Marcus, I have found this simple explanation to be extremely important in completely understanding and "accepting" the criticality of exaggerating the "out" swing from the inside. We are almost too scared to physically attempt to swing out that much thinking that the ball would fly way right for a right handed player. However, the opposite result is true. Simple but yes, a "eureka" moment. Finally. This video succeeded in making me finally exaggerate the in to out swing necessary for the draw. Thank you.
Update from an 68 years old golfer spending his winter in Myrtle Beach. Once again today Jan. 31st I went to a driving rane to hit a small bucket of golf balls. I very happy to report that the VERY early release work great for me. For the first time in 10 sessions at the range using my driver I hit 50 % of my shoots with a draw and the other 50% with a fade ( NO SLICE ) at all. I did hit many shoots that did carry over 210 yards in the air big improvement from my usual 170 yards plus the ball stay around 6 seconds in the air. Big bonus for me NO MORE pain in my lower back. My new Canadian Slap shot golf swing. MGGA (make golf great again) I thank you for all your videos You are the Borge Salming of the golf swing 😅
Marcus, my brain thinks I hit the ball at 150 mph ball speed. This morning on the range the trackman said I was hitting the ball at 140 miles per hour. It was 45 degrees F into a 10kts headwind and using range balls. So I drove to the course and it became 60 degrees. I used a callaway soft golf ball and I hit 3 out of 4 par 5s in two swings. So, I was producing 150 miles per hour but the cold air and low compression range balls would not let me do it. Everything you say, I do. It may not seem like much to you but I hit two drives today, one 260 and one 254. At 71 years old and 5"10 I'm playing pretty well. I started using your instructions about 2 weeks ago and so I am really just getting started,. I can't wait to see what happens from here forward. Thank you for the real vs feel video. I only want one thing, to get better at golf. Thank you Marcus for helping me get better already,,,
Getting better at golf is journey and a constant struggle. But if we can stand it we always get better in the end. Thanks for trusting me to guide you. 🙏
My 27 year old daughter, that has never golfed, just asked if I’d take her to the range. The first thing I thought was that we should hit off the mat in the garage first. Then another of your videos came to mind on exaggerating the swing by facing the target, hitting broken tees to find the bottom. I’ll add this to our first “lesson”. Perfect timing. I find your instructions and commentary fit my way of learning.
What a fabulous video, probably your best yet. I have hit over 300 yard drives with your method. But sometimes I slip back into high spinny ones...My low point is a foot behind the ball...NOT anymore after this video. Thanks so much again!!!!
Marcus, today I shot 73. I had nine straight pars. I ALSO had back to back birdies on #4 and. 5. I was on auto pilot. Thank you so much for the simple truth about the golf swing. Wish I'd been doing this 10 years ago. My search for the the perfect golf shot is over. i hit it over and over again today. Thank you so much..Remember my goal is to shoot my age. 70. The reason I didn't do it today was because of one three putt, and wrong club selection on two holes and one bad up and down. But 4 bogies and two birdies on a par 71 two over ....wow, I can't wait to play again Fri and Sat.....You are my guide from now on!!!
lovely as always. I am so happy that i chose one teacher. (you) Its not perfect as it will never be, but I hit it so much more simple. And its makes the fairway also wider. Just hitting the right side in my mind and trust the draw. Thanks buddy
Good morning from Ocala fl! I have been using the driver practice swing thumping the ground 3-4 feet behind the golf ball with great success. I have been struggling with irons hitting the forward ball constantly. Using your exaggerated practice swing looks like my cure. Practice range today. Thanks for your wisdom.
Marcus, I have video'd your swing onto my phone and now replay them frame by frame to see what I'm missing. I notice in your driving you seem to hover the club head slightly above the ball before starting your back swing is that something we should be copying? Also you have a very full back swing that I will copy!! My back swing tends to get short. I love the way you seem to "rest" at the end of your backswing before starting the downswing, nice!!
It is flattering that you keep me in your phone but you should not copy everything I do. You should find your way to move the club the same but not copy every detail. My take away came from a lot of practice in sand and rough. I know what I do works best it will work absolutely best if you make it yours. 👍
Great video this is exactly what happens to me ,am working on the the low point, arm swing down or shoulder turn 45 degrees angle down, the feel is not real but I know it works and look forward to golf every day thinking that first drive will be a draw .thanks Marcus from New Zealand love your videos.
Marcus, I am amazed at how quickly I improved at striking a golf ball by following your tips. I came across your channel three weeks ago and have improved my best score by 12 strokes in only six rounds of golf! In fact, I have matched the 12 stroke improvement twice in those six rounds- once on an easier course and once on a more challenging course. I do have a question though. I am impacting the ball great and have a very pretty ball flight but it is dead straight. I have not been able to get that nice draw you are able to hit. I will take dead straight everyday but would like to develop the draw. Suggestions? Once again thank you for sharing with everyone and keep up the great work.
