculous amount of power.
      I think I still prefer (slightly) the look of the I5 ... I'm a sucker for the "pixels" everywhere, but I like the EV6 too.

    • @volcalstone
      @volcalstone 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@harvey66616 honestly I would be happy with the GT-line. I do like all the racing tech in the GT tho. It's just a shame that they had to downgrade the seats tho. I like having adaptive dampers in my cars. The rear LSD will be fun on those curvy back roads too. It does have less range but I don't travel much now so I don't mind and plus there are a lot more 350kWh chargers around now. I don't mind waiting 10-15 mins to charge.
      I do still like the I5 but I just wish it had a little more. It does sit higher tho and the steering isn't as sporty as the EV6. Yeah I'm a pixel fan myself as well. I might just wait for the refresh I5 for 2025 tho. I believe the interior will look better as I'm fine with the outside already. It's just hard waiting that's the thing hehe.

    I have the same car with tech package and I'm so glad I did... I love my ev6 and if I were to upgrade to another car it would be for the new remodeled ev6 that will be unveiled next month...
    Curious why hertz simply doesn't charge the cars on a regular 110 outlet overnight while they are standing by to get rented. Sure, it's slow as molasses that way but if they are just sitting there for hours then it's better than nothing.
    On a side note , I love the active sound design noise, I do want to feel like I'm driving a space ship. My only gripe is that I wish it had more selections.

    Obviously this is a lower trim line vehicle without the tech. package because you don’t have the 360 degree camera view which is a valuable option. Great cars and the dual motor has more than enough acceleration, won’t make your eyes bleed but they might begin to water. Solid build and very up to date styling.

    Looks like you’re driving the base model. I own the 2024 Kia EV6 GT AWD line package 2. In my EV6 there’s a different design for the steering wheel where the bottom is more flat and the leather stitching and interior design is better. The sound is also better in the higher spec model. I also have a heated steering wheel where on the console it has the touch button option or I can add it as one of my favourites or use the voice system. My model also comes with full powered seats and heating and air conditioning seats in the front, heated ones in the rear. There’s just more added to my model as it’s fully loaded but with that there’s more weight so it reduces my range to 463 KM which I can extend using regenerative braking and turning off the AC or Heat when not needed.

    The car rental companies should do a better job providing customers information on charging. Unfortunately some customers rent an EV without knowing anything about charging. They google charging stations on their phones and are shocked to find they can’t charge there because it doesn’t have a compatible connector. They don’t know that their rented EV has a navigation system that will find compatible chargers.

      Kind of, sort of I'd say. Apparently they ship from Korea with 12v batteries that are absolute crap, they can't handle cold weather at all. So where I live (up north in Europe) a lot of owners has gotten these replaced on warranty (in some cases after some pushback from Kia). They also released an update that wakes the car up more frequently for maintenance charging of the 12v battery that seems to help a lot. After I got the battery replaced, and the update applied I have not had any issues since then.

Water got into the battery pack, the car failed, and Tesla wanted to bill them £17,374, or about $21,000 for battery pack replacement. Their car was still under warranty, so, my question is: Was the battery pack defective and not sealed adequately to prevent water intrusion or was a significant portion of the car submerged? Amazingly, there have been no updates in the media since this story first appeared in Oct of this year.

      Model 3 makes you look over at the center panel to see your current speed, EV6 puts your current speed (and several other critical pieces of info) right in front of you, and on the HUD on the higher-level trim (I love the HUD in my EV6).