Great to hear about your progress. You are close to a draw if you hit it straight, but we need to exaggerate both the swing path out and an even earlier release to get there. When you practice next time start with the release and don't stop the early feeling until you get a nice left curve on the ball. When that feels comfortable you can go to the path and swing more out and see if you can do both.

Do you have video on early release?? Not sure what that means and how to do it? I know release is allowing loose hands to turn over..do you recommend I do that Turn over [release] sooner before impact as an exaggeration ?? Just FYI, I come over the top on every downswing and my question was may be exaggerating inside path via an exageeted inside drop from top?? I dont come to inside at impact and I thought that was reason I was push-fading?? thanks for quick response
Marcus, this is the second time I have commented. I'm 4 handicap. I see draws when I take practice swings and then hit only fade/ pushes when I hit real balls. We all know that you must hit real ball to inside a variety of methods to hit draw. Question: should I exaggerate my drop from the top of swing to get slightly inside in order to start hitting draws ? Experiment with exaggeration? Because nothing else works. Thanks
The reason you don't get the ball to turn is a late release. If you swing more out but still don't get a draw flight on the ball you will never find it. Start with a crazy exaggerated early release and get the club to produce the correct flight pattern before you work with the path.
What changes is that you shift your focus to the ball instead of the club. If you continue to focus on the club when the ball is there it will be the same. Learning to control your focus is the key.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad I tried your method on someone. Worked great. Definitely creates a better handpath from the top. I added a 45% diagonal line on my hitting mat as a reminder of the idea
It is a brain wakening moment when we understand the true real from the not so real feel Can you tell me what size grip you have on your driver and are you using a split hand grip Another informative video 👍⛳️👍
Not that we need to know it, if things are already working well, but I think that there is a logical reason for the feel versus real and path and practice swing relationship. All powerful swingers and anyone with a good athletic sense of leverage goes into a pure spin around the center of their torso as they release the club, this adds a lot of speed and momentum to the strike because the club is "freewheeling" through impact and beyond. You can generally detect this happening in the swing by how someone's head and neck begin to release around forcefully as they move through impact and into the follow through. Also you can sometimes see someone's head orient itself as this starts to happen onto the true axis of rotation in their swing. This happens with you and your driver very noticably as your head releases a little to the trail side and to the rear as you release because your are hitting far from inside and up. The thing is that during this extremely important "spin" portion of the release, the club moves back inside and toward the lead side VERY rapidly because the club has been freed to respond to the rotional momentum and since it is just a freewheeling turn at that point, it is very hard for the golfer to take proper account of this motion in his/her swing and the corresponding affect on the path of the club. Since golfers aren't really aware of this more spontaneous part of the swing motion, they don't even tend to really incorporate it into their practice swings and are unaware that the clubhead will IN ACTUALITY be moving much more back to the inside and towards the lead side as they go into full release than they allow for in their practice swings. Thus feel becomes very far from real. This can be seen in your driver swing as you go into full release and head and neck change axis because suddenly the extremely inside out path of your clubhead changes rapidly and in an instant it is almost going directly down the target line (but obviously still somewhat in-to-out). The actual mechanism for this is interesting. During the backswing, we increase the angle between the trail thigh and the trail side of the torso and do the opposite with the lead side. Then the process reverses during the downswing as we begin to build up momentum for the "spin" portion where we fully release the club. During that spin portion, the angles between both sides of the body and the corresponding thighs are both lost as we move into the follow through and finish and become relatively upright. Therefore, your determination of your appropriate low point for your driver swing makes absolute sense in light of this buildup and spin sequence and your wish to hit from inside and upward on the ball. Cheers.
@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Well, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. However, I was a plus handicap playing never more than 30 rounds a year for a lot of my golfing life which is now 55 years plus. I won a Quebec college championship when I was 18 and considered tour golf when I was younger but never really had enough access to get the necessary reps. I am 64 now and don't get to play that much but still love the game. I am still strong enough to the ball 300+ and still have most of my skills. I was also a multi-sport athlete and was very good at at least 10 different sports (i.e. played for the school or at a high competitive level). For the last 3 to 4 years, although I had a lot of knowledge about the swing, I have devoted myself to analysing countless swings and understanding the swing to the greatest degree possble. I always loved golf more than any other sport, but martial arts was a close second. I hope that answers your question but why do you ask? Cheers.
@@timothypollock8358 Ok. That answers says a lot. When I read your comments I get curious because you write them like you know a lot about the golf swing. Why don't you start your own video channel with tips? You have no videos uploaded, why? I think there is many ways to hit good golf shots and will only give you all my view but I will not comment on someone else's instructions and say that they are wrong. I also believe that to many details will destroy most golfers and will overload them with swing thoughts that is unnecessary for 99% of my viewers. I'm glad you find my channel interesting but if I feel that your comment is unhealthy for my viewers I will remove it. Cheers
@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Well, I certainly don't want to trip anybody up or stymie their progress. In fact, exactly the opposite. I think that many people, even the best instructors in the world, are not able to connect all of the dots in the golf swng and that is what I am trying to do and I feel that I am getting closer all of the time to that goal. You and your method interest me so I thought that I would comment in a way that might help whoever is interested in a look under the hood. In my comments on your channel, I am trying to interpret what I see you doing according to what I am continuing to understand as time goes on. I do not wish to undermine you in any way or create any problems for your students or subscribers. My own belief is that I am offering helpful observations that many people might find useful. Some people want to know a lot about what they are doing and what makes it work and some don't. In fact, I think that certain people like myself like to know what makes things work because then when they stop working you have a better chance of fixing them quickly. This is a trend that has evolved quite a bit among tour pros also, even ones in some cases that tend to be more feel players. If I am bothering you or your students or that is your perception, then please feel free to remove any of my comments or all of them with my complete blessing and understanding. I like you Marcus, and I am very impressed by your ball striking and appreciate the simplicity and effectiveness of your method and would hate to do anything to disturb your sense of peace about your channel. As far as my own channel goes, I have been working towards something like that for these past years. I am a perfectionist by nature and therefore feel that I should understand every significant piece before I proceed with teaching others about them. I also have had many life and some health challenges over these same years that I have been growing my understanding so I haven't quite gotten there yet but I feel that I am getting very close. My goal is a lofty, and some would say crazy, one. It is to understand the swing so well that i can perform almost any good swing well (up to my physical capabilities but I am still very strong and can still climb a rope with just my arms) and teach people to do it down to the smallest detail, so you can see why that would take some time. I would also like to say that some of your comments and ways of understanding the swing have contributed to, not necessarily new elements of understanding, but rather refinements of certain things that I already knew so thank you for that. Perhaps, judging by your reaction it is best if I refrain from commenting for now and just make short positive or inquiring comments when I think that it will be received as appropriate. Thanks for your correspondance and good luck in all of your endeavors and definitely no hard feelings. Cheers.
I downloaded Skillest so i could purchase a lesson from you. Next time it’s warm enough to hit the range i’ll send you my videos. How many balls should i hit for each angle?
WATCHED ALL 3 VIDEOS ON EARLY RELEASE. Confused now more than ever..like trying to explain tempo..but thanks for effort here.I really like some of your videos
I just saw a TH-cam video from Golf for Dummies and this guy ranks you at top of TH-cam INSTRUCTORS. I did not know your general method is to play body open, weight on trail foot and ball back in stance and to keep weight on trail side throughout swing allowing momentum to pull you through. I adhere to Jim Venetos which is total opposite of your teaching. Finally, early release is for another day for me . Can you link video of yours that shows your method as I mention above that capsulizes your swing criteria. Thanks
Marcus. Thanks for very informative videos. I have always been a fader of the ball with driver and never been able to draw it. I have recently started incorporating your swing tips when I use my driver. I am now hitting 10 -15% further, much straighter and with a ' slight' fade. Still no draw. Ball position is still opposite big toe of lead foot and about 1/3 of the ball on the tee, is above the driver head at rest. Are ball position and tee height an issue for the lack of draw?
Hi Tony. I think your ball is a bit too far forward in your stance to be able to hit it from the inside. I can't hit a draw that way but if I wanna force a fade, that would be part of the plan. 👍

Cheers.

I really appreciate your videos!
Thank you 🙏
I downloaded Skillest so i could purchase a lesson from you. Next time it’s warm enough to hit the range i’ll send you my videos. How many balls should i hit for each angle?
One or two is probably okey and one video where you tell me about your goals. 👍
WATCHED ALL 3 VIDEOS ON EARLY RELEASE. Confused now more than ever..like trying to explain tempo..but thanks for effort here.I really like some of your videos
Tempo and timing are different things. You need to change timing to move the low point and the release. What is confusing?
I just saw a TH-cam video from Golf for Dummies and this guy ranks you at top of TH-cam INSTRUCTORS. I did not know your general method is to play body open, weight on trail foot and ball back in stance and to keep weight on trail side throughout swing allowing momentum to pull you through. I adhere to Jim Venetos which is total opposite of your teaching. Finally, early release is for another day for me . Can you link video of yours that shows your method as I mention above that capsulizes your swing criteria. Thanks
Thanks!
Thank you. I really appreciate it. 🙏
Could you please do a video on the use of hybrids?? Thanks
It's on the list. 👍@@johnlapensee8039
